From the moment we signed up with Agrace for care for my mother, there were numerous communication errors as well as lack of care for my family.
We signed up with Agrace at the hospital the day before my mother came home. The people that we spoke with at the hospital told us that everything would be coordinated with the hospital and Agrace so everything would be set up at home for her upon her arrival. A team was going to come to our house within an hour after she arrived.
From the moment that my mother arrived by ambulance - on oxygen - the problems began. There was no team at our house, there was no oxygen provided for her either. My father and I made numerous calls during the day to Agrace to ask what was going on. Our calls were not returned until hours later, our messages that were left were never received by our team, and no team ever showed up at our house. A nurse called at 9:30am and told us that she would not be able to arrive at our house until 12:00pm.
My mother had difficulty breathing and no one notified us of a medication list that came home with her from the hospital. Over an hour later, I was told by the Agrace coordinator to look for a medication list that had a prescription for morphine. When I finally got the medication for her, her breathing improved.
2 months after my mother passed away my father received a letter from Agrace. It was addressed to my mother expressing their condolences about the passing of my father and that there were services available for her. This was the most insensitive and outrageous act of incompetence by this organization. I will be contacting the director of Agrace and filing a formal complaint. Do not use this organization's services ever.
