Affordable Cleaning Solutions, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: I initially hired Affordable Cleaning Solutions, Inc. to deep clean my home on 6/11/14 and paid $320 for the job. I then placed a stop payment on my check when I realized that the house was left filthy and I had been charged extra for tasks listed on their website as included in a regular cleaning and charged an illegal tax for their service. The two cleaners arrived late and without all equipment necessary. The laundry room was not touched, the dusting was not complete - both surfaces and lighting fixtures, the doors were not wiped clean, and the kitchen cabinets were not spot-cleaned. Rugs were not picked up to clean underneath, even the small rugs at the doors. The bathroom rugs were left thrown on upholstered furniture in the bedroom-toilet rug against my fabric chair - gross. After hours of them being in my home, I had to re-vacuum my entire house, dust the dining table, towel holders in the bathrooms, decorative pieces in the hallway, spot-clean the kitchen cabinets, wipe evidence of our dog from doors, begin from scratch in the laundry room, sanitize the bedroom chair, clean the lighting fixtures on the main floor and then underneath each of these, and then take medication for the headache that resulted from the perfumed products that they used. Our entire family suffers from allergies but they used Febreeze without asking-the scent remained a day later. It's a fact that the website with their list of tasks for "regular cleaning/deep cleaning" does not exist after I communicated my displeasure with their service and disputed the extra charges that I incurred and illegal sales tax. The company only shows up on the web through Home Advisor, yet my poor review has not posted. I was completely ripped off and our house should have been spotless for the price that I was charged. I communicated through their website in two different ways yet the only communication that I received in response was once my check was discovered to be stopped. The company called to threaten legal action.Desired Settlement: I want the Revdex.com to be aware of this company that's charging twice or more what other companies are charging and then an illegal sales tax on their service - which is of poor, negligent quality. I have stopped payment but would like resolution so that I do not receive any more phone calls threatening legal action. I have photos of the poor service, friends and neighbors that observed the house before and after the service.

Response:

The client who submitted this complaint clearly never intended to pay my company to clean the residence. Myself and another lady cleaned for 4 hours on a house that seemed to have been cleaned before we got there. I wiped down all doors upstairs because it was asked of me but it is not part of our deep clean which was discussed in our initial phone conversation. I explained to the client that when I come as far as I had to to clean her home that I normally do 2 residence so that it is worth the trip and I would not charge a traveling charge. I called and informed her that it took a little longer at the first residence and we were on our way. She (in a very friendly voice) said that was fine. Upon leaving the clients home I asked if she would like to walk through and make sure everything looked ok and she said that we needed to clean under a carpet and in front of the door so we did. I again asked if there was anything else and she then said everything looked great. As far as tax and the amount of her check it was 315.90. We do not charge tax she was paying for the cost of having her blinds washed and the amount of the Chemical is added to the price of cleaning blinds. We dust blinds regularly but as far as washing them it is not very common for my company as well as some other services so we do have to get those supplies on a case by case basis. When I called the Revdex.com I listened to a recording about customers should Try to contact the company first to resolve any problems and we have spoken by phone several times and never once did she contact me to express how unhappy she was. We will be going to court for payment and I have clients who have written statements and coming to court to express how satisfied they are with the work I do for them and that I clearly ask every time I leave for them to look over the home before paying me. If the house was filthy as the client has stated she should not have sent me out with the check.

Thank you

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I most certainly was charged a tax, and it was stated as such when she figured the bill on her phone calculator, but this will be a he said, she said situation. I intended to pay to the bill which is why she left with my check. It was only after I looked over the entire house that I realized she hadn't dusted, vacuumed thoroughly, nor cleaned the doors or our wood floors thoroughly, and the laundry room wasn't even touched. I stated before that since they were late for our appointment, I was late for a family gathering and couldn't examine my home thoroughly before they left. I also didn't have time to have them redo everything before they left due to our prior engagement. I was dissatisfied when they left but didn't fully realize how thoroughly ripped off I was being until further examination and further discussions and observations of my home by other people. I think it's odd that the web page for her company completely disappeared after I contacted her via email through her company webpage twice (this occurred that very same evening and I never received a response until they realized that the check was stopped). Once I compared my bill to the list of her regular cleaning tasks to what I was charged, I realized that her verbal quote and written quotes did not match - I was told to examine her website's list of pricing when we talked to set up our appointment. I don't mind paying for quality work done but my floors needed to be redone, both wood and carpets, the dusting needed to be done, as well as the cabinets and doors wiped, and the laundry room started from scratch. I contacted Home Advisor with my complaints and filled out a survey, suspiciously, my review has never posted to the website, nor has Home Advisor contacted me with my concerns.

