I just had a wonderful experience in and under a very critical situationI am + years of age, and had let to much time elapse with some chipped and broken teethThey became inflamed and infectedI called around there were insurance issues with most dental entities, though I had a dental supplement planI went on line being new to Warren PAand read some reviews of several area and close by Dentist and companiesI found a review on Affordable Smile of Corry, PA There was some pros and cons, as is expected, but one review hit home for meIt was by a local news reporter, who like me had a serious problem and needed help ASAPHe didn't sugar coat everything nor did he give an undue critiqueHe told a real story and it lead me to call and see if I could get in to be examinedThey took me or made room for me that very afternoonIt was further away then I wanted to go but they were so pleasant and wiling to help I had to take a chance and the drive, to accept their offer of helpTo my relief and their credit and I say their, for they, from the receptionist to assistants, technicians and the dentist himself, proved themselves to be very worthy of the praise they had received in the review by that reporterWithin the next few days beginning that day, with x rays and impressions,a prescription for antibiotics to clear up the infection and then in just under a week, I have a new smile and although uncomfortable at times because I went home against suggestions of rest I finished installing kitchen cabinets and mowed, a push mower, my entire lawn stars and a tremendous appreciation for all the people and staff at " Affordable Smiles 'in Corry, PennsylvaniaThank You AllSemper Fi Folks, [redacted]  

I am very unhappy with the service I received from Affordable SmilesBack in January 2017, my bottom denture brokeI set up an appointment and when I arrived I waited for hour and minutes past my appointment time before I was seenThe building is very small and not very hygenic lookingThe walls in the very back exam room looked dirty and the exam utensils also didn't look very clean even thought they were sealed in plastic.They took xrays and then developed a treatment plan for me(i was going to have my frenum cut and the bone in my upper jaw ground down and tooth fragments removed from my lower jawThe fee upfront after insurance was $ When I went to this next appointment to have this prep work done, The doctor only does my frenum and upper jawI ask him why he's not doing my lower jaw as that is this reason I initially came to them He apologized and said that he doesn't know why he forgot to include that in my treatment planI will have to make another appointment on another treatment plan and( of course what should have been included in that $payment ) I had to pay in advancce another $I ask why I have to pay for the doctors mistake and am told that they can't just do it for freeSo I had to pay for their mistakeSo I suck it up and get that procedure doneWhen I am ready to leave the doctor says approximately weeks to next appointment to allow for proper healing before they take impressions for my upper and lower denturesThe appointment finally rolls around and I have to leave work early as I am coming from Jamestown, NY, lose pay,drive for nearly an hour in snowfall with drifting and whiteouts because it is so windyI arrive at the appointment only to be told that " I'm sorry but we are not taking your insurance any moreWe would be happy to keep you as a patient but we will need full payment up front for the dentures." they then check to see if they can get me a loan and succeedBut by that time I am absolutely livid that they didn't have the courtesy to call me and tell me they stopped accepting my insurance and they didn't give me a chance to reschedule or cancel the appointmentI leave and call my insurance company and tell them what has occuredAnd together we find another dentistI call Affordable Smiles on Thursday the 23rd of March and state that I will be stopping by on Monday the 27thto picked up my records and the person I spoke with said o.k they would have them readyI leave work today to head out there and the records are not ready for me and she asks me to sign a release and oh by the way it will cost $for the records to be releaseI was so angry at yet again having my time wasted not being informed ahead of time that they would charge a feeI told them to forget it and leftIn New York we don't have to pay for medical records as they are our records and we have a right to themI don't know the law in Pennsylvania but it seems pretty shady to meI feel like these people were only trying to get my moneyMy recommendation is to stay as far away from them as possible

I went in for root canal July 27th had three appointments since and all three were cancelledFirst time dentist was sick, second time medical emergency, third time today Sept cancelled due to insurance My wife called insurance they have never received a claim, she called office back and office person told her can"t bill insurance if the permanent cap wasn't put on I had to pay $out of my own pocket to get procedure done in July and I can't get my permanent cap on they keep cancellingNow another week or two there is always an excuse, but you have to pay your share out of pocket the day you receive the service Having problem with the tooth and they don't care

I called and made an appointment for an emergency extraction I went on time with a check and was told they do not accept checks and they were very rude and demanded cash up front to get seen I said OK if I go get the $I can get my tooth pulled today? She said yes go to the ATM and get it so I did n came back and she promptly took my money n said I'll get u a receipt ...which she never did...then I sat n waited over a half hour in the waiting room then I was taken back and I was in pain but they left me waiting in the chair over an hour while all they did was take an xray then a lady came back n said if I wanted my tooth pulled it would be another $and I would have to get out of the chair drive back to the ATM or whatever and get the money THEN they would pull my tooth I said ohhhh no u told me if I went n got $cash I could get my tooth pulled today and she gave me this big line that made no sense basically she knew I was in pain n needed my tooth pulled and they were trying t

Their attempt to pass on regular expenses which we are not responsible for is unethical and illegal. I have seen this before with other landlords taking advantage of college students due to their lack of knowledge in regards to the law. Luckily I have done my research and hope things are settled correctly.

Review: Scheduled an emergency appointment at Affordable Smiles. Was seen that day without awareness no dentist was in. Not able to be given antibiotics. Needed 80 payment for appointment stated to be used for future payment. Receipt stated was credit on our account. Recommended to go to emergency room, even though we had no insurance, for antibiotic. Scheduled appointment with other dentist and received antibiotic. They refused to fax x-rays and we had to pay new dentist for new x-rays. Was told they would refund money. Did not return phone calls. Now two months later they are stating they cut us a deal on office visit. Even though originally told was no cost. And will not refund money. Originally stated they issue refunds at the end of the month and would be arriving by mail by check. Now stating no refund and very rude, won't give information or medical records paid for.Desired Settlement: Would like refund of $80 credit on account as originally stated.

Review: I came to Affordable Smiles by the sale of the business I was doing business with. I was seen for the first time in 2015 and some work was quoted, performed and paid without incident. On June 29th I was given a quote I was quoted for future work. I signed the quote and the page shows that I paid the quote in full on July 10th.

Later I receive a bill for $566. This bill reveals itself on a page 2. Without my signature and a disclaimer to free themselves of responsibility of the accuracy of their quotes. I let them know I was puzzled about this and wanted explanation. I was told my insurance didn't pay what they thought it would and I was responsible for the balance.

I told them, as a consumer, trusted them to be professional with quotes and work performance. I further told them that in good faith, I would pay half of their mistake and I did. They were not willing to own any responsibility and expected me to pay the entirety of their misquote. I will not.

I have since changed providers and will hold those to the same standard.Desired Settlement: Honor their quoted price.
