Revdex.com: I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below On March 13, Affordable Automotive Repair’s (AAR) responded to my complaint of February 22, concerning AAR’s performance of services on my [redacted] that was first taken to them for repair on September 5, Unfortunately, I find AAR’s reply to be unsatisfactory AAR’s refuses to accept any responsibility for the work they performed during the period September 5, to February 2, because they claim I over filled the engine with oil AAR claims that they found quarts of oil in the engine on January 31, AAR has produced no evidence to support this claim I believe that AAR is misleading the Revdex.com in this regard by taking what I have said in past conversationsWhat I previously said, was that after AAR performed work on my vehicle I was forced to add some quarts of oil over a period of six weeks. When that number (9) is added to the operating oil capacity of the engine of quarts one comes up with the number At no time did I ever put quarts of oil into the engine at any one time, nor did I ever add any oil to the engine without first checking the dipstick Since over filling the engine with oil is not what happened in this case, we need to look at the service provided by AAR to determine if it is more likely than not as the cause of the damage to my vehicle I believe that all of the damage sustained can be directly traced back to AAR’s removal of the engine in order to replace the timing chain Removal of the engine followed by its re-installation, if not done professionally, could easily cause the damages noted In particular, if one is not careful, one can puncture the radiator (which happened); the transmission which has to be disconnected during this operation couldhave its gears damaged (which happened with my reverse gear and its sensors); if the oil pan is not properly reassembled the loss of oil is a likely consequence (which happened); and generally failure to reassemble the engine properly can lead to the damages I have noted I have consulted several certified automotive technicians, multiple [redacted] Dealership Service Departments, as well as [redacted] of North America about this matter and they all agree with my assessmentStating quarts of oil could NOT fit in that engine, wouldn't be able to screw the oil cap on, as it would be overflowing with oil; the engine would not start; the engine would not run (let alone drive for over a month); the engine would be "Hydrolocked"; one technician went as far as to state " if you tried to start an engine that had that much oil in it, the dipstick would shoot out of the engine."These technicians have all indicated a willingness to provide their expert opinions if necessary to resolve this complaint I request that AAR settle this matter by reimbursing the amount of money I paid for their services ($***.**) This is not the total amount of money I have had to pay out of my pocket for this situation Regards, [redacted] [redacted]

Revdex.com spoke with the businessThis customer's deposit and vehicle have been returned

They are awesomeGreat customer service, fast, dependable and affordableThe owner is very involved with the work that is being done to your vehicleThey fix what's wrong with your vehicle and don't find other things to fix that don't need to be fixed I love going to Affordable Auto Repair they always make you feel welcome

To Whom it may concern, on 9/5/Mrs*** brought her vehicle in for service (engine making noise) it was in fact a timing chain issue ( the timing chain tensioner was broken) while we were performing the necessary repairs we did have a few issues where we needed to call our customer
back a couple of times for items that came up, other parts that were found to be needed or recommended to be replaced while we had the vehicle apartAnother time we had to call the customer back to let them know we might not have the vehicle ready by the intended date because we were held up by a few parts not getting to us in timeMrs *** was ok with that, but I Brad J*** (Owner or Affordable) was not happy with that news I exhausted all my options and was able to get those parts here on timeMrs *** pick up her vehicle (9/11/17). The next day we received a phone call from Mrs*** stating there was an oil leak coming from here vehicle, she was told to bring the vehicle back so we can take a look and see what was going onwe found that the oil pan was leaking and this was a part we had off of the engine so it was covered under warranty and we took care of the issue and fixed the concernAbout months later on 11/28/Mrs*** called to tell us her van was making the same noise as before so we informed her to check the oil before bringing it to us (which she had let us know multiple times she was capable & very mechanically inclined) she stated to us the oil was full and and she would bring down the vehicle for us to take a look at itupon our inspection we didn't hear the noise she was describing, but we found that there was only quarts of oil in the engine out of a quart systemwe performed an oil change and while still inspecting for a noise we found the alternator bolt a little loose and when we went to tighten up it had snappedwe called to let her know we were going to take care of this issue for her and that we never heard the noise she was complaining aboutnext day the vehicle was picked up and all was good. I (Brad J***) then received an E-Mail about how she was dissatisfied with our work and that her vehicle now has other issues that were never there before we worked on itI called her to talk about each issue she was having, the transmission didn't go into reverse once2nd when in reverse this vehicle was equipped with a back up buzzer and now that wasn't workingnow her vehicle is smoking very bad from tail pipe and running poorlyI let Mrs*** know that I stand behind my business 110% and all of our work so what I would do is have her vehicle towed down to us and if there was anything at all caused by Affordable Automotive I would pay the tow bill, but if not she would have to pay itI (Brad J*** Owner & ASE Certified Master Mechanic) took the time to look into all her issues to see the root cause I spent about hours looking into everything (without charging a dime) First I found the vehicle to be running poor just as described, first thing I wanted to check was the engine oil ( due to the fact Mrs*** had informed me (over the phone & by E-Mail) she had been putting oil in the engine since December thinking she had an oil leak, but when asked if she had seen any oil on the ground where she had been parking she stated no, but she has bought and used quarts of oil since December. so when the oil level was checked it was found to be over fullso when I drained the oil, I drained it in to a measuring deviceI Discovered that there was approximatley quarts of oil in a quart systemThe oil that she had been putting in wasn't leaking or going anywhere seeing how it was all accounted foronce drained and proper amount of oil was installed the engine was running like it should and not smoking anymoreI diagnosed the backup alarm as a faulty buzzer (this buzzer in under the dash panel inside the car & no where around where we were working when the vehicle came in for repairslast concern about transmission not going into reverse was never experiencedAfter all of this I called Mrs*** back to explain everything I had foundshe returned my phone call days later as a conference call which also had her brother on the line to listen to everything (I was told that he was a mechanic) so he could verify what I was going to saywhile explaining everything to the both of them I had said "that due to my findings and with the oil overfull by so much, that Affordable Automotive could be held responsible for any issues that could come up about the engine because internal damage could have occurred & warranty would be void" I explained the fact that having to much oil can cause aeration which can cause air pockets in the oil system and can cause components to not get the proper lubrication and cause damage to internal parts of the engineSince she had been driving for over a month with too much oil there is no way we could be liable for their incompetence and lack of automotive knowledge. She is right she didn't sign any of that paperwork because she couldn't even come pick her vehicle up she had her Brother do it and he wanted to pick it up after work hoursEven so everything was explained to the fullest extent and I Brad J*** went above and beyond to show Mrs*** we stand behind our work and that nothing was due to our workmanship. Because of this there will be absolutely NO REFUND or any kind of settlement on our end.Thank you,Brad J***Owner of Affordable Automotive Repair

