Affordable Roofing Siding & Gutters Reviews (7)

I apologize if there is some confusion with regard to the customer's flat roof and gutters, but we have followed up with the customer In fact we went back out there (3)three times to correct the problem The flat roof is not leaking We have triple checked the entire roof and
chimney All areas are water tight, what is happening is that the customer's shingle roof, which is on the slope above the chimney has nail pops all over which is allowing the water to penetrate the shingles then it runs down toward the chimney and runs down from there With regard to the gutters, they are not leaking either The customer's shingle roof system does not have drip edge installed and shingles are cut back too much, so the water is running off of the shingles and going behind the gutter system We would be happy go out again to meet with the customer to show him said areas We have discussed these issues with him prior, but he doesn't want to change the shingles on the back slope Please let us know what he would like us to do (i.eprovide an estimate to repair said areas of concern, etc.)We have fulfilled our contract and have come out (3)three additional times We have replaced chimney flashings which was not in the original contract, but we did it to hopefully solve the issue We also recommend that the customer have someone come out to Thompson Water seal bricks and mortar on chimney.Thank you,*** ***###-###-####

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 10222571, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Regards,

 Dear Ms. [redacted],
The response to my complaint from Affordable Roofing Siding & Gutters Inc. states, "the extra work that was done at the request of the customer was new fascia to be installed on the rear of the house, which added more material and labor charges not included in the original contract."There were no admission of materials or additional repair issues, if you refer to the contract, listed on line (3) it clearly states " Install new capping under beam on porch and two new fascia boards, "Included."
Mr. [redacted] is apologizing for producing "incorrect information" for a third time, offering a different explanation of additional charges for $673.02 beyond the original $1200.00 agreed upon. In addition, my contract does not address my being responsible for workman's compensation, general liability, gas, or per trip charges.
I have always been respectful and courteous with my questions and responses. I feel like my concerns have not been addressed tactfully, but with anger and resentment since repeatedly being asked for payment in full of $1200.00 before my contract was fulfilled by ARS&G Inc. Something I was not comfortable with.  Mr. [redacted] is now threating me with a lien on behalf of his suppliers, along with legal action for work not performed by ARS&G Inc.. The tone of this letter seems to "joust" my credibility and intelligence. I feel there has been a definite breakdown of communication and a lack of professionalism ,tact, and respect. I understand that this job is not a high dollar repair, however, it still needs to be handled with the same degree of professionalism.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

[redacted]
Dear
Ms[redacted],
Our
response to Mrs[redacted]' complaint is as follows:
While
removing the existing siding to start the project we unexpectedly discovered
wood rot and (live) termite damage/issues, (customer asked my laborer to take
pictures of damages using her phone). We
stopped work, contacted the customer to alert her of the found issues, we advised
her that an experienced person in carpentry and termites should come out to
inspect and repair area. Customer had a
termite inspector come out and treat area her experienced carpenter had replaced. While this work was being done, we were
unable to perform any work, which pushed our schedule back
I
apologize the incorrect information, we did not wrap columns, the extra work
that was done at the request of the customer was new fascia to be installed on
the rear of the house, which added more material and labor charges not included
in the original contract. Customer
admits materials needed and her contractors damaging the already installed
j-channel and his lack of knowledge on how to properly install window wrapping
or Tyvex. We had to pull laborers off
other projects and repair issues that came up from her personal "experienced"
laborers. Not only does she not want to
pay for labor, but workman's compensation, general liability, and taxes are
included in our addendum. We cannot
purchase, install, insure, and warranty work when customers only want to pay
for materials. I am not paying off any
materials purchased for this project until customer provides us with payment,
so that supply houses can lien property for payment as well. We have done everything we can to satisfy our
customer with no success
As
of today, Monday, September 29, 2014, we've had customers this year that
appreciate our attention to detail and our work with no complaints. I have $in gas receipts alone for this
project. We are requesting that the
customer pay for services rendered in the amount of $immediately to
avoid any future legal action
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Review: In March 2014 requested a received a quote for gutter and roof repair related to leaking. I advised the company rep, [redacted] that I had some leaks that needed fixing in my gutters, in one corner and also in front of front door. The second source of leaking was my back patio, in a couple spots. [redacted] was helpful and advised me that the patio was leaking from improper flashing where they chimney meets the roof/patio and that the gutters were leaking because they were old and needed replacing. [redacted] advised that after having these necessary repairs done, I would have no more issues with leaks. The company, Affordable Roofing Siding & Gutters performed the services in late March 2014. Since that time, my patio still leaks in the same spots, despite their efforts to fix. Also, my gutters leak in the exact same spots before the company replaced them. The company is exceedingly difficult to deal with in any form or fashion. Messages are rarely, if ever returned. At one point during the past year, we left several messages per week, for one month, before ever receiving a return call.Jim Simon was extremely helpful during the quote and initial repair process but has since been a ghost. After the repair I managed to have a conversation with him about the still leaking gutters. [redacted] said it was a roof problem! I said, "aren't you also a roofing company? That's why I hired you, to fix all the issues and at no time during the quote process did I say I wanted new gutters. I said I wanted the leaks fixed. If it was a roof issue with a fix requiring longer overhang from the shingles to the gutters, that would have been much cheaper to fix and wouldn't have necessitated the purchase/installation of new gutters." At that point he said he would instruct the the gutter subcontractor to fix the issue. This promised fix has yet to occur. The above example is especially telling, revealing an extremely lax estimating process.Desired Settlement: Id like the company to repair the lingering issues relating to the gutters and patio, resulting in the two areas no longer leaking. Currently Ive paid $2,500 for no fixes. The oversights and misdiagnoses directly resulted in unnecessary work being performed at my expense. The situation can be resolved by the company taking ownership of the issue, repairing the issue at their own cost, and extending the warranty.

