Received a random letter soliciting for an extended policy to be created. I called and was told that they create new and extended policies. I let them know that my dryer is having an issue and they said due to that I no longer qualify. Then the woman hung up on me when I told her that.

I called back to speak with someone in management level and was literally told, "It's like trying to get health insurance when you have Cancer. It's a preexisting condition."

After reporting a claim I was told to find my own service provider, after I got an evaluation of the a/c problem and e-mailing them the invoices; they tell me that it would be two weeks before I could expect to hear from a claims adjuster and that they would not cover the cost of repairs to my a/c unit. I've made monthly payments to this company for over three years living in the south with 90+ degree temps, to wait two weeks and find out they will not repair my unit is unacceptable, As a Disabled Veteran I am hoping no other Vet. has been doped by them.
This company is a total FRAUD

Received a letter today about my "property's home warranty" with the phone number ending in 8653 to call. LOL If it wasn't so wrong that the postal service allows this to continue it would be funny. Too many people "caught" by this.

Instead of a return address, it has "Personal And Confidertial Open Immediately" that smacks of a government notice (but no one with a basic education would have capitilized the "a" for "And").

This is a textbook example of "let's frighten people to think this is mandatory and sell them coverage on appliances." that is not only deceptive but sleaze salesmanship. A quick Google search shows a long list of FTC complaints, too. SHAME!

I received a "final notice" with immediate response requested. The notice includes urgent and threatening language about how my policy is about to or has expired. The notice provides very little, if any, information about who the notice is from and the letter does not provide a return address.

Examples of the language included in the letter. It includes a deadline for when to respond by.

"Home warranty.. may be expired or has already expired"
"Please call IMMEDIATELY as this will be our FINAL ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY YOU"
"Our records indicate that you HAVE NOT CONTACTED us yet to get your home warranty up to date"
"Without a home warranty in place, you are at risk of being financially liable for any and all repairs"
"We reserve the right to revoke your eligibility for service coverage after 5 days."
"EXTREMELY URGENT & TIME SENSITIVE - IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED"

The letter includes enough personal information about my bank, address, or mortgage lender to seem legitimate. At first I bought into this notice and thought I may indeed have lapsing coverage, but the address provided is a rental address vs. the address of the home that I own.

In fine print at the bottom of the notice it states "Not all consumers have previous coverage."

I called the phone number provided and the agent could not confirm or deny if I had an existing policy (I don't) because he worked in a different department. I spoke with a supervisor (or someone pretending to be) and he also could not confirm or deny my coverage. The folks I spoke with were attempting to sell me coverage, despite my current residence being a rental where I am not liable for repairs. All conversations about my "expired or expiring" policy turned back to a sales pitch or an explanation of the coverage they provide.

I cannot say for certain that this is a scam, but they are using extremely predatory marketing practices. The agents were slippery and would not answer my direct questions. They became rude and condescending when I continued to ask to speak to someone who could inform me on my current policy status.

This is marketing masquerading as a legitimate and urgent notice. Beware if you receive a similar notice.

Aegis Home Warranty Group Response • Aug 03, 2020

To Whom It May Concern,
*** contacted Aegis Home Warranty Group on 12/13/2018 and purchased the contract for the property ***. At that time, *** was given the name of the Administrator which is responsible for the adjudication and processing of claims.
On 4/27/2020 *** contacted our Customer Support Department to cancel her contract. The full cancellation procedures were discussed with *** on this call. On 5/12/2020 we received the above mention cancellation documents and cancelled *** contract. While we mostly agree with *** pro-rated refund calculations, *** did not factor in the $150 deduction for her claims paid on the account. We have provided a pro-rated refund calculation summary for reference.
We have recently been in contact with *** to provide explanation of her refund amount received. *** confirmed filing a claim on her dryer in 2019 and understood why that was deducted from her pro-rated refund. For these reasons, we believe the issue to be resolved at this time. If *** would like to discuss her complaint further, we can be reached ***. We apologize for any inconvenience associated with this matter.

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: The explanation/apology offered by *** (Aegis representative was insufficient to justify why they took over 6 weeks and required, my personal intervention with their claim vendor (***), before they processed the, in-complete , prorated refund; apparently its because of the Corona Virus.

