Complete tear off and re-roof resulted in damage/loosening of the sheathing/decking of roof, ultimately compromising the integrity of the structure. Any expansion/contraction of roofing material due to slight temperature change causes decking to shift , creating constant movement and noise. At times it sounds as though someone is walking on roof. We had shingles checked by manufacturer, which turned out fine and within specifications. Though, I payed for a complete tear-off,(which we didn't receive), so roof decking could be thoroughly inspected for damage etc., the original 15lb felt was left in place in spots and covered with 30lb. felt. I only know this because I had vents installed afterward and was informed by installer. I've been dealing with this for almost two years with symptoms not subsiding in the least, but getting worse. Contractor guaranteed workmanship for seven years, but not living up to his guarantee, claiming he is "not responsible for noises". It's not just the noise, it's the integrity of the whole structure that's been compromised. If the job was completed, (with complete tear-off), the contractor would/should have noticed loose sheathing, (which was caused by his tear-off), and taken appropriate action to fix.
