Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/03/02) */
In response to Mr ***'s complaint:
On 02/12/when Mr*** came into Smith Ford for repair on his Ford CroWn Vie, the airbag light was on and the horn was inoperativeWhile the technician was looking up the diagrams in the shop
manual, the horn to Mr ***'s vehicle sounded off by itselfThe technician had only pulled the vehicle into his bay and had not diagnosed anything at that time
The technician pulled the pad inside the car behind the airbag on the steering wheel to
get the horn to stopAfter pinpointing, the technician found an open ground in the front passenger side bumper where the airbag sensor and bracket are locatedThe technician
repaired the open ground, and at that time the air bag light was offWhen the technician was diagnosing the horn concern, he found the spring that allows the horn to make
contact when being used was weak, Since the spring was weak, the horn is very sensitive and will sound off on its own, as we duplicatedThe horn could sound off even when driving over bumps on the road
At this time, we advised Mr Harnmat to properly fix his concerns, he would need to replace the airbag moduleMr *** did not want to put that kind of money in the vehicle at the timeThe cost of the part was *** plus labor of ***
We did contact Mr Hamm.ar and offer him a 10% discount

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/03/03) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The response from Smith Ford explains how the airbag was damaged: "The technician pulled the pad inside the car behind the airbag on the steering wheel to get the horn to stop" (blowing)Later, the technician "found the spring that allows the horn to make contact was weak," making the horn "very sensitive." Before bringing my vehicle to Smith Ford for repair on 2/12/2016, the horn was not sensitive and operated normally, until such time as it would no longer sound(That occurred on 2/9/2016.) I would like to have my Ford vehicle fixed properlyThat is why I brought it to the experts at this Ford dealershipI realize accidental damage can sometimes happen when repairs are madeWhen it does, I expect the person/business to step up and effect whatever repairs are necessary (at no charge)As the customer, I did nothing wrongWhy should I be asked to come up with *** to replace the damaged airbag and make my horn work properly?
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2016/03/16) */
In response to Mr ***'s rebuttal:
As is on our first response, Smith Ford of Lowell Inc did not damage the air bag on Mr ***'s Ford Crown VicWhen Mr Hammond brought his vehicle in, it was for an air bag light on and the inoperative horn
For consumer goodwill, we will do a 20% discount
Sorry for the delay to the response, I was out of town last week

Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 12, 2016/03/17) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
In response to Mr*** recent rebuttal, I would like to note that the original problems (airbag warning light stays on and horn will not sound) were solved when the technician reestablished the ground on these circuits
My Crown Vic was delivered to me, post-repair, with a problem I did not have when I brought it innamely a VERY SENSITIVE hornWithout temporary countermeasures I have employed, the horn would be sounding at the slightest touch, when driving over rough pavement, or when making an emergency stop, etc
The cause of this new problem (according to Smith Ford) is a weak spring (a.k.athe clock spring?) that supports the horn/airbag cover in the center of the steering wheelSince replacement of the airbag is presented as the solution to the Sensitive Horn Problem, I assume the spring is attached in some manner to the airbagThe cost of the airbag replacement (per Smith Ford) is *** less 20% (per MrDeYoung's recent offer)I believe Smith Ford should cover the entire cost, since it was their technician who caused the damage when he pulled off the cover to stop the horn from blowing (as described in MrDe Young's earlier rebuttal)There was no Sensitive Horn Problem until the technician worked on the car
I do not accept Mr*** offer
