Agawam Dog Works Reviews (2)

On [redacted] 2015 I brought my [redacted] to Agawam Dog Works. He's been there before and it was time for him to have his nails trimmed and his coat groomed. He was there several hours, the groomer called me and told me he was ready. When I arrived they indicated he was a bit tense, had been limping after the haircut, etc. They also referred to him as a good boy, a pretty dog, etc. He wasn't limping earlier in the day and didn't show any signs of injury until after the grooming session. I took him home to rest and decided I would give him a day or two, maybe he was just scarred. After a few days he didn't return to normal. We brought him to the emergency animal hospital in S. [redacted] on [redacted] 2015. They performed multiple tests and some x-rays. They informed me he had a fever, his leg was injured and confirmed it is possible he got the injury from being held/restrained too tightly or perhaps trying to fight back against the groomers hold. We spoke with Dr. [redacted] who explained the situation and aftercare/treatment that would be required to make him well. We paid the bill for [redacted] and decided we would reach out to the groomers to discuss further. I reached out to the groomer to explain what the vet told me. I gave the vet permission to release info. The groomer indicated she would call the vet and would get back to me. I waited a week with no word. I called the groomer and she advised she spoke with the vet, she stated the vet didn't confirm anything we stated and that she would cover half the bill. I explained the dog was in her care and it was her responsibility. She then proceeded to tell me the dog was difficult, old, maybe even crazy. I asked why she didn't stop the grooming process when he was acting up, I would've picked him up and we could've cancelled the appointment. This conversation led nowhere. During my research trying to figure out my next steps, I noticed on the groomer's website that the salon also operates as training/certification for groomers. Honestly I hasn't noticed this before and don't remember any clear signs at the store saying that. They also never told me if the groomer working on my dog was certified or one of the students; there were no disclosures given, no obvious signs in the store and I signed no waiver of any kind. I reached out to the organization referenced on her website for more information. They advised that while they handle training/certification, they do not endorse it done by these other individuals. They advised me to contact the Revdex.com.Order_Number: XXXXXXAccount_Number: XXXXX - ADesired SettlementSo this is where we are now. I have two main concerns: 1.) They should be responsible for the vet bill, plain and simple. I brought my dog to them in good condition, we left with him having an injured leg. 2.) I still don't know if my dog was seen by a certified groomer or a student. I think that the owner of the store should put up more obvious signs so customers are aware and perhaps give a sign out sheet of some sort so all of that type of information is disclosed before the pet parent decides whether or not to use their services. I think it's a simple request. I'm not asking for anything major here. Just for my dogs medical bill to be covered due to errors made at the groomer or for future clients to be made aware of the detailed business practices.http://www.agawamdogworks.com/Grooming.phphttp://www.agawamdogworks.co... Response In the interest of preserving consumer goodwill I will reimburse the client. I maintain that I did nothing wrong and think it was a coincidence. I would require the complainant to sign a document saying "I realize that Agawam DogWorks does not think that they did anything wrong but are paying me in the interest of goodwill. That really isn't asking a lot of the complainant to get 100% of the money when we believe we did nothing wrong. Should the complainant wish to collect his check all he needs to do is to go to our attorneys office [redacted] Attorneys at Law [redacted] XXXXX, sign a document and a check will be waiting.
