My sister passed away on [redacted] 2014. I had an appointment with [redacted], the Funeral Director on [redacted] 2014. He took a copy of my sisters SS# card and her picture ID (as she didn't drive). In [redacted] 2015 when I got the death certicate, I saw that it was wrong. Her SS# was my phone number and her middle intinal was A not L. I have called repeatedly. He refuses to call me back. I called her doctor, [redacted] and asked if she could help. The funeral home refused to call her back. When I asked to see if I could see my sister when I got there, he said no.This has been a very trying and emotional time for me. I find it very unprofessional and outright wrong that the information is not correct. The Funeral Director said they would be sending the paper work to the VA to help pay for the cost. I recieved a bill with no explaination of the paper work to the VA saying how much they would pay. I called back and I did speak to someone diferent. He said the paper work was never sent in and that they would send it that day. Since then, I got another bill and have called several times. The last time I called I told her I was going to have my Lawyer call if they didn't call me back. She put me on hold and again never called back. My sister was only 54 and passed in her chair. She was the last of my family. On the bill, they have charged for copies of the death certificate 3 times, M.E. Cont, and shipping if I didn't pick her up, in which I did, permit, and crematory. I have had health issues due to this funeral home and fighting to fix their mess. I'm not paying them a dime until it's fixed. I still may call a lawyer as well.Desired SettlementI would like the death certificate fixed and the bill fixed so I can proceed with the VA etc. to clean up her affairs. This has caused me so much pain and suffering and quite honestly do not feel I should pay a dime. It amazes me how unprofessional and unapologetic and funeral home can be especially in a time of sadness and greif. All I am asking is to get this information fixed. As for the VA paper work they have sent me the forms and when I get the corrected 3 copies that I asked for I will send the papers to the VA and they will send me any funds. One ? for you, shouldn't it say (Yes) on the death certificate were the status of her being a veteran. they have (NO)in that box. The main reason I have to have this right is so I can submit this to VA. So I will not send money to him yet.
