Review: We retained the services of [redacted], aka: "Shasta Paralegal and Affordable Bankruptcy Center" to file our Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, which she did not do. We called the Bankruptcy Court in Sacramento and they informed us that no filing had taken place.
We were charged a fee of $800.00, which we paid her. However, anyone in California that prepares Bankruptcies, and is not an attorney, cannot charge more than $125.00. We would like a full refund of our $800.00 payment for services rendered, plus $32.50 that we had to pay for someone else to assist with this matter.
[redacted] lists herself as a "paralegal." In California, a person is only allowed to say they are a "paralegal" if they work directly under an attorney. She may have worked with her husband, who may have been an attorney, but when we looked him up on the State Bar Website, it listed him as, "deceased."
