Ms. Ann T[redacted] originally presented to our clinic on 05/01/13 for a full mouth extractions and upper and lower complete dentures. She purchased an ultra new denture wearer package ($1545.00) to include a set of temporary dentures and a set of final permanent dentures (to be completed within 18...

months from date of extractions). Ms. T[redacted] signed the new denture wearer package agreement which is included with this letter for your review. On her initial visit she received her upper and lower temporary dentures and advised to return for necessary adjustments. Ms. T[redacted] returned a total of four times for relines and adjustments as part of her package. On 05/19/14 Ms. T[redacted] presented for her permanent final ultra upper/lower complete dentures, Impressions and bite registration was taken. While an ultra denture usually takes about one week to complete, Patient returned on 06/05/14 for her try-in appointment and approved the shade and appearance of her new upper and lower dentures and she was informed her dentures will be ready for pick up in two days. Patient did not return to our clinic until a month later on 07/07/14 for her delivery appointment and she received her dentures and indicated she is not happy with the appearance and fit but she will keep the dentures for wedding pictures the following Saturday. She returned the dentures on 07/16/14 and indicated she will be moving to New Jersey. Her case was then transferred to New Jersey Affordable Dentures for completion. Patient never went there.
On 01/09/15 patient indicated she moved back to this area and wanted to return here to complete her package. She is informed since her package has expired on 11/14, she must pay the difference between the old fee ($1545.00) and the new fee ($1905,00) which is $360.00. Patient refused and indicated she will be contacting her attorney.
According to my records and recollections, we followed standard clinic protocol with regard to MS. T[redacted]'s treatment. The purpose of the new denture wearer package is patient to return in a timely manner and complete treatment. I feel Ms. T[redacted] had an ample time to complete her treatment within 18 months. Fees cannot be kept constant indefinitely as material and labor cost keep increasing. Patient may complete treatment for $360.00 as patient requires complete oral evaluations to receive her dentures.
Sincerely,
Mesfin W. Z[redacted]

is done, the denture may break and eventually the denture broke twice and repaired. On her current visit on 11/13/14 she requested a full lower denture and admitted she had her remaining lower teeth extracted two months earlier. I took an impression of her gum and fabricated a well-fitting full lower denture with reasonable border extensions for proper function and appearance. Patient requested further reduction of the denture due to perceived bulkiness. I advised the patient the denture cannot be reduced without compromising stability and function and recommended to try the denture as is. Patient got angry and indicated she does not want the denture that was custom made for her and all of her money that she paid for the denture was refunded. Based on years of experience of doing dentures, no denture will feel comfortable initially there is always an adjustment period and I've explained this to the patient several times. I am rejecting this response because: This business out of a good character/id making a false comment about my initial visit in 2011 followed by 7 times for fixes and adjustments. That information is full of a fault. Because ALL I DID WAS JUST GET THE SAME DAY DENTURE WHICH IS THEIR PROCESS OF MAKING DENTURES AND CAME BACK FOR 1 MORE DAY TO GET SOME FIX. SO I DON'T SEE WHERE THE 7 VISIT CAME FROM.My 2nd visit 2014/November WAS ALSO SAME DAY DENTURE MAKING PROCESS AND WAS A VERY UNGRATEFUL ONE, THE CONTACT PERSON SAYS THEY MADE CUSTOM FIT BUT WHAT THEY PUT IN YOUR MOUTH IS NOTHING TO DO WITH CUSTOM MADE; AFTER HE GOT THE IMPRESSION OUT OF MY MOUTH, THE PIECE SHOULD FIT PERFECTLY. UNFORTUNATELY THE PIECE THEY FORCED INTO MY MOUTH YES INITIALLY FORCED INTO MY MOUTH WAS TOO BIG AND WAY TOO EDGY( BOTTOM WHERE THE GUM LINE CASE ); TOO BULKY. THEREFORE I MENTIONED ABOUT THIS IS NOT RIGHT IT DOESN'T FEEL ALRIGHT- THE DENTIST HIMSELF GOT RUDE AND SAID IT CAN'T BE DONE ANY OTHER WAY. SO AT THAT POINT WHAT HE DOES IS FACTORY MADE NOT A CUSTOM MADE AT MY OWN COST. ALL HE CARES IS COLLECTING DOLLAR BILLS BUT NOT A DIME OF A CLIENT/PATIENT SATISFACTION. I AM HIGHLY DISTURBED OF HIS ATTITUDE, NOT A BUSINESS ATTRIBUTION LIKE AT ALL.  Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  At the time I was living in Virginia I was
there because of military orders and my mother had accompanied me to Virginia
as I was a single mother raising two children. We were initially told that the
dentures would be ready within one year (the standard time according to the
video that they play on a loop in their office), which would have resulted in a
complete set of dentures in May of 2014.
At each appointment my mother complained about how the dentures fit
poorly and how she was unable to chew solid food.  At each visti she was told that she had get used
to use to wearing dentures.  They seem to
be operating on an assembly line process spending only minimal time with each
patient.  My mother was still pulling tooth
fragments out of her mouth for a minimum of three months after her extraction
were completed.  We believe that it is reasonable
to expect properly fitting dentures within one year.  It took an inordinate amount of time for the
dentures to be completed due to poor workmanship and lack of responsiveness to
patient requests as would be reasonably be expected by a professional.  I have attempted to contact the dentist
directly on numerous occasions and he has never returned my call despite my
request that he call to discuss this matter.
This dentist keeps extremely poor records.  I know my mother was seen more than 4 times
as each time she was seen either my husband or I had to take off from work to
transport her to the appointments.  My
wedding took place on July 5th in Manassas and my mother left
Virginia with my sister on the 7th of July.  My mother relocated to live with my sister in
New Jersey and has never returned to Virginia as is claimed by the dentist.  In addition she has neither contacted them
nor have they contacted her since she left Virginia on the 7th of July.  The location that they transferred my
mother's records to was in excess of 2 hours away from my sister's home which
would result in 4 hours of driving for each appointment necessary to correct
their shoddy workmanship.  As you can see
this dentist does not keep proper records not nor does he provide the level of
service one would expect from a professional.
The attached bill shows that I paid $3980.00 for the procedure.  The dentures were returned to the dentist and therefore I should be provided with a refund.  I now need to find a new dentist that can
complete the work and allow my mother the dignity of chewing her food with her
dentures in place.  The embarrassment that
my mother a 60 year old woman with limited income faces due to this level of
ineptitude is unacceptable.  The dentist
is correct my next course of action will be contacting an attorney to pursue civil
litigation as well file a complaint with the Virginia Department of Health
Professions.

