I called AFFORDABLE PLUMBLING for a stopped up washer drain and a leak underneath my sink, and ask him about how much would the repair cost be, he said around $185, I said ok, and he said make sure its what I need to be repaired and I yes that's it. they came out and spent about 30 to 40 minutes and went outside stayed about 15 minutes and said he was adding my bill up, and told me that it was $351. I was so upset, we argue about the fact that I was told by the owner it would be $185, I am on social security and for him to scam me and then tell me I was dishonest, was very upsetting, I know they was price gauging me but I don't have that kind of money, he snaked the drain of the washer for about 15 minute and removed a water softener, and charged me $47 for small pipe about 6-8 inches long and he knew he was wrong but I am old and I am black, so I am reaching out to you all for help if not for me at to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else that is a senior citizen. thank you

Revdex.com COMMENT BY Phone:

I quoted her 150- 2000 for a drain clean. When we got there she said "while you are here" and brought up a water filter issue. By the time you add and return everything its an extra hour worth of work and billable time.

I called due to a water leak, that I incorrectly guessed was from my water heater. A team showed up and promptly began preparations for replacing a water heater, without even quoting price of service first. The got as far as shutting off the tank before one of them realized that there was no leak from the water heater. They then surmised a leak was coming from the wall or floor behind the heater. They left telling me the would need to get a third person out with equipment to detect the leak, and that likely they would have to go through the floor or wall to get to the leak. After they left, they called stating they would do a different repair instead for $2500; they still had not had someone out to confirm that there was a leak that needed to be repaired or bypassed. At this point, I called another company. They came out and snaked a backed up drain; the repair was $300. I am now stuck with an $80 service call from Affordable Plumbing. I called and talked with ***, trying to express my disappointment; he refused to acknowledge, and told me he wanted me to pay the invoice when it came in. I called back in today, hoping to speak with someone else. The message was forwarded to *** again, who demanded the money that I had "agreed" to pay, and that he would forward it to collections if I didn't. This company is a scam. They overcharge for services, recommend unnecessary services, and if you tell them "no thank you" because it is clear they are not on the up-and-up, you're still stuck with an outrageous fee for service call, and there is no negotiation due to poor service.

I have all of the messages from our third-party answering service. The first one was her initial call. The second was to pay her service call, which I urged her not to do because we intended to write it off and not pursue it at all. I did tell her she would receive an invoice, which she was free to do whatever she wanted by either paying or trashing it. We really didn’t care which she did. The third was her being hateful to our receptionists demanding to speak to anyone but me. The fourth was her saying she intended to post negative reviews on Yelp and the Revdex.com if she didn’t get her way because she was mad at me for not tolerating her bad behavior. That was definitely the straw that broke the camels back. Instead of trashing the automatically generated invoice and us parting ways, *** just had to keep pushing the issue until we responded in kind. That’s what she wanted and what she got so she could run all over the Internet looking for sympathy because another man did her wrong. Here’s the only resolution we will propose or accept. Option one is she stops her harassing and threatening behavior towards us by resetting her attitude. She takes all the trash she littered across the Internet down. Once she does those two things, we will reset our response and then we can both go our merry way like we both wanted before she pushed us one inch too far. If she chooses not to one of those two steps, there will be no resolution and our response will stand. It’s really not difficult. We want nothing to do with her and she can resolve the entire matter simply by going away and leaving us alone instead of creating all of this drama just so everyone will pay her attention.

I am rejecting this response because:

I stand by my statement about the initial response from the company. Also, *** is misrepresenting the facts. I was never left with the impression that I was allowed to forfeit payment of the service call fee, without penalty. I still have the voicemail response from the second time I called to discuss the issue. *** states he "urged me not to pay." In actuality, he left a message asserting that I had "agreed to pay," that the matter was "settled," and that the invoice "still stands." He stated that if I did not pay, he would "post it to credit." I did not understand what he meant by that as I am not familiar with his personal accounting terminology. However, in context of what statements preceded that, it sounded as if he was determined to collect payment, if possibly by selling to collections. As to the other issues, the workers were incorrect in their assessment of work that needed to be done, and they did propose a costly repair, without appropriate inspection to ensure this was needed. I am not sure you would find an honest provider who would agree with this questionable practice. There is no reason the public should not be made aware of the incident, and be able to form their own perspective. I stand by my representation of what happened. Based on ***'s response to you, he appears to suggest that he will accept a dismissal of the invoice. I will accept a response from him that plainly states that the invoice is null and void, and he will not further pursue collection of the fee. I will gladly cease all communication or interaction with the business after this is done.

