AEM Induction Systems Reviews (%countItem)

I ordered an intake and received it on june 21st but I had purchased a new car the day before so I sent the intake back the same day I received it and waited a couple weeks for a refund and never got it so I called and they said it could take 3 weeks due to covid which is understandable so I waited another week and called back and they said they were slow because of covid so then I called again on july 21st and was told they were sending an email to the manager or supervisor to get my refund and it should take 10 business days and its now been 19 days and I havent seen a refund

The packaging for the AEM® - DryFlow® Panel Red Air Filter, part number 28-0031, makes false claims that it will fit 2000-2019 Nissan Pathfinders. However, this product does NOT fit a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder SE and Nissan Motors did NOT start making 3.5L engines until 2001. Also, the AEMINTAKES.COM website search engine claims that part number 23-0021 will fit 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 Nissan Pathfinders with a 3.3L engine which is also WRONG. Furthermore, AEM's misleading catalog information database is being populated to its online distributors' across the USA. These resellers are unknowingly selling a product that doesn't fit 1996-2000 Nissan Pathfinders with 3.3L engines which can cause problems for their business with returns and complaints, etc.

AEM Induction Systems Response • Sep 12, 2019

Thank you for notifying us of the complaint filed against AEM Induction Systems by Mr. *** of Newport, NC. I have read the complaint and the part numbers noted by Mr., (28-0031 and 23-0021) are not valid part numbers. Mr *** states Nissan did NOT start making 3.5L engines until 2001 for the Pathfinder. That is not entirely accurate. We believe Mr. failed to realize that we also serve a large range of Inter***al customers. While vehicles in the U.S. are classified by their “Model Year”, vehicles outside the U.S. such as in Japan, Australia, and many parts of Europe including the UK and Germany are categorized by their “Production Year”. The Nissan Pathfinder was offered to Inter***al customers with a 3.5L V6 engine for the 2000 production year. I have reached out to Mr. personally via phone, and explained this to him. He was receptive and acknowledged that he omitted to consider that we also cater to Inter***al customers.

Although the part numbers listed in Mr.’s formal Revdex.com complaint are incorrect, I did confirm that Mr. has the correct part designed to fit a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder. This was done using the production mold number that is stamped into each of our parts. Mr. actually has the 28-20031 in his possession, which is the correct filter for his application. https://www.aemintakes.com/air-filters/28-20031-aem-dryflow-air-filter

I invited Mr. to email any images that support his claim that the AEM part does not physically fit his application; I have yet to receive those images. I also explained that we have a full Customer Support Team on staff to provide installation guidance. Our Customer Support Team is available via phone, email, fax, as well as live electronic chat. Details on how to contact our customer support team are located here: https://www.aemintakes.com/contact-us

The AEM OE Replacement Filter purchased by Mr. also carries AEM’s Lifetime limited Warranty. If Mr *** believes the product may qualify for warranty consideration, he may contact us. Here is more information about our warranty: https://www.aemintakes.com/warranty.htm

I don’t know how else to help or assist in this manner. Our application data is correct as we use a standardized system of vehicle information for our industry. Our product fitment has been verified through our Research & Development Team for all applications listed on our website. We have zero recorded instances of fitment issues for our filter designed for the 2000 Nissan Pathfinder.

In regards to Mr.s desired settlement:
We are not falsely advertising our application data; Mr. just neglected to realize that we make products that fit vehicles in markets outside the U.S. We don’t even make a part number 28-0031. We have no control over promises made on Third Party Website’s. However, we support all authorized distributors and dealers of our product with current, verified and accurate information about our products. We also include a dealer locator on our website to help customers locate an authorized dealer near them. https://www.aemintakes.com/dealersearch It is not realistic for us to list every compatible vehicle that our products fit onto product packaging. Often times, one of our part numbers can fit upwards of 120+ different vehicles. There is no realistic way for us to list that information on a product part number label. We rely on our website to supply that information. Having application data on our website also ensures that data is always current as we can update that data instantly as new vehicle models are released.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any further questions about this claim. I hope to have this resolved ASAP. We take pride in the reputation that we have built over 32 years of designing industry leading performance air filters and induction systems. We would be disappointed if that reputation was tarnished simply due to a customer misunderstanding our product application data or by a customer who is incapable of installing our parts given the numerous product assistance resources we offer.

Thank you,

Customer Response • Sep 13, 2019

I am rejecting this response because: Photos were emailed to ***@aemintakes.com per request on August 22, 2019 after speaking with *** on the phone. It's easy to see from the photos I sent to him the part in question DOES NOT FIT my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder SE. I really wanted to use their product, but it doesn't fit a 3.3 L engine. He mentions they should fit inter***al vehicles--they might be 3.5L engines--but they DO NOT FIT vehicles with 3.3L engines I mentioned previously in America.I know this is true from my personal experience with the product. Here are examples of Air Filters that works correctly:https://www.knfilters.com/nissan/pathfinder/3.3l/2000Take a look at the YouTube video and you can see the air filter is super easy to install.https://youtu.be/OeMg8_8MW0oThe AEM product just doesn't work correctly. I have attached a photo here so you can see why it doesn't fit.Best Regards,***PS—Is it possible the filter that I was sold is defective?
