Affiliated Movers of Oklahoma City, LLC Reviews (2)

Once we learned the customer was missing box of chords the crew was contacted to check the truck for anything that could have been left on it. They did not find any boxes left and specifically remember placing a box fitting the description in the garage where several other boxes and items were...

placed.  It is not uncommon to find items several months later when everything is unpacked. The crew did protect the floor with padding. We were not aware of any damage but would have no problem beginning the claims process for any scratches that were caused during the move.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/26) */
Customer agreed in writing to stay with move crew until all items were loaded and that was not adhered to. Customer lent the crew her screw driver and failed to retrieve when they left as she was not present at time of crew departure. Although...

responsibility should be shared, there was no fee assessed to customer for the 4 hours it took to find her screwdriver which she demanded (per e-mail) to have found immediately on a Saturday morning. Once finally found she demanded it then be mailed to her. We obliged and covered the shipping expense- again not assessing any fee for her part in the responsibility of her tools.
Due to the busy peak summer season, customer was advised it would take 2 weeks to set up a driver to come through to pick up her items going out of state once she provided us with an address. E-mails dated 7/14 and 7/23 advised operations was working to put her items on the next available truck, but delivery could be made the second week of August. Customer declined and decided to use another carrier instead to ship her items from our warehouse to WI. We understood and advised in an e-mail dated 7/23 that we would be willing to stay open until 7pm or come in on a Saturday to release her shipment at No extra charge. Customer stated the other shipping company would arrive towards the end of the month, but we requested a few days’ notice so that we could schedule a crew to pull her crated items as we were coming into the end of July which is the busiest 5 days of the year.
We received an e-mail on 7/30 at 8:47 am with 3 hours’ notice that the other company would be at the warehouse to load her items before 12 Noon. The warehouse was covered up that day and we could not accommodate so we had crews stay late to prepare her shipment for the following morning. Again- with No extra fee assessed to the customer.
Items were promptly released to the other shipping company on 7/31 between 9-11 am. All items were checked off and released to that driver and copies of the inventories were given to him. There was no call or claim filed for any missing or damaged items.
Customer has estimates and documentation showing us as an agent for Arpin Van Lines. I’m not sure why customer is confused on local agent and Van Line affiliation.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the events of this complaint and the direct cost caused to our company as a result of the customer’s actions, we respectfully request this complaint not be posted on the Revdex.com website. We can provide all e-mail and signed documentation to provide proof of our statements.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/08/26) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Concern 1
I was present when the crew arrived at my home, along with my friend who was there to help. I left for twenty minutes to pick up additional cash, since there was an additional crew member I had not accounted for. I returned and they had not yet started on my furniture. I offered the tool since the crew had none, and they were having difficulties with my bed. I remained at the house for the entire move, then proceeded to my office- both vans following right behind me- for the second pickup I had spoken with both the office and the crew about. The only item of furniture at my office was a drawing table that required no tools for disassembly. I unlocked the office, watched them load the truck, and re-locked my office. I asked the crew chief if I needed to go to the storage facility with them- he said that I did not. At that time I signed the inventory and tipped each crew member $20 in cash. I watched the truck drive away. I am not sure where the idea came from that I was not present when the crew left.
I expressed concern over the screwgun- more expensive than a screwdriver- because I was leaving town on a very tight schedule. My exact words were 'please handle this as soon as possible'. I did not say anything about Saturday morning, except to thank the gentleman for going to work to find it after the fact. Yes, my email expressed my frustration and my fear of losing an important tool. I expressed the fact that a company that relies upon trust should want to return an item taken from a home without the owner's permission or knowledge. At the time my property left my home, every item had already been disassembled and I had all of the hardware. There should not have been a need for the tool at the storage warehouse.
Concern 2
Delivery was not advised for the second week of August, but for August 18th. I was to be out of town for a business meeting at that time. Within a day I found another company to retrieve my belongings.
Concern 3
In my email to Affiliated movers I did in fact offer the dates 'July 29, 30, 31st' for pick-up; not 'towards the end of the month' as stated. The office requested that it not be on a weekend; I quickly obliged and contacted the second moving company about that. The minute I knew the company was in town for pickup I called the office, as I was not aware that they did not have a forklift on the premises throughout the week. To be frank, I felt that the 3-day window I gave them was much more helpful than the 18-day window they offered me for delivery. I was never informed that there might have been a separate fee for accessing a storage container, as my understanding was that it was part of the service they offered. I do not understand how they stayed late on July 30th, since the information I was given stated that the forklift driver would not be onsite until the following morning just before the new moving crew arrived, and I was not informed that there were further adjustments needed to access the storage unit.
Concern 4
I respect that this company is affiliated with Arpin Vanlines. I honor the idea that I should have known, though I was told a 'white van' would be there for pick up and I did not go through their website to find them, but through a separate website that did not list Arpin as an affiliate.
Concern 5
I am still not positive how my actions caused extreme cost to the company, as I paid for the pick-up and storage of my goods. This writer does not mention the iPhone speaker dock, nor the fact that he stated repeatedly that both items were 'packed by the movers' and part of my inventory. Again, neither was listed on the manifest, the movers did not pack any of my boxes, and neither item had a red sticker like every other item. More than anything, I would like to address this fallacy.
Concern 6
I have been straightforward with my concerns, and repeatedly I find that this company denies those concerns. This writer does not mention the verbal barrage I received over the phone when I attempted to express my frustration to the manager in a more appropriate, timely manner. I was raised in the business world and taught that if the company does not know of the issues, they cannot fix them. I was attempting to find a way for this to not happen to anyone else in the future.
Conclusion
I would deeply appreciate an apology and acknowledgement of the issue, and a reimbursement of the $250 overnight fee I assumed when the second moving company was delayed in their pick-up.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2015/08/28) */
The customers iphone speaker dock was found and returned. It was picked up from our office.
We stand by our original response and the provided documents that show our requests for notice of the actual date the other company would arrive so that we could have time to retrieve and stage the customers crated contents.
