We first received contact from family members regarding [redacted], a detainee at [redacted] on Wednesday January 4, 2017. We received contact from both client’s mother as well as his niece, [redacted]. [redacted] contacted us to request that we visit her uncle [redacted] at the [redacted]...

[redacted] in Aurora Colorado. During that conversation with an ALG staff member, she was informed about the attorney fee as well as the interpreter fees (his native language is Creole, a language no staff member at ALG speaks) required for such a legal visit. During the day she called multiple times to the office to continue to inquire as to the cost and nature of our services. We informed her multiple times the costs for the services and that ALG is an immigration law firm which represents individuals in removal proceedings. The purpose of a legal visit with detainees is to determine their legal options available to them. Then she contacted us again after 5:00pm on Friday January 6, 2017. The purpose of that call was to pay the fees for an attorney with ALG to conduct a legal visit for her uncle [redacted], a total of $350 was paid to ALG. At that time, she was told that the attorney would try to arrange for the legal visit on the next business day, which would be Monday January 9, 2017. However, because we were hired for the legal visit after hours on Friday, there were already many other legal visits scheduled for Monday. That said, she was informed that the attorney conducting the legal visits would do her best to see him on Monday. On Monday, the attorney tried to fit him in but unfortunately, was not able to see him on Monday. The next day it is was communicated to client’s family that the attorney was not able to meet with the detainee on Monday. At that point they were told that the attorney could do the legal visit for another day or apply the money towards entering our appearance in representing him before the immigration court. [redacted] did not like any of these options and was very upset that we were not able to visit him on Monday. At which point she became belligerent and began referring to the staff as “motherfkers”. She used racist remarks in referring to ALG staff based on their ethnicity. The entire $350 paid by [redacted] on January 6, 2017 to ALG was immediately returned.  She thanked us for the refund and said that she wishes she would have contacted us sooner so we could have fit him in on Monday January 9, 2017. We have had no other contact from them since other than seeing an incredibly negative, exaggerated, and misleading review posted on Google as well as this Revdex.com complaint.Based on the history of events outlined above, we disagree fully with the attacks made on the firm and specific staff members. I understand she is upset that her expectations were not met and that is the primary cause of the frustration. However, at the time of refunding the amount paid in full, she recognized that had they acted sooner in contracting our services we would have been able to have performed the legal visit on Monday January 9, 2017. ALG acted swiftly with minimal notice to perform a last minute legal visit but due to the last minute contact and hire, it simply wasn't possible, despite ALG's best attempts. ALG tried to make further accommodations but those were rejected on Tuesday. Seeing that no accommodations or agreements could be reached ALG returned all money paid in full immediately to the family.