I note Aegis response indicates that I accepted their excuse that they kept $150.00 for my filing a dryer repair claim in 2019 is in correct. I specifically informed him that I did not accept his excuse and it was my intent to leave by Revdex.com complaint in place. As, I am having difficulty completing/typing my explanation via this web site; I will be mailing my response with appropriate documentation to you.

Thank you for your assistance with this matter

Sincerely

I have had a home warranty with this company since 1-8-2019, and I pay $213 a month. My contract number is ***. In May, I had an issue with my microwave so I called the warranty company. I paid a $65.00 service fee to a company that did not come out. I called Aegis back and *** gave me another business to use. I called and had to pay them an $89 service fee for them to tell me there was nothing they could do. So I have been paying $213 a month and I paid $154 in service fees. This is just a microwave and by now I could have just purchased a new one. I cannot get any sort of resolution. I have never called them before but after this experience I do not trust that if I had another issue they would be able to take care of it.

I received a letter on 06/23/2020 from this which looked literately like pay to the order shows it could be a check to me. After opening this. Them realizing it wasn't a check enclosed and began reading it. This letter from this company claiming my home warranty was about to expire. I have no warranty on my property at all and if I decide to get one it will not be this misleading company like this. I called the number on the letter talk to a profound it after I stated that I took the letter a threatening and you're not to send another. Trying to bully me on the phone as she was demanding info this AWG sent me. I feel that it a scam type company and after reviewing the info on Revdex.com its time to shut them down for there behavior.

I am filing this complaint on behalf of my 81 year old mother ***, account who has been taken advantaged of by this companies practices. My mother was led to believe by advertisement sent to her that this was a renewal of her existing home warranty service. This was actually a completely different company that after signing up now auto debits from my mothers account over 100 dollars a month! Now her account and fixed income is being hit by her existing warranty and this warranty. When she realized this agreement was by mistake she attempted to cancel by phone and was repeatedly harassed. She was told in order to move forward she would have to sell her home first! It was insane the way they were speaking to my mother and treating her. I got involved and forced them to explain how my mother could cancel. They instructed us to fill out a form in a back of a booklet and IT CLEARLY STATED CANCELLATION. Despite us following these instructions they still CHARGED MY Mothers BANK ACCOUNT AGAIN. This is absolutely ridiculous. Don't trust these people they are scammers, thief's, liars, and take serious advantage of seniors by confusing them and then harassing them when they try and leave. The liar told us to mail it to *** because he told us it would be "faster" , even though the form had ***. We called to ensure they received the cancellation and was AGAIN harassed about canceling. He rudely told us it was canceled and promised to send a confirmation but never did. WE DEMAND a cancellation AND for my mother to be REFUNDED HER MONEY BACK debited from her account in May, clearly AFTER THE CANCELLATION.

On or about the week of May 11, 2020 my 92 year old mother and I called in a claim for her Amana refrigerator (only the bottom drawers of the fridge and freezer worked but neither keep food cold and freezes). The repairman arrived on May 19th but only stayed 3 minutes, and on his way out of the door said the compressor overheated, he reconnected the fan and it should be fine and to monitor it over night. The next morning there was not change, just as we thought it would be as no repairs, tools or thorough diagnosis of the refrigerator was conducted within 3 minute appointment. We called the claims dept. the next day and expressed our dissatisfaction with the so-called service professional and was told to wait an additional 2 days for another service person to come out and appropriately evaluate the appliance. It is now 3 WEEKS LATER AND NOT ONE PHONE CALL or appointment has been made. We have called 4 times about this and we keep getting promises of service. My mother has been charged $118.40 per month since 2019. Now her refrigerator side has not stopped working and food has been disposed of while waiting on repairs this warranty did not provide according to the policy.

To Whom It May Concern,
*** contacted Aegis Home Warranty Group on September 26th, 2018 and purchased the contract for the property ***. On 5/12/20 *** contacted the Administrator to start a claim on her refrigerator. On 5/19/20 a service provider was dispatched to *** residence. On 5/21/20 the Administrator authorized the refrigerator repair and ordered the needed replacement parts. On 6/3/20 the repair was completed by the service provider. On 6/4/20 *** advised the Administrator that the repair did not fix the issues with her refrigerator. The Administrator requested a return order from the service provider. On 6/19/20 the service provider confirms the refrigerator is irreparable and the Administrator approves a cash settlement to ***, per her contract terms and conditions. I am writing on behalf of my 90 year old mother. Last August, she received the "pink letter" others have mentioned from AWG Home Warranty Division, with the header "IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED" and "URGENT AND TIME SENSITIVE - IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED". The letter stated that her current home warranty had expired or was about to expire and that she was a risk of having liability. She has some cognitive challenges following a mini-stroke, and she believed she was at risk of losing her home insurance for fire, flood, etc. She signed up for this home warranty and between 8/21/2019 and 5/19/2020 has paid $2,237.20 in premiums, debited from her account monthly ($215.80/mo after the first $295 payment). It was only when I was reviewing her bank accounts recently (as her power of attorney) that I noticed these charges. I also looked at other home warranty providers that will provide the same level of coverage for about a quarter of the cost.

