Revdex.com:
I want to thank you for giving me all the information on Revdex.com’s arbitration processI have decided to go straight to small claims court and file with themI feel Doug at Agen’s Automotive has not been forthcoming during this process regarding the bending of the block heater and I am prepared to have this process completed by the courtsI hope Revdex.com takes this case in consideration when rating Agen’s Automotive on their next evaluationI also hope others who have had the misfortune of experiencing their lack of customer service and dishonest work come forward and let fellow consumers know what they may be getting into by using their businessAgain, thank you for assisting me in the Revdex.com complaint process. Sincerely,

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:I feel Agen’s Automotive is not being truthful in their responseWhen I contacted them about wanting to be reimbursed it was not for the work the new shop has done which they are saying in their responseI told them I wanted to be refunded for the original work that according to other shops should have never been done on my carThey seem to think that I can’t grasp the concept that NAPA would be covering the work from the other shop but I fully understand that and that is not what I am or ever was trying to have them pay forWhen I first contacted Jared he did tell me it would be two weeks before they could do anything with my car regarding the block heater and I decided to go somewhere else partly because they could see me priorAs Agen’s Automotive mentioned in their response I had been seen there for ”reattaching the battery hold down from us installing a battery on her initial visit, replacing belts, a power steering pump, a belt idler pulley and locating a leak in the windshield washer bottle.” The replacement of the battery hold down was due to them not completing their work and attaching it after replacing the batteryI had them replace the belts in my car and the day I got it back I started to have a leak from the power steering pump, which was suspicious to me since they just did work with the power steering beltAfter that I continued to have noise with the belts and brought it back once again and they found a pulley that needed to be replaced and their mechanic Jeremy came out and told me that should have been looked at when they replaced the beltsEvery time I have had work done something has gone wrong but was loyal and came back to have them do more workNow that I have filed a complaint why would I trust them to do good work on my car when I couldn’t get that to happen previouslyAs I mentioned in my original complaint I never mentioned the block heater tripping GFI outlets because I was under the impression it was due to the faulty wiring in my old homeOnce I had a new home built and it did the same thing (the next winter) I knew it was a problem with the heater and reached out for helpI only went to Agen’s Automotive the day they wanted to see the part to make sure it was faultyThat visit they told me to file a claim with NAPA for the work done, which I did but they did not understand that I wanted the refund for the original work as mentioned aboveAfter that visit I never went back to Agen’s Automotive unlike they stated in their responseI spoke with Jared on the phone when I received the refund form NAPA for the work the other shop did and told him they did not cover the original work which is what I wanted to be refunded for since it should of never happenedIf this can not be settle through Revdex.com, which you have to do first according to Revdex.com rules that state once something has gone through arbitration you can not file a complaint, I do intent to file at small claims court which I did tell Jared but I never said my father is a lawyer because you don’t need one for small claims court nor is he oneEvery time I have had work done to my vehicle at Agen’s Automotive there has been something wrong with itThis is why I will not accept a $credit to their shop because I would never bring a car I own back there nor would I ever recommend them to someoneWhen I look at the invoice I received from Agen’s Automotive I went down the list for the total cost of everything charged for the installation of the engine block heater, which is how I got the $Agen’s is stating that I only paid $299.13, which I would settle for reimbursement.
Sincerely,

Agen's Automotive first worked on ***'s Nissan Sentra on11/18/2015.The repair instructions stated as follows "Check to see if oil pan pad heater and adviseEstimate for installing a engine block heaterAdvise if hard start may be more than just cold weather caused".The repair notes read as
follows "Test engine heaterTested the battery blanket and the oil pan heater and found them to be operationalAlternator assembly R&RHad to remove the alternator to access the freeze plug for the block heaterInstall (winter) engine block heaterInstall engine block heater and route cordTest starting and charging systemCheck alternator output, test battery, starter draw, key off draws and voltage drop on battery cablesBattery R&ROld battery tested badReplaced the battery. On 11/18/at 4:pm, Service writer, Jeremy, discussed our findings and repair options with *** approved repairs and services in the amount of $The repairs and services were complete on 11/20/at 4:pm in the amount of $Of the $611.73, $was for the installation of the engine block heater if you include the AAA discount.Since ***'s first visit *** has brought her Nissan back for inspections and repairs times which include reattaching the battery hold down from us installing a battery on her initial visit, replacing belts, a power steering pump, a belt idler pulley and locating a leak in the windshield washer bottleShe never mentioned she was having a problem with her engine block heater.Nearly a year after the initial installation of the engine block heater *** called our shop and told us she was having problem blowing her GFI, she made an appointment for the next day at 4:pm for us to take a look at it*** never showed up for her appointment and we didn't here from her again until she called us to let us know she took her vehicle somewhere else.Agen's Automotive is a Napa Auto Care CenterThe way Agen's Automotive looks up parts is first by entering the Vin # on the work orderWe then select a link to an online catalog for Napa Auto PartsThe online catalog pulls up parts requested, applicable to the vehicle by the Vin #In this case it pulled up a Kat's engine block heater part #This is the part we installed in ***'s Nissan. As a Napa Autocare Center our customers are covered by the Napa Peace of Mind WarrantyWith the Napa peace of Mind Warranty the block heater we installed