[redacted] purchased a 2004 Dodge Caravan on 2/25/2017 for a total of $3,324.95 with $2,000.00 down.  She agreed to make payments every two weeks in the amount of $115.00.. On the third payment, [redacted] started to fall behind in her payments.   In July, [redacted]...

needed a water pump and we agreed to install one.  When she came to pick up the vehicle, she claimed that she could not afford the repair.  We agreed to add the $250.00 bill to her account.  No payments were made from that time until August.  At that time. she complained that she had small children and no money, so we felt sorry for her. Due to the fact that [redacted] account became so labor intensive and the fact that she seemed to be struggling so much, rather than send Notice to Cure, we elected to write off the debt and give her clear title to the vehicle.  She informed us that she would come in the office to pick up the title.  After several weeks she did not come in to get the title, so it was mailed to the address on record.               On or about 10/16/2117, [redacted] brought her car in for repair and complained that the brakes were shaking and making noise, that the car idled fast, and there was a squeak in the engine.              Diagnostics revealed, 2 warped rotors, worn brake pads, worn serpentine belt, and someone had attempted repair of a vacuum hose that was leaking and causing the engine to surge.             We called [redacted] and explained the van needed rotors, brake pads, and a vacuum line that needed to be ordered.  We advised her that we had made a temporary repair – at no charge – to the vacuum line until the part arrived.  Additionally, we advised her that the cost of repairs would be 345.00.  [redacted] told us to go ahead and fix the car.             After the repairs were completed – except for the vacuum hose on order – we called her numerous times over the next two days requesting payment.  We left messages but did not get any response.  Finally, we left a message that if the van was not picked up soon, there would be additional storage fees.   On or about 10/23/17, [redacted] called to ask how they could arrange payments.  We informed him we take cash, credit cards, or check.  He told us they did not have the money to pay the bill.  We explained that his wife had authorized the repairs and the amount, and that no prior request for payments had been made and that subsequently, we needed to be paid.             Over the next day or so, we continued to attempt calling to get the [redacted]’ to pick up their car and pay the bill.  Eventually, we advised her that after 10 days there would be a storage fee added to the car.  At that time [redacted] started making threats and complaints that she never authorized the repair.  When we realized [redacted] had no intention of paying, we advised her to come pick up the vehicle and never set foot in our shop again.  The husband came for the car, and apologized for his wife’s behavior. He admitted that he had been present when she approved the repairs over the phone, but thought she had made arrangements for payments.  We told him that no payments had been discussed.  We gave him the keys and told him to get his van, leave the lot, and never come back.             As to [redacted]’s other claims, they are totally fabricated. The vehicle was test driven after the repairs were completed and everything repaired worked properly.  The allegations that we somehow did something to the wiring in her car is ridiculous. Affordable Preowned Auto has forgiven in total, over $2,000.00 in vehicle payments and repair cost.  As far as we are concerned, any and all business between Affordable Preowned Auto and the [redacted] is finished.
