Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Dear Revdex.com Representative:Following patient privacy law under Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and respecting client confidentiality, we cannot reveal any client information without written consent from the person being treated. The person (client) being treated is the one...
who is given a DSM-V code and is being billed either directly or through their insurance. In general, for all our clients, they receive intake forms prior to the first appointment that include our financial policy, assignment of benefits (insurance), and our billing and payment policy that explain authorization, insurance contracts, and patient financial responsibility. These forms are filled out and signed by the clients. With their signature, they understand and acknowledge the responsibility that goes with each policy. When a patient uses their insurance benefits, we are required to collect, co-payment, co-insurance, and or deductibles. When a patient has a federal funded insurance such as Medicare or Medicaid, waiving such co-pays or deductibles can be a violation of the Federal Anti-Kickback Statue. As for commercial insurance plans such as BCBS, Aetna, and or Health Partners, under The Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), these types of insurance providers have contracts, a legal binding agreement, to provide health insurance to employers and or employee- and now, under the Affordable Care Act, to individuals as well. Because of these contracts, which again is a legal binding agreement with an employer, or individual, we are unable to reduce a covered person's contractual financial obligation. Sincerely, Karen [redacted], CMA