qualifies under the warranty as it is a part that is covered and is within the time and mileage requiredAdditionally the Peace of mind warranty requires the vehicle to be repaired at the shop who performed the original work to the vehicle unless the shop is outside a mile radius of the original shopIn this case *** made the decision to have a repair shop outside of the mile radius to work on her vehicle She called the phone number for the Napa Peace of Mind office which she found on the back of her repair orderAt this point she started a claim with the warranty company and Agen's Automotive was out of the picture for the Peace of Mind Warranty at this pointIf *** had brought the vehicle to our shop we would have handled the warranty claim which would have been to replace the defective engine heater***, at the advice of the other shop chose to have the engine heater removed rather than have it replacedThis is what the warranty paid for. Before the warranty claim was settled, *** came to our shop and demanded we pay the warranty claimShe informed us her dad was an attorney and that if we didn't pay the claim she was going to take us to small claims courtWe informed her that she made the claim with Napa and that they were the ones who were going to reimburse her on the claim*** did not understand why we weren't the one's reimbursing her on her claimWe instructed her to call Napa Peace of Mind Warranty to get clarificationShe called them on her cell phone at which time she along with our service writer talked with the claims adjuster and were able to clarify the situation with ***She said she would be back if she didn't receive her reimbursement.*** came back and was upset that Napa only reimbursed her for the work the other shop didAgain, she informed us her dad was an attorney and that if we didn't give her the money back for the original installation of the block heater she would take us to small claims courtShe did not understand that she changed what she wanted done to her vehicle and that if she had the block heater replaced rather than removed she would have a working engine heater and would have been reimbursed for it It was ***'s choice to take the vehicle to another shopIt was unfortunate for her that they misinformed her about the application of the engine heater we installed causing her to decide to make the decision to remove it and install a freeze plug instead. We did feel bad for her, even though she was being difficult, and offered her a $credit for future work on her vehicle*** left upset and said she was taking us to small claims court. In ***'s statement she makes claims that are untrue.*** claims that when she called our shop to make an appointment to have us check her engine heater, we said we were booked weeks outThis is untrueWe set an appointment for her to come in the next day at pm*** did not show up for her appointmentAgen's Automotive has not been booked out for weeks in several yearsAlso, you do not need an appointment to have us check your engine heaterThis is a free service we doIt takes just a few minutes to connect a meter to the engine heater cord to see if it is working properly.*** claims the other shop told her there isn't an engine heater application for her vehicle and that the one we installed was modified (the heating element was bent)There is an engine heater application for ***'s NissanThe Vin# for ***'s Nissan is ***If you enter this Vin # on Napa's website you will see the engine heater, part # that we used in her vehicleWe have installed many block heaters in these Nissan'sAgen's Automotive was involved in an engine heater program several years ago that was sponsored by the city of AnchorageDuring the engine heater program we installed 1000's of engine heaters over a course of several yearsIt is not a habit of ours to modify the heating element as the other shop claims we didIn fact, we don't modify the heating elements*** brought the original engine heater in for us to look atWe tested the ground circuit and verified it was shorted with about the same amount of ohms you would measure holding the test leads in your hands measuring the resistance of your bodyThis slight amount of continuity is enough to blow a GFI circuit but not enough to blow a breaker on a non GFI circuitThis amount of resistance is commonly caused by the engine heater leaking and shorting the circuit or moisture getting on the electrical plug causing a short the same as getting any electrical cord wetI have never seen an engine heater cause a fire*** seemed paranoid that we were going to do something with the heater and didn't let it out of her sightWe didn't get a chance to inspect it long enough to see if it looked like it was bent or crackedWith the brief look we had we didn't see the modification that was claimed to have been done or the crack that the engine heater was claimed to have as a result of the modificationWe don't know if the engine heater may have been modified before we installed it, which could happen if someone tried to installed it and damaged or modified it then returned it to Napa who resold it to usOr it could have been damaged on removal which is almost impossible not to do since you usually end up prying them out.*** claims I didn't give her the time of dayI did give *** the time of dayI checked her engine heater with the meter and listened to her storyWhen I tried to explain the situation to her she just wasn't getting it so I let our service writer explain it to herWhich he seemingly was able to do with the help of the claims adjuster but later found out she didn't get the whole picture.*** claims I used to work at Vulcan Towing and Recovery and that I give them kick backsThat part is trueAbout years ago or so, I worked for Vulcan Towing and Recovery for about months under a different ownerI reward Vulcan's employee's with a $Subway gift card if they refer a new customer to our shopI also offer this reward not only to Vulcan Towing & Recovery but to all of our vendors, other shops and anyone else who refers a new customer to us Additionally I reward our customers for referrals of new customers to our shop with discounts on future visitsI don't know which driver referred *** to our shop but he most likely referred her because our experience of installing engine heaters because of the engine heater program we were involved with that was sponsored by the city.As far as ***'s desired settlement of $307.27, which is more than she paid for the original installation of the engine heater if you include the 10% AAA discount on parts she received, she has already received reimbursement for the work she chose to do rather than the original workAdditionally she has been offered a $in store credit which is still offered
