I am rejecting this response because: They cannot just walk away with selling a commercial Truck tractor that is simply unable to perform the basic task of hauling.I am ruined because of unfair deal with CVTC and not only have lost all my savings but had to borrow from several sources so now I'm heavily in debt which has to be paid back in a month or two.My position also stands firm on this and I ask Revdex.com to escalate this issue to another level.Thank you for your support[redacted] ***

Customer brought truck into the shop on 5/12/17, for a check engine fault and engine going into derate. After downloading the fault codes on 5/12/17 we called the customer and advised him it was approximately 8 hours of labor to diagnose the codes and he approved it. Later that evening the... customer called back and argued that it shouldn’t take that long and said not to work on it. He would call our day shift advisor. On 5/13/17 he called the day shift advisor and only approved 4 hours of work. This is half of what is required to fully diagnose the code. The customer stated to only check what is related to the derate. The truck had three active fault codes; 4094 (high Nox in the exhaust), 5443 Hydrocarbon dosing module and 1231 for the data link system. The 1231 data link was diagnosed and repaired for a poor connection at the batteries. The 5443 hydrocarbon dosing module was diagnosed as a failed module and replaced. The third fault 4094 for high Nox value is the more complex code that required advanced diagnostics. We followed the manufacturer’s published troubleshooting guideline SNV 13-021. This revealed several failed components on the truck that can cause this fault code: a failed EGR valve which led to a plugged EGR cooler and sensor, broken bolts in the intake manifold, leaking exhaust pipe, and a plugged boost sensor. All of these parts are related to control of Nox production in the engine. CVTC received approval to repair these components. After replacing the components and performing a regen and a 15 mile road test, no faults returned. On May 25, the customer brought the truck back concerned that the check engine light returned. The 4094 Nox code did come back on, but not the 5443 not 1231 code. The service advisors and management explained to the customer that there are many more items involved in the 4094 code than what we worked on. It is possible other parts were damaged by the truck running with all the failed components. We explained to the customer that we need his authorization to continue working on the truck. If we find one of the parts we put on is failed it will be handled under warranty. However there is a chance it is another broken part and will be additional cost to him. The customer said he isn’t paying for anything and threatened to call his attorney and BBB. The customer has left the truck at Central Valley Truck Center but is choosing not to fix it at this time. CVTC understands the customer’s concern over this failure, as it is generally difficult to diagnose and is costly. We believe the customer recently purchased this as a used truck, because he has an aftermarket warranty in place. These warranties only cover limited portions of this failure and to date have only reimbursed him $2,281.45 of the $6,230.58 he paid us. Additionally, we pulled a computer audit on this truck and found it has been in several independent shops and Volvo dealerships on multiple occasions since March of 2017 with this 4094 code. These codes can be difficult to diagnose, especially if the previous owner ignored the symptoms before selling the truck. CVTC cannot predict the final diagnostic time required nor associated costs. The next diagnostic step CVTC would recommend is to run a data log to monitor all components of the engine to check various items are running within specifications. Past failures have ranged from failed injectors to SCR mufflers. We welcome the customer’s business, with accompanying signed approvals; however, any Volvo dealer in the country is equipped to continue from where we have stopped.

we have since had with Mr. [redacted]. CVTC has no financial liability toward repair of the used truck he purchased. Mr. [redacted] is new to this industry and just starting his business. CVTC felt compassion for the lack of finances Mr. [redacted] had on hand to sustain the operation of a used vehicle; therefor, as a gesture of good faith we offered to make his first loan payment because the lenders were already calling us for his non-payment. CVTC feels we have been fair. We will not pay for repairs on his used vehicle or take the truck back in exchange for a different used vehicle. We continue to wish Mr. [redacted] much success in his new business venture.

Central Valley Truck Center stands firm and do so do I. I went to pick up the truck from CVTC on Saturday June 10 and, to my surprise, I was hit with another bill of $207. I never authorized any work done on the truck whether it be diagnostics or otherwise. They took it upon themselves to do it without notifying me. I call that stealing or being ripped off...AGAIN!!!