Please let us know what he would like us to do (i.e. provide an estimate to repair said areas of concern, etc.)

Affordable is a very professional company with impressive roofing crews . The amount of business juggled by them and maintaining a very professional and positive relationship with customers. They always do a great job .

Review: To whom it may concern,I am writing with the hope of resolving a billing issue with ARS&G Inc. Affordable Roofing Siding & Gutters Inc. [redacted] Mandeville, La. 7047###-###-####On 7/15/14 I was presented an estimate for repairs and replacement of siding to be done to my home in the amount of $1200.00 in the form of an email from ARS&G Inc. I sent an email on 7/17/14 stating I accepted the bid of $1200.00 and had spoken to [redacted] the contractor who submitted the estimate and work was scheduled to start as of 7/24/14. On 7/25/14 [redacted] informed me of water damage discovered around (2) triple windows on the 1st floor while replacing siding. I was then sent an estimate for repairs needing to be done before siding could be finished. However, I decided to hire my own contractors for the repairs. I was told by [redacted] that once the repairs were completed he would return the following day which fell on the following Wednesday 30th, in which he did not. [redacted] then text me on the 31st and saying "would like to come on Sunday, if not Tuesday or Wednesday" and then "if rain was an issue he would be there on Monday 4th ?" Confused, Sunday I tried to call [redacted], no answer. I text him to ask him if he would make sure tyvec wrap and tape that my contractors applied to the (2) repaired windows were properly done because of bad weather conditions, as to not compromise repairs that had been made. After not getting a response, I then informed him via text "my carpenters would be coming back out to make sure everything was okay before siding goes up and they would be finished by 10:00 Monday morning." [redacted] did not respond until Monday morning via text saying, "make sure house is wrapped and use tape left under patio for framers if needed." The lack of communication has been difficult.[redacted] was informed before starting this job of my tenant's night work schedule and would need work to be completed in a timely manner. Agreed, the water damage was an unforeseen inconvenience to all parties...I received an email on 8/14/14 with an invoice for the completion of this job for the original amount of $1200.00 along with an addendum in the amount of $673.02... and a balance due of $1873.02 and to make arrangements for pick up. I sent an email requesting a meeting with [redacted], the owner, to go over the breakdown of the addendum and a meeting was scheduled for August 20th in which [redacted] came and [redacted] didn't. I paid [redacted] the original invoice amount for $1200.00. Then I received this email on 9/9/14Dear [redacted]Thank you for choosing Affordable Roofing Siding & Gutters, Inc. as your roofing and exterior contractor. Please find your invoice reflecting the balance for project completion which is as of today 30days past due. Please make checks payable to Affordable Roofing Siding & Gutters, Inc. and call the office to arrange pick up.Please review and feel free to contact me directly with any questions at ###-###-####Once again, we appreciate your business and would ask that you keep us in mind for any future projects and/or referrals.Kindest regards,I responded on 9/9/14Dear [redacted],I have paid my balance in full, in the amount of $1200.00 in the form of a check written out to Affordable Roofing Siding and Gutters, Inc. per my contract. In your addendum you stated additional charges for $673.02 for the following...wrapped (2) two columns in rear of home. However, I do not have (2) two columns in the rear of my home, In fact, I don't have any columns wrapped in siding. Upon discussing this matter with [redacted], he was unaware of what this charge pertains to. Also discussed was the charge to replace the J-channel because it was damaged by my carpenters, when in fact [redacted] stated that it was because he couldn't find it. However, I am willing to pay for the (3) three pieces of j-channel that he and I discussed at the cost of approximately ($7.00) seven dollars a piece and for the two rolls of tape that were used as well as (1) one roll of tyvec wrap. Please contact me as soon as possible to resolve this matter.Thank you[redacted]Then I received an email on 9/10/14Dear Mrs. [redacted],This is an explanation of charges:1 trip charge due to j-channel& siding damage by carpenters ([redacted] had to go to the south shore to pick up materials and bring them to your property).1 trip charge due to Tenant' asking [redacted] to leave because her child was sleeping in room where work around window was to be performed.1 trip charge due to window leak (Mr. [redacted] contacted [redacted] and said that if we didn't get out there to fix the leak, he was throwing us off the project) [redacted] went out and had to install tape and tyvek around the window on 2nd story that was installed by your carpenter.Costs due to keeping WC & GL Insurance.I hope this explain's clearly the charges. Please submit payment to Affordable Roofing Siding & Gutters, Inc. as soon as possible.Thank you,[redacted] Affordable Roofing Siding & Gutters, Inc.###-###-####The addendum to this contract is for work that was not performed and now am receiving yet another addendum to the same effect with a different explanation of charges and also containing work not performed, pertaining to the 2nd story along with allegations of hearsay.Thank you, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I feel that I have fulfilled my end of the original contract with the agreed amount of $1200.00 paid in full.I have offered to pay for the cost of additional supplies noted in my letter...which is J-channel,tape and tyvec wrap.