Sincerely

I hired Affordable Plumbing to fix a leak in my office bathroom's sink and replace the faucets in my bathroom and kitchen sink. I also had a toilet that shifted and a clogged bathtub. My appointment was for 1:00 pm on 03/26/18. They did not show up until almost 4:00 pm. They removed everything from the faucet to under sink in office just to find out the faucet I purchased was too big. They said the faucet would fit the master bathroom so I allowed them to replace that one instead of returning my new faucet. When they tried to put the new faucet on, they said the pipe was bad and a full replacement will need to be done. I hear a massive bang, bang, bang. They were punching a hole in the wall under the sink! I asked why did they not ask first and they said they had no other way to get to the pipe. I told them the other side of the wall had an already made crawl space to easily access the pipes. They said that it wouldn't work before even looking at it. By this time, it was after 7:00 pm so they had no choice but to leave with me having no water flowing in the house. The two faucets were completely taken apart and they said they cannot put caps on the open pipes because their warehouse is closed due to the time. My family had to use bottled water to wash up and brush our teeth until the next afternoon! I was told no charge to show up and at least get caps on one of the bathrooms and a faucet in the other so I could have water. They showed up late again, and then when rescheduled they had to cancel and told me next opening was in 5 days! They came back on 04/03/18 an hour and a half late and put in the other faucet, cleaned clog, and tightened the toilet. They then quoted me $1,846.50! I asked why when I was told $159/hr plus parts. They said that is PER man and they brought two. Nowhere on there website nor invoice says this information. They even show proof of marking OVER the copy of bill! I still have the massive hole and mess plus time manipulation.

As is her pattern, she continues to manipulate the facts of this matter so that they better fit her position. Attached is an address to each one of her points to present a more complete and correct narrative of the events. She can do exactly what she threatened and use any of our competitors that she chooses. She is neither entitled to nor shall she receive a refund simply because she is unhappy that she received a correct bill.

I am rejecting this response because: The business is providing inaccurate information based on previous phone conversations and work that he did not do nor was there to verify if true. Every response was lead through a false "he said, she said" defense that contorts the facts to appear more in his favor. His receptionist said $139/hr but did not state any more than that. His website does not even state $139/hr nor does it state that payment is based on per man. The receipt I signed also does not state this information as their policy, nor any payment policy other than a late payment or bounced a check. Nowhere in his paperwork, website, or calls have been accurately provided if provided at all. I do not even have a "bathroom hall" as he described. He was not there at all during the work so I am not sure where he is getting any information as fact since it is not through personal experience. He also fails to say that the five-minute phone call was due to the fact he hung up on me. Although he did not deny making his distasteful comments, he did not address the fact that his workers busted a hole under my sink without prior authorization nor any inquiry due to I have an access panel just one room over they could have used. His website says they clean up there work, however, they asked to use my personal towels to clean themselves up. I also have pictures of the mess they left under my sink including chunks of drywall and mysterious goop they used for repairs. He also is incorrectly addressing the write over on receipt, which is not surprising since he did not write it nor even see the receipt that was handed to me. The worker wrote out a bill where there was a copy that automatically went on behind the bill. After he tore the original bill, he then wrote over the copied version which shows he manipulated numbers that will not be on the original bill. I have the original copy of the receipt showing he did this as well as multiple copies. I tried to call to resolve the issue, but he kept interrupting me and then when I said that people normally ask before busted a wall in someone's house he responded "well people normally take care of their pipes and do not let them rot" which was highly unprofessional fully knowing that my house is older and not a form of neglect. He failed to mention this in his response. He also failed to mention that I had used his company to install my dishwasher, work under my house pipes, and help in getting my washer hooked up in my laundry room over the years. I have invested thousands of dollars with the company without a single complaint or concern. I can provide receipts and check numbers backing my claims on this matter. To give the appearance that I look to complain about everyone helping me update my home is very misleading in an attempt to justify the poor job and lack of professionalism this company is currently upholding. Since this company does not have any physical paperwork or information, they are relying solely on false information and insinuating circumstances to push the response in their favor. I am a strong believer that nice people do not need to say they are nice and smart people do not have to say they are smart. However, I believe my kindness is being taken advantage of and when addressing concerns my responses were nothing more than accusations, "he says, she says", and personal insults to hurt my feelings and make me feel bad about my current house conditions. I have never even been to any kind of court so the inclination that I am looking to sue is a false accusation. I chose to use the Revdex.com for a reason. I wanted a civil resolution, however being hung up on made me go through the Revdex.com in hopes the company will work with me. I do not approve of false conversations in substitution for defense. Although I do not have recordings of our conversations to provide the false accusations, I can show printouts of the website policies (or lack of) in regards to billing and company policies. I can also show guarantees of work and clean up (which were not done) quoted directly on their website as proof of my plea of mistreatment. I approve of a physical trail of information more than a false written response of conversations that never occur. I can also send a copy of all this information and pictures in this email if needed. I am trying very hard not to feel hurt, but I also feel that I was treated this way due to I am a woman trying to get repairs done on her house while her husband is in Iraq. I try not to bring in personal feelings and feel a paper trail is more valid, however, I hope it does not seem out of character for me to feel manipulated while my husband is away since I have used this company so many times in the past. I do not accept the response made by the business to resolve this complaint.
Sincerely

I am sending the pictures showing the hole they created instead of using my access section. I have pictures of that too to provide, however this email is having trouble loading the images and the connection times out. I can provide those in another email. I also added pictures where my copy of the receipt was written over after I had given my signature and check. They got my signature, wrote down my check number on original copy, but before giving me the yellow copy they changed the information to say 2 man instead of 1 man and made the hours unclear due to writing on top of what was previously written on original invoice. Since I only was able to do two attachments, I was unable to add that their website does not state anything on their charge policy and that they say they clean up after themselves (which obviously not since left all dry wall on the ground). They also did a poor job based on the blue goop that seems to be dripping down and barely covering the pipes. I can send any additional pictures you may need or close ups for anything unclear.
