DECEITFUL, MANIPULATIVE & UNETHICAL Company!

On 8/21/23 we contacted AE Shutters about a roller shade replacement for a blackout shade we ordered on 3/20/23 and installed on 6/30/23 due to the fabric being on backorder and the production of a shutter we ordered on 5/20/23.
On 7/18/23 while an AE Shutters employee was at our home attempting to resolve a dispute about a shutter they previously installed that was too small, we realized our roller shade was not a blackout shade. AE Shutters assured us they were working with the manufacturer to correct this issue as well & right away!
We called AE Shutters on Friday 8/18/23 at 11:19 am asking about our roller shade after waiting for 30 days, we never received a return call, text, or email with an update.
On Monday, 8/21 @ 12:33 pm we texted AE Shutters inquiring about the roller shade, the office manager responded: We found out the roller shade was shipped and should arrive within this week, it was ordered on 8/4 and shipped on 8/18, I talked to the manufacturer on 8/19.
Alarmed by the order date,
We replied: Kelly, again the lack of communication is an issue... If you cannot provide proof that it is in transit as of 2 pm today please provide a full refund of $870.90. You guys waited to see the outcome of the shutter issue before attempting to correct the roller shade issue when one had NOTHING to do with the other.
At 3:36 pm Kelly pushed her way (as we had experienced before with Kelly) by forwarding us an email stating she was misinformed and the roller shade would be shipped overnight. In the attached email from the manufacturer at 3:30 pm it read: the roller shade was still in production and would be rushed to be shipped on 8/24/23.
We asked Kelly to cancel the order, but she replied it was too late and allowed the manufacturer to proceed with production, ignoring & failing to mention our request. She was more concerned about how our request would affect AE Shutters and the manufacturer while insinuating EW was having a bad day.
Kelly stated, "You have a roller shade in your house it's just not blackout, You can keep it if you want (as if she was doing us a favor), It's too late to cancel the order and you will NOT receive a refund"! We said, "We don't want that one, it's not what we paid for and requested a refund once again which AE Shutters has refused and continues to respond unethically.
Mark- the owner was made aware of this situation by email on 8/23/23 @ 1:13 pm, STILL no response from AE Shutters.
This company does not like to take responsibility for their actions, will LIE to cover their butts, and is ONLY concerned about it's profits.

On June 10th, Dan *** from AE Shutters came to my house in Sherman, Texas to measure for painted plantation shutters for my kitchen area and also for a set of wood stained french door shutters in my dining room. I signed a contract and put down a $376 deposit for the stained french doors shutters only.

The salesman did not bring stain samples with him, and declined to take a wood slat from an adjacent plantation shutter, instead taking several pictures of the wood stained doors with his phone. He told me I would receive samples of matched color stains in the mail in the next few days.

After three weeks I had not received samples, although the office manager Mary *** reassured me I would received the stain samples soon.

One Sunday afternoon in early July, unannounced and unplanned, Mary *** came to my door with the samples. She said they were never mailed. None of them matched or were even close. She told me she would return early in the week with a lanyard of samples, but that she had a color in mind that she felt would be a good match. At her suggestion I chose the color.

When the shutters arrived they did not match at all. After many phone calls, she stated that the shutters just needed to be remade, but that she had a certain way to approach things to keep people from getting "thrown under the bus. She asked that I go to Sherwin Williams and pick several stains and that she would take personal responsibility for getting new stain samples to me.

After days went by, she confessed to me she hadn't talked to the owner, Mark *** to get the go ahead for the remake of the shutters.

Finally, she told me Mark *** said he would give me my choice of having the shutters sanded down or a refund of my deposit. I chose the refund.

To date I have not received my refunded deposit in the amount of $376, despite many phone calls and reassurances that Mary *** personally mailed the check.

If I could rate my experience less than 1 star I would! I have never before experienced such disregard as a customer. I will say I have not yet noticed an issue with the shutters themselves. However, in my opinion Respectful customer service is equally as important than the quality of the product or service itself. Here is where AE Shutters have FAILED MISERABLY! I sought out their services for my new home because I was planning my very 1st event in my newly built home. This was also to be the 1st event we would have since my husband of 20 years lost is cancer this past September...might I add! My installation was scheduled to take place 1 week following installation. To my dismay when the installers showed up on the agreed upon installation date, it was ONLY then was I told that they would only be doing a partial install, as all of my shutters were not ready! I couldn't understand how no one from AE did not think to contact me to tell me, or at the very least apologize! I did not receive a call for the completion of my install until nearly 2 WEEKS LATER, and still no apology! I was told I needed to take my concerns up with *** the Project Manager. This is when things when from bad to UNTHINKABLE! Instead of taking responsibility for the situation *** made me feel even more disregarded and what's worse...to blame for not calling him sooner! I told him in my opinion to account for the lack of regard from the beginning to now, in addition to the embarrassment for having to host my event with wide open windows with no privacy for my guest (at the very front of the home where the main part of my event was being held), some portion of the remaining balance should be discounted. I'd add that the balance was ONLY $217!!! Instead of taking responsibility and ensuring customer satisfaction I was yelled at, told it was wrong of me to request a discount, and ultimately hung up on by the Plant Manager! I was at such a loss for words, and I still am! I hope that my post will not only encourage AE to revisit the concept of proper customer satisfaction I also hope to spare anyone reading this post and thinking of contracting AE's services DON'T! You want to find a company that will TRULY appreciate your business instead of telling you how grateful you should be that they showed up with a partial order instead of making you wait for them all to be ready! HOW INCREDIBLY INSULTING...SHAME ON YOU Mr. the Plant Manager! If AE wants to be successful they truly need to re-evaluate who they have acting as their voice!

