Aero Ventilation Reviews (2)

Review: On October 26. 2013 I had a chimney flue installed and paid for it at the time. I was given a life time warrantee and was promised in writing a yearly checkup. This year October 26 came and went and no checkup. I called them three times and the last time I told them if I did not hear by today, I would contact the Revdex.com. My paper has the address as 1000 N. West Street, Suite 1200, Wilmington, DE 19801, [redacted] I was told by the workers they were affiliated with the company in Canada.Desired Settlement: I would like the work checked and hope I can be assured that it will be checked yearly as I have a life time warranty.

Review: This company solicits door to door for chimney cleaning/ repair services, claiming that they were in the neighborhood servicing other chimneys. Upon inspection of the chimney on Saratoga Ave in March 2013, they said that the chimney was in bad shape and needed a liner. Since I was unaware of the chimney ever being serviced, I agreed, The cost was $1377 paid by credit card. Fast forward to Oct 31 2013. I authorized service on the heating unit, a boiler, in order that it can be turned on for the winter. Upon starting the furnace, a HIGH CARBON MONOXIDE reading was taken. I am aware that high CO readings can happen when the exhaust chimney is clogged, but I just had the a new chimney liner installed in March. I asked the technician to shut the furnace down and let me call the chimney company. When I called on Nov 4, I was told that there were no technicians working in my area and that they would call back when someone could come. I emphasized to the representative that there will be no heat in the home pending their service call. On NOV 21 the technician from Aero Ventilation came by and confirmed that the chimney was clear. On Saturday Nov 2, the HVAC technician came back and started the furnace to troubleshoot the problem. Upon investigation, he noticed that the connection for the water heater exhaust had been incorrectly re-connected (vented down instead of up) when the chimney liner was installed. The incorrect connection was causing the exhaust from the furnace to exit into the basement instead of out through the chimney like it is supposed to. I told him that I would try to call the chimney company to get them to fix. I called the 800 number and left a message. The weekend of Nov 2, was the coldest weekend of the fall in DC thus far, and now, due to the faulty installation, the house had NO HEAT as well as NO HOT WATER! I asked the HVAC if there was an interim solution. I paid for him to try to vent the exhaust out of the window, but it did not work. Still no heat and hot water for the weekend. On Monday, I searched the internet for another phone number for the company and found a blog where another customer complained of the same problem in Dec 2012. Aero Ventilation also had re-connected her water heater not according to code. The blogger gave another phone number for them in her complaint and said that when alerted of the issue, they came 2 days later to fix the problem. I called the number in the blog and spoke with the same lady that I had spoken with before in Oct. I recognized her voice. I told her about the problem and she said she would call me back. When she did call back, she told me of the things that I could do to fix the problem. I told her that I did not have this problem before Aero Ventilation did their installation. And I told her that I was aware that they have had this problem before and THEY corrected it. She told me to hold on, and she hung up the phone!Since then, I called at least 5 times, and left messages with no response. I called the Delaware attorney general who said that address is a mailbox store so check with Pennsylvania Attorney general due to the 610 area code! I called PA attorney general, who investigated the phone number and said that it is registered to an auto-dialer system! I called the DC attorney general, and as of today Dec 2, they are investigating. There is still NO HEAT and NO HOT WATER in the house. My mother is an 86 year old disabled woman, who is there all day with nurses that care for her. As of today, the HVAC technician is there tring to figure out a way to correctly fix the problem that Aero Ventilation created. The cost to do so, has the potential of being upwards of $1200! I have my receipt from Aero Ventilation, pictures of what they did and a print out of the blog that I saw.My REAL concern is for any of my neighbors who used Aero Ventilation's services. All houses in my neighborhood are made pretty much the same, which means if AV installed a chimney liner for them, their home will also experience the HIGH CO levels that we did. The good thing is that we caught it before any disaster could happen, however, but everybody does not have their furnace serviced before tuning on the heat for the winter!Desired Settlement: Since I have to pay for additional services that were not needed BEFORE Areo Ventilation so called "fixed my chimney", I am requesting that they either pay for my current repair OR refund what I paid their service.