Ann G[redacted]

Patient Has been a patient over a year and we understand she is not pleased with her recent repair. It's our policy at affordable dentures to make sure patients are satisfied with the product and services they receive. Since the patient is not pleased with her partial after a couple of repair, we...

will be glad to replace her partial with a new one at no charge. Patient may call and set up an appointment for a new partial.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me only if the new partial  that they propose to make is same as the first one they made as in the use of the same materials; same coloring of the teeth and gum; that I am treated with respect; and that there will not be any animosity held against me in my person and in receiving the new partial in a timely manner.  I am also requesting that the partial fits, without any lining being used, any gaps, or guards showing.  If Afforable Denture is able to meet this request, I will accept their offer.  Thank you.

Review: I am a senior citizen with some dental needs. I became a customer with Affordable Dentures around 2010 to get a denture. During that time I was purchased a denture. Seemed like not perfect but yet quick solution to my need. And recently, 11/13/2014 @8:30am, had an appointment there to get a lower denture due to loosing all my teeth in the area. Was told to come in 8:30 and I got called in dentist work area around 10:00 am, Dr.Mesfin *. Z[redacted]'s assistant Britney took the measure in my mouth. Told me to leave and come back at 2:00pm. I came back timely and started waiting on the next process; after waiting a long time and asking couple of times if I was going to get my second part of denture process timely front desk clerk mentioned about a room availability being a problem. I mentioned about myself being asthmatic and nebulizer treatment time concern; then they got me in around 3:00 pm. After waiting 15 to 20 minutes inside one of the assistants brought my temp denture to try on. At first try, I have realized it was too big for my mouth size. Therefore she got my denture to trim some. Didn't work. Asked if the dentist would come see the case. Dentist's assistant Britney came and asked "What is up?" And my daughter explain my concern to her; Britney had an attitude saying that all dentures will do whatever was experienced without listening the sincere concern. My very concern was this unfitting mouth piece changed my mouth structure right away as soon as was put in my mouth. I have used dentures for a long time this is not my first time. So she left the area talking loud to dentist saying that I am not satisfy for their work and dentist came with a very bad attitude saying that he wont do more trim to fit my mouth because that is the best way he can do and if I am not happy I should leave and get my money refunded without no further consideration. This time, hours I spent at this place the treatment by this Dentist Z[redacted] and his assistant was horrifying in the name of a patient/client service qualities and consideration for what patient's needs. So I am very disappointed in their id and I take a responsibility to report his business to you. And When I was leaving the place I was told by front desk that I am not suppose to come back to their place. Wasn't an option for me at the first place anyhow after all this intake.Desired Settlement: They didn't finish the job naturally and If Revdex.com's role would effect their unprofessional outcome. My desire would be them to finish what they started and do it exactly what I need not what they want or think what is working for me or not. VERY RUDE AND UNREALISTIC APPROACH. The products come from a factory even have chances for consumers to pick the right size right color right everything. How come this denture place would take my measurements still so incorrect and they already said that dentist called individual won't fix the right way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Response:

December 9, 2014Dear [redacted],The patient initially presented in 2011 for a partial upper and lower dentures. According to our records the patient returned to our office seven times complaining of bulkiness and each time adjustment was made, patient reminded if any further reduction is done, the denture may break and eventually the denture broke twice and repaired. Since patient is not willing to take the Doctor's recommendations with regards to her prosthesis, she must find another general dentist or prosthodontist willing to work with her.Mesfin Z DDS