Thank you for your assistance - ***

PS - I have provided my mother's name and address. The phone number and e-mail address are mine.

I am writing this for my mother. My 88 year old mother was called by this company and told her that her home warranty was about to expire. She did not think it was going to expire soon so she questioned them. They convinced her that she needed to pay $595. to continue her home warranty. She agreed and gave them the cc information. When she hung up she found her home warranty paperwork and saw that not only was it not going to expire soon but it was a totally different company that contacted her and took her money. We have tried to dispute and call and nothing has been resolved. This has cause major stress to my mother and this company obviously preys on the elderly and scams them. This is clear deception and I cannot believe anyone would want to deceive someone this way.

Customer Response • Jun 02, 2020

The actual amount paid to date is $595.00

Aegis Home Warranty Group Response • Jun 30, 2020

Thank you for contacting Aegis Home Warranty Group regarding your concerns. We would like to address each of your concerns in an attempt to find a mutually agreeable resolution.
On February 21st, 2020 your mother, *** called into our activation department after receiving an advertisement flyer by mail regarding an offer to purchase a new Home Protection Plan.
Your mother had a great conversation with our Activation Specialist and decided on that phone call to setup a Home Protection Plan on her home. Aegis Home Warranty group does not deny access to a Home Protection Plan to any customer due to age, ability or affordability. We stand behind our belief that everyone has a right to protect their home and budget. The initial down payment of $595 was processed that same day. On March 23rd, 2020 we received a transaction dispute notification from *** that the initial $595 processed on February 21st, 2020 were being debited from our business account. On March 31st, 2020, our office responded to the *** dispute with all supporting documentation from *** activation call.
When *** contacted our office on May 13th, 2020 requesting to discontinue *** Home Protection Plan, our Customer Support representative let *** know we would need *** voice authorization or Power Of Attorney (POA) documentation to give *** any access to *** account with Aegis Home Warranty Group. On June 9th, 2020 we received ***’s POA documentation dated in-effect as of June 8th, 2020. We then agreed to issue a full refund to *** if/when we receive credit from *** for the disputed activation payment. The initial activation payment of $595 was the only transaction processed by Aegis Home Warranty Group. As of today, we have not received any further response or credits from *** regarding the disputed funds. *** Home Protection Plan was cancelled as of April 21st, 2020.
At your request we have removed your mother and her home address from our internal advertising (mailing) lists and
added both phone numbers for *** to our internal “Do Not Call” list.
If you have any other questions or concerns which we can address, please continue to contact our Aegis Customer Support team *** in the future. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for allowing us to address your concerns with Aegis Home Warranty Group.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: The credit card company is disputing this purchase and has it on hold until July 15th.

Sincerely

I do not appreciate threatening mail solicitations to my 92 yr old senile mother who takes every “respond immediately” to heart. Have canceled her last home warranty purchase with Aegis ( or whatever name they advertise under). But, only after listening to Rob repeat over and over again his sales pitch. Enjoyed his attempt at trying to make me feel guilty for “not wanting to protect my mother”. Well Rob, I am protecting her from businesses like yours!!

I am writing this for my mother *** who is 92 years old.
She received a letter in the mail saying her home warranty was about to expire
And she being old misunderstood and thought they were talking about her home owners insurance. So she called these people AWG home warranty
It appears it is a subsidiary of this business. They talked her in to buying this home warranty and charged her C.C. 590$ when they said charge 290$
A down payment these companies prey on old people that dont understand. I hope to have her money refunded. She did this last week then was afraid to tell me about it. So I hope something can be done about this.
My name is *** I am her son. It is my email address provided all other contact information is my moms.

