Ahren's Asphalt

This is a long story
If I could give this business less than star, I would in a heart beatWe saw a beautiful paving job that we thought Ahren's Asphalt had done for my husband's grandparents and we wanted to give a local small business a chance so we hired Ahren's Asphalt over a bigger company to pave our drivewayAhren's was at my residence for a couple of days and all I could hear the entire time was someone screaming at other workersWhen they left, they didn't immediately take their equipment with them - they just left it in my yard for a day or so which wasn't that big of a deal
When my husband and I took a good look at our driveway after they were finished we realized that there were still dips in the driveway that could easily collect water and form pot holes, the edges were SLOPPY and random land mines of tar were in my yard as well as my neighbor's yardAbout a week or two later weeds started growing up through the asphalt (ALREADY) and ant's started making their little hills all over the placeI'm assuming if the layer of asphalt were thick enough that may have happened eventually but not as quickly as it didBasically they did a TERRIBLE jobI would worried that the driveway wasn't going to hold up with all of the winter plowing, so I contacted David Ahren and he told me he would come out to look at itAfter a couple no call no shows, and him not returning our calls I left a semi-irritated voicemailThe man didn't even have the *** to return my callAlmost immediately after I hung up, he texted me! Because it was approximately Fall time, he told us that he had put his paving equipment awayHe said that we had HIS WORD that the driveway would withstand the plowing and that he would have it fixed in the SpringWe left him alone all WinterSpring came around, he ignored a few calls and then we finally got him to come out and look at the drivewayHe admitted that the job was definitely LESS than satisfactory and told us all that was wrong with itHe told us that he didn't want us to be unhappy and implied that he didn't want us to talk badly about his businessI'm guessing that was the only reason he even came outHe told us he was going to go the *** route and just lay another layer of asphalt down (even though it all needed to be ripped up and redone)He held us off once more telling us that his paving equipment was brokenFunny because it must have broke down as he was doing OTHER jobs before oursWe left him alone for a month or soWell into Summer, I texted him and asked him when he was going to fix our drivewayHe came up with more excuses and finally I had had itI told him that his excuses weren't acceptable and that if he didn't fix our driveway by the end of the month I would take him to court and give him *** reviews - as I'm doing nowHe responded by telling me that THREATS weren't acceptable, and that he WAS going to fix my driveway but not anymore under the circumstancesHe told me to take him to courtHe tried to turn it around on the customer as if I had done something wrong! LAUGHABLEMy grandmother smoothed it overShe was also given his worthless word that he would be out by the end of the month to fix itNever showedWe called him again, he told us he would be outNever showed
We spoke with my husband's grandparents and found out that he did not pave the drive, he only sealed it and they fired him because they were doing a *** job!
Please if you don't want to be lied to, be *** around, lose money, get attitude, and be ignored for months on end do NOT hire this manHe is a crook! He took advantage of us