Attached, please find my initial email to Lynette, sent through her company webpage. It was only after further examination the next morning that I decided to stop payment. And then it was two days later when I received a phone call from Lynette, after the check did not go through, she was not pleasant with her message. It was several days later when her husband called threatening legal action. I did not respond b/c we were out of town for an entire week.

I understand that this is a difficult case to work out b/c it's one person's word against the other but as a new company, I am shocked that this is their workmanship and manner in remediating disputes. I have witnesses as well who walked my home that very same evening and then the next morning. I also have pictures to show surfaces left covered with dust, carpets with grass and mulch still present, the laundry room untouched, bathroom carpets left slung on upholstered furniture, etc. I have shared my experience with the community and don't expect Botetourt to be an area that Affordable Cleaning Solutions has much more business in the future. If this goes further, I will post on Facebook and spread the word further. No one wants to open their home up to people who are dishonest and not hardworking. Our current contractor, carpet cleaner, plumber, and plaster laborer have all been forewarned against the company. Bad publicity and word of mouth should be a deterrent for unsatisfactory work, especially since her husband's side of the business has a lean on it. I wouldn't take the chance when this side of the business is paying all of the bills for their family but poor judgment goes along with poor workmanship and dishonest billing practices.

Response:

I would first like to say that I deeply apologize for the dissatisfaction of this customer. Myself and another lady came into the home and cleaned for 4 hours. I personally washed the baseboards and all the blinds. Most of the furniture I did not dust because I wiped it down with pledge or orange glow. I wiped all door frames and washed down all doors of the upstairs. I have cleaned quite a few homes in the short time I have been in business and I have never had any dissatisfied customers. So this makes a first. I would have been more than happy to come back and fix whatever problems there were at a later date but I was not given the opportunity to do so.

As for the Website I am not sure what website was searched but I have never put my pricing list on the website because competitors can use that to beat my prices. Home Advisors has lots of reviews about my business on their website and none which are bad, they are all great reviews, so if there were a bad review I am sure they would post that as well. But that is something that needs to be taken up with them.

I don't often check our website for reviews because no one ever leaves anything on there but the client and I spoke by phone every time that we talked so I would assume that if there were a problem that is how I would be contacted. I began to make phone calls when I realized the check was cancelled because I had no idea there was a problem. When I called I explained that I was not sure what the problem was but I would appreciate it if the client could give me a call. After several calls my husband did let her know that we would be taking legal action.

We cleaned upstairs for 2 hours before coming downstairs and when we finished the client went upstairs while we cleaned the downstairs. Almost every complaint is with the upstairs which was in beautiful shape. When I asked if there was anything else that needed to be fixed the client said everything looks great. 4 hours was ample enough time to check over a cleaning job before writing a check of that amount and there was no indication that the client was leaving to go anywhere or in any rush for us to leave. We stood around laughing and talking for maybe 20 minutes before we left while the client showed us pets in the garage. I personally mopped the laundry room and wiped the window sill and washed the inside of the front loading washer as well as the door. I also wiped the outside of the dryer. There were clothes hanging in the laundry room and we do not touch or move items around to clean.

Again I do apologize about the dissatisfaction but we came to the home and cleaned to the best of our ability and thought we left with a more than satisfied customer. There were quite a few things that were complained about but there was a lot more work done to the home that was not commented about. Our 4 hours of work deserves compensation and not a cancelled check. An opportunity to have been showed the problem and a chance to fix it would have been nice, not 4 hours of free labor.

Thank you

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I did send my dissatisfaction by email to two different locations via their website the evening of the cleaning. This would have been the opportunity for the cleaning service to have responded and offered to come back and make the situation right. The house was not in good shape when they left but when I realized that they hadn't even vacuumed under the small throw rugs at the garage door (the dirtiest part of our home), I knew that the situation couldn't be resolved in the 10 minutes that I had before I needed to leave. Yes, we did chit chat at the end but I was not aware of all of the issues until I looked over the house upon returning from our family meal, and b/c we chit chatted, I was late for our meal.

I do not intend to pay over $300 for this house cleaning when it is not only out of reason for a job well done but insane for a job poorly done. The only reason why the poor reviews do not show up on Home Advisor is b/c of their strict rules which rejected my review and any other dissatisfied customers' review. So, I will not use Home Advisor again b/c it is not a true look at business' work - although, they do show a range of cleaning prices for my home's square footage and it is closer to $150, further proof that I was charged an outrageous fee.
