12/16/14To whom it may concern;
This letter is in reference to the letter I received on 12/8/14 with regards to a complaint by one of my former customers. I completed the work mentioned 2 years ago. Enclosed you will find photos displaying my work at the time of completion.
I...

believe that the mortar bled out because the customer admittedly applied salt, causing it to erode. The customer chose these pavers themselves and I provided a book that contained instructions on how to care for the pavers once installed. The book stated that salt should not be used on the pavers, The book also contained information as to what to expect with the pavers over time including seepage and some change in appearance or whitening.Because of some seepage or bleeding of the color that naturally occurs with the black pavers, and the representative at the paver supply store advised against using the black pavers with the red brick. However the customer insisted on the black pavers.
I have offered to replace the pavers at no charge for the labor if the customer pays for the cost of the materials. This offer was declined by the customer. I am still willing to replace the pavers for a reduced cost of $2800.00. The normal cost of the materials would be around$4200, This offer will stand until March 20, 2015,
I worked on several houses in the neighborhood around this time and this is the only one who is having any complaints.

Dear [redacted]:
This letter is in response to Aguilera Landscaping Masonary ID Number [redacted]. First of all Aguilera never told us anything about taking care of the pavers nor did he give us a book concerning the care of the pavers. He lied. Also he never tried to talk my wife out of buying gray paves. We never put any salt on the pavers. The bleeding of the pavers was caused by a poor mix according to other cement contractors who saw this job and gave their opinion. They said they have never seen pavers turn white and yellow before.
Also he did a neighbor across the street who sued him for work he did for her. This contracter has lied repeatedly about all the information he gave. Do you really think we would pick pavers if he would have told us they would turn white and yellow because of the colors of the pavers? Now he wants $2800.00 more on top of the $11,500.00 we paid him for a job that was never done right in the first place.
My wife and I have no confidence in this man. We have seen many jobs in the neighborhood done by other cement contractors and they are all beautifully done. We feel so taken over by this man and he continues to lie about everything. My wife and I are 69 years old and he should be ashamed of himself. By the way,the pavers are now sinking out front creating a gully that collects water.Sound like a professional?Thank you for listening,