Aegis Home Warranty Group Response • Mar 26, 2020

As requested we have cancelled the customers account, refunded $595.00 back to her card, and have put her information on the DO NOT CALL list.

Customer may call to get confirmation number for the refund.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

I called Aegis today to cancel my warranty, I spoke with Rob, who was totally awesome. Rob and I shared some personal experiences during my cancellation call. Rob asked why was I cancelling and I told him I found another warranty company whose premiums were much cheaper than what I was paying Aegis. Rob took his time and asked me legitimate questions concerning my cancellation and how he could be of help so that I would not lose out on the hundreds of dollars that I have already invested into Aegis's warranty plan. Rob was able to offer me the same exact coverages that I initially had at a lower monthly payment and was able to extend my payment plan. Rob was in tune to my hardship, he showed empathy, was genuinely concerned and truly looked into any and all options for me to keep my warranty.
Before writing this review I looked at the previous comments whether true or false, and they have made me even more grateful that I got the chance to speak with Rob today, he was and still is a blessing that was on the other end of the phone. When you think about Customer Service and what it means to you, for me, Rob is the poster board of Customer Service, he went way above and beyond for my customer satisfaction and has helped to ease a burden that I foreseen into the near future. I truly thank Rob for all that he has done for me today, I just made a long distance friend in Rob and I pray that him and his daughter has a prosperous lifetime journey together for all greatness and that he stays humble and blessed as he has blessed me today.

THANK YOU ROB:)

I received a letter from this company claiming my home warranty was about to expire. I have never had a home warranty so I feel that this is misleading. I feel like this is a scam and others should be aware of this.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID.It's disappointing if they are a "reputable" company that they have to advertise in a manner which is demeaning to the clients they are seeking with such hype and intimidation. In my case it was not even relevant as I have never had a home warranty. The resolution will be satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

Milton Hollis is receiving a pink notice requesting enrollment for a home warranty. We do not wish to receive any notices under this name and/or address for your warranty program.

Please see the attached response to this complaint. Thank you!

I was enrolled over the phone- despite my phone line requesting no solicitations- and now I have to request in writing for 2 different locations. It's deceptive and they didn't tell me that I had to use a predetermined contractor of their choice, that the service may not be covered, and I was rushed through the entire process. When I signed up, they told me I could cancel anytime, but didn't specify how or where.

Aegis Home Warranty Group Response • Jan 09, 2020

Please see the attached response to complaint ***. Thank you!

Scam operation. Received envelope marked "Personal & Confidential - Open Immediately!" Terroristic advertising tactics are not used by legit companies. Pink letter from AWG (had to ask rep what the real name was, he confirmed Aegis.) Letter states home warranty (never existed) secured by Bank (out of business since 2009) is expiring and to call immediately. Rude rep Joe attempted to bleed me of personal information in order to sell me garbage home warranty for "only $170 a month." My brand new dishwasher only cost me $300. This is a scam/fraud company. Don't fall for these terroristic tactics used by thieves and liars. Will be posting this everywhere, have also contacted ***, ***, and Revdex.com, filed formal complaints against lying scammers.

Home warranty service mailing, called number and elderly person forced to give credit card over phone, now in contract for 3,000.00

Aegis Home Warranty Group Response • Dec 04, 2019

Please see the attached formal response to this complaint. We appreciate the opportunity to respond and address *** concerns.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to *** filing.
Aegis reviewed the telephone recordings mentioned in *** complaint, along with all associated customer records. *** called Aegis on November 11, 2019 inquiring about a mailer that was received. During that conversation, *** opted to purchase a home protection plan, authorized the down payment and the setup of subsequent monthly payments. She was thankful at the closing of the call.

We regret any upset caused to *** as a result of her conversation with our company. Aegis markets and sells legitimate home service contracts with a proven record of honoring and fulfilling customer claims on such contracts. Aegis believes in the value of having a home warranty. The sense of urgency to have a home warranty in place stems from the fact that, if such a warranty is in place before the appliance breaks, then the consumer avoids paying the full cost of the repair or replacement. Aegis offers consumers the opportunity of peace of mind once a home warranty service contract is in place.
Aegis has opted to cancel the contract effective November 26, 2019. The refund was processed to *** card the same day. All future payments are now cancelled, and Aegis has removed *** information from future marketing correspondence. We appreciate the opportunity to respond and we are hopeful this information resolves *** complaint.
