Review: In November 2012 we purchased carpet for living and dining rooms, stairway and hall plus vinyl for entryway. It was installed December 6. After the installers left we noticed the seam between the living and dining room was very obvious on one end and the vinyl was loose and uneven. We called the store several times to complain but [redacted], the owner didn't keep any of the appointments. When he finally came to inspect it, he agreed it should be fixed, but he didn't have any tools with him so he made another appointment which he didn't keep either . Several other appointments were made and not kept and they did not return phone calls. Eventually we drove to the store where he again made another appointment which was not kept. At no time did he call to cancel before hand or apologize afterward for standing us up.Desired Settlement: Make and keep an appointment to fix the seam between the rooms and fix the vinyl.

Review: Affordable Floors installed a stranded woven cherry sangria bamboo floor in our family room In June of 2013 in approx. Sept 2013 the floor buckled, two boards popped up about two inches. I called the company and they sent a crew to repair the problem. A few months later two boards adjacent to the ones that popped before, buckled. I called the company and they responded to this with a complaint to the flooring manufacture, [redacted]. [redacted] responded that it was not a manufacturing defect but it could be caused by moisture, or an installation problem.

I called the company (Affordable Floors) back and asked if they would give me the moisture readings that were required to be taken prior to installation as per the manufactures installation instructions and the National Wood Floor Assoc. recommendations. The response from the company was you have a moisture problem, use a dehumidifier. I have spoken to quite a few certified flooring inspectors and they said that when installing a wood floor on a slab (concrete), in a glue down installation, a moisture barrier adhesive should always be used. I was not informed if that was done, and if it was then I should not have this problem. Also. in researching this problem, the National Wood Flooring Assoc. states that the flooring should be acclimated to the job site (my home) for a minumin of 72 hours, this was not done either, the installers brought it on their trunk and installed it.Desired Settlement: Determine why the floor was not properly installed on a slab floor, ie: moisture barrier, correct humidity readings etc, and repair or replacement of the floor.

Response:

The conditions of the area the wood was installed does not support the required humidity and temperature conditions for the bamboo flooring. We did repair the floor when it first began to cup, and notified the homeowner that he needed to regulate the temperature in the home to prevent further issues. We understand his concern, and we do back our installations, but we cannot provide continuous repair services for homeowner negligence in regards to the humidity and temperature of the home.

If the homeowner had regulated the temperature and moisture levels, we would repair the issues he is having with the wood. Since he is not, we cannot provide continuous repair services.

If you need any other information from us to address this complaint, please contact me.

Thank you.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: I had placed a dehumidifier in the room where the floor was installed and it withdrew NO water from the area. The dehumidifier was set to run continually and did not accumulate any moisture at all (it ran for two weeks). If there was a moisture problem the installers should have found that out prior to installation as per the flooring manufactures installation instructions to measure moisture on the slab prior to installation and if found to have used a moisture barrier adheasive when installing the floor. That would have solved the problem if there was any moisture, which there is not. I would like affordable floors to correct the problem by either reinstalling the floor with moisture barrier adheasive or compensating me to have another installer correct the faulty installation. If the proper tests where done and the floor was installed correctly there would be no buckling.

Regards,

Review: Made an agreement with Mr. [redacted] to install carpeting and laminate flooring. Carpet was completed in an amatuer fashion. He never came back to finish the laminate floor. I made numerous attempts to contact him. Left messages for him to contact me and he never did. When he did answer the phone he said he would call me right back and never did.

I will be taking him to small claims court.Desired Settlement: I would like for him to come back and finish the job or give us a refund in the amount to repair poorly installed carpet and for the laminate labor installation.
