complaining about the work only the price. Following is my account of this incident. We got a call from the driver that he was broke down, with any service call there is a charge of $150.00 dollars, this is an industry standard all repair facilities charge this. I do not know of any facility anywhere in the United States that does not, We dispatched our mechanic to the road site, and he got the truck going good enough to bring to the shop. We did this to prevent him from having to have this towed which would have cost him about $450.00 Our pricing was discussed with the driver with our service manager before the mechanic was dispatched. This was a dealer item and had to pick up from the dealer. We are 30 miles from any dealer, and we only have two mechanics on duty, so we when we have to go for a part this does take time. We are on Hwy 71 and incur major grid lock every day. This is beyond our control. Our normal charge for a part run is $95,00 because it takes at least an hour to make it to the parts shop and return, so even if it takes 2 hours to pick up a part we still just charge $95,00. On this issue 1 charge $65.00 because he was picking up other parts, I still have overhead to bill for and again this is an industry driven charge, all repair facilities charge for this service. If I use a courier there is still a charge. Once we got the part back, we installed it and had to replenish his coolant. The truck had lost all coolant when the hose broke. When a truck is empty it takes 12 gallons to get it back to the level it needs to be. This is common knowledge, Once the bill was complete the driver called his owner and gave him the amount. following is my response.
We are a part of a group called PTP, and also Napa, both of these organizations have warranties for any issues which may arise from work that we perform on a vehicle. It seems that this customer is not complaining about the work only the price.
This company knew our pricing before we started. I was handed the phone and told "He is [redacted]" as soon as I got on the phone, I was greeted with "Do you want to explain this [redacted] that you are giving me!" I went over the bill and he argued about each item. Number one said we should not be charging a service fee that that is unheard of. He knew the service fee when he called up to do the job. Then he argued about the parts run, said he should not be charged that either. Then he said his truck only holds 10 gallons not 12, our machine measures this and it held 12.
I told the man he needed to lose his attitude with me, and was spoken to like a dog. He kept telling me I was [redacted] him and was that my final answer, he threatened me with, “He had trucks in the area all the time and if I don't change my bill, he will never send them in again." To which I replaced, We have been here for two years and you have never been in my shop before, so I don't think I am going to miss the business.
We was a very nasty ugly man. His driver stated that he had told his boss when he broke down to bring the hose and they could fix it. The owner refused and said just call a shop.
Clearly this man, just likes to be hateful and push people around. Our shop rate and charges are again standard for this industry, I adjusted our bill to pacify this hateful man as much as I could and did not need to do that,
When the owner of this shop got involved, he did tell the man he needed to pay his bill or we would call the police and the dot to get them involved. We have nothing to hide from either enforcement.
As far as racial comments, I am not aware of them, the driver sat in the waiting room, watching TV discussing his diet and working out. We are not racially biased people, we welcome all nationalities to our facility. We have repeat customer from all nationalities here and they encourage our business via the CB and other media, we are liked by many companies. The driver did state that his boss was an arrogant man and he was looking for someone else to driver for.
The owner clearly had a choice to make, fix his truck himself, or pay for someone else to fix it and he choice to have the repairs done by an outside facility which has cost attached.
I have attached the invoice so you can have this for your records.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution. Please respond here ONLY]
Whoever answered this complaint has added untrue statements. To start , the f word was never used. This is a desperate attempt to take the focus off of them. I was told $95 for road call by whoever answered the phone which I can only assume is a qualified employee of the company to give quotes. The information is easily available from Detroit diesel and Freightliner that a 2007 Freightliner Columbia with a 14 liter Detroit engine has a coolant capacity of 10 us gallons. To say I don't know my vehicle, which I've owned and done all repairs and maintenance on for the last 5 years , is again a desperate attempt to take the focus off of them. We own 10 trucks and have been in business since 1990. We know our trucks. Maybe they should calibrate their fluid counter. No matter the outcome of this complaint , this company will never see another one of our trucks and we will aggressively detour our friend and colleagues from going there for any reason. Businesses like them that inflate prices to take advantage of a vehicle broke down away from home should be able to be fined for unfair practices.