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.1. On March 13, Affordable Automotive Repair’s (AAR) responded to my complaint of February 22, concerning AAR’s performance of services on my Nissan *** that was first taken to them for repair on September 5, 2017. Unfortunately, I find AAR’s reply to be unsatisfactory. 2. AAR’s refuses to accept any responsibility for the work they performed during the period September 5, to February 2, because they claim I over filled the engine with oil. AAR claims that they found quarts of oil in the engine on January 31, 2018. AAR has produced no evidence to support this claim. I believe that AAR is misleading the Revdex.com in this regard by taking what I have said in past conversations. What I previously said, was that after AAR performed work on my vehicle I was forced to add some quarts of oil over a period of six weeks. When that number (9) is added to the operating oil capacity of the engine of quarts one comes up with the number 13. At no time did I ever put quarts of oil into the engine at any one time, nor did I ever add any oil to the engine without first checking the dipstick.3. Since over filling the engine with oil is not what happened in this case, we need to look at the service provided by AAR to determine if it is more likely than not as the cause of the damage to my vehicle. I believe that all of the damage sustained can be directly traced back to AAR’s removal of the engine in order to replace the timing chain.4. Removal of the engine followed by its re-installation, if not done professionally, could easily cause the damages noted. In particular, if one is not careful, one can puncture the radiator (which happened); the transmission which has to be disconnected during this operation couldhave its gears damaged (which happened with my reverse gear and its sensors); if the oil pan is not properly reassembled the loss of oil is a likely consequence (which happened); and generally failure to reassemble the engine properly can lead to the damages I have noted.5. I have consulted several certified automotive technicians, multiple Nissan Dealership Service Departments, as well as Nissan of North America about this matter and they all agree with my assessmentStating quarts of oil could NOT fit in that engine, wouldn't be able to screw the oil cap on, as it would be overflowing with oil; the engine would not start; the engine would not run (let alone drive for over a month); the engine would be "Hydrolocked"; one technician went as far as to state " if you tried to start an engine that had that much oil in it, the dipstick would shoot out of the engine."These technicians have all indicated a willingness to provide their expert opinions if necessary to resolve this complaint.6. I request that AAR settle this matter by reimbursing the amount of money I paid for their services ($***.**). This is not the total amount of money I have had to pay out of my pocket for this situation

Review: I got a quote of 1100.00$ to pull, repair, and re install my transmission, after 2 weeks I got a phone call saying the cist is now 3500.00$ if I want my truck back, I refuse, now they say that if I don't pay my truck, that I drove to them, will be towed to my house, with the transmission in the bed of the truck, in pieces. .....Desired Settlement: I want my truck fixed per agreement