I am sorry to hear about your bad experience. We are normally known for our exceptional attention to detail..

Your install was on a Saturday. The office is closed after noon and wasn`t aware that your order was not complete until the following Monday , which was Christmas Eve. Normally the install takes place even though 1 room might be missing. I am again, so sorry for this inconvenience we might have caused.

For me it became far less about any discount, especially considering I had paid all of the nearly $2500 (except 200 I held until completion). It was the level of disrespect and AWFUL treatment the Plant Mgr. *** that caused me the most stress, disappointment, and humiliation! The way he spoke to me and hung up in my face was ABSOLUTELY unforgivable!

They delivered bad product, promised to repair and deliver again, never heard from them back, my lawyer sent them a letter and also no response.
I signed a contract with AE Shutters on 01/13/2017. According to their contract, the turnaround time for delivery is 3 to 4 weeks. We worked with them for almost 3 months trying to get a color match as they promised they will, but no luck. Finally, we just agreed to accept the closest color match we were given.
Debby, the person who was supposedly working on our account was let go because she was not doing her job properly and according to the new person that they lost multiple accounts. The new person Amanda promised that things will move much faster than before. We started corresponding with Amanda and on March 20th, we received an email from her about the order (Please see attached email thread). On March 24th, they came to install the shutters and the quality was really, really bad, from chipped wood, running paint, dirty and dusty shutters and making lots of squeaking noise.
The installer apologized for the quality and decided to not install the shutters and they will have to redo them again. So, I called and emailed and on March 30th, I received an email apologizing for the delayed response and letting me know that the order will be ready in 7 days.
May arrived and we still didn't hear anything from AE Shutters so I filed a dispute with MC. At first, MC disputed the wrong amount but the correction was adjusted by MC. In July, the credit was still showing on my MC statement of $6,174.50 so I called MC to mail me a check with the amount. I was travelling early August and then I took a month trip from 08/19 to 09/19 in which MC sent me an email (08/07) that the Merchant has responded and I have a month to respond back. I dint know that was the content of the email back then because I was under the impression that they are sending me the check and the email was to let me know when I am going to receive the check. Since I didn't respond with an answer to the merchant's response I automatically lost the dispute which brought us to our current situation.
AE's response to MC was that we didn't agree on color and that's not true and that I added a statement to the contract which was not there and that is a criminal offense, which is also not true. The added clause I did was on 01/13/2017 and was emailed to them, so if they didn't agree with that added clause why did they charge the CC on 01/20, I also have an email from them on 03/30 apologizing for the bad quality and they are re-sanding the shutters and they are ordering more paint! So, I am not sure what they are basing their rights on? Basically, after they sent me the email on 03/30 telling me they are working on it within 7 days, I sent an email asking for a concession from them for all the headache they have caused and up till today they didn't attempt to contact me to remedy the situation. I will be emailing you with all the emails and the response they made to MC as well the original dispute explanation I sent to MC.
I hired an attorney and draft a letter demanding my money back and they also ignored it.
I copies of the emails, photos and attorneys communications as well.

Please Note: The customer informed us that Sherwin Williams Dover white was his color choice. The shutters were taken out to be installed but customer rejected them not because of bad quality but he claimed that the color was wrong! AE Shutters is not responsible for picking out colors for our customers!
Shutters were returned and then had to be resanded while customer visited the Sherwin Williams store that we order paint from mutiple times trying to come up with a color. Keep in mind that this order was over 600 square feet! This is why the customers shutters were not delivered in 3 to 3 1/2 weeks! The 3 month period which I disagree with was due to the fact that the customer couldnt come up with a color. Our color matches are not 100% and it clearly states it on our contract.We spent a lot of time with this customer and it was very stressful for the office staff and Sherwin Williams. After this customer finally decided on a match we ordered 10 gallons which we paid for, the customer then told us that he just wanted his money back! The contract clearly states that the deposit is non-refundable and the balance will be paid in full! The shutters were built and we have lost a lot of money trying to please this particular customer! My decision on letting Debbie go has nothing to do with this and should be taken out!
She was let go due to other reasons, not by what customer claims! The customer clearly states that he altered the contract on 01/13/17 and sent it to the credit card center. I dont think this a good practice at all! It is a binding contract! He stated that we would guarantee that the paint would be a 100% match or we will redo the the job and not just paint at our cost! Also wrote that the agreement will supercede the paint clause in our contract! NOT A GOOD THING! You can not alter a contract at any time! Keep in mind that we are the second shutter company that this customer has dealt with. The one before us was the same ordeal.I was personally told bv the customer. Customer also stated that our installer was taking shutters out of boxes when they arrived. Our company does not do this.
Please understand our company works with all of our customers to insure that all issues if any get resolved! in a timely manner...I have been in this business for over 30 years and I will say that our company strives at pleasing customers! So to say that we completely ignored this particular customer is a false statement!
