Mr*** sent his revolver in for extensive custom work on 11/4/We contacted him for payment information over the phone before we started the workHe asked if we would make an exception so that he could send a money order in the mail
and we agreedWe completed the work on 12/5/We extended the customer a 30% discount on the actual cost of the workThe customer then told us he could not pay for the work until Jan We agreed to hold the gun until thenThe customer failed to pay for the work in JanWe contacted him several times and finally we received a partial payment in AprilThe customer called and asked for the balance amount in late MayHe was told the balance and the shipping chargesHe refused to pay the shipping chargesWe informed him that the customer always pays the shipping charges for elective non-warranty custom workHe sent another money order for the balance but only paid for half the shippingWe told him the exact shipping amount and as recently as days ago sent him an email with the balance of the shipping amountWe have bent over backwards to accommodate this customerWe typically notify a customer that after days of non-payment his gun is considered abandoned and will be sold to cover his balance and that they will receive the difference, if there is anyWe made an exception for Mr***We have never paid the cost of shipping a customers gun, unless it was in connection with warranty workWe understand that customers have financial issues, but to send a gun in for custom work without the ability to pay for it and then to demand, after all the latitude we extended, for us to cover the cost of shipping, (approx $50) and then to file a complaint that we will not return his gun is simply not rightWe serviced hundreds of customers each year for many years and never had a customer refuse to pay their shipping costWe will be shipping the gun back to Mr*** next week and will write off the remainder of the shipping costThanks to Mr***, in the future we will not make any exceptions to our requirement for payment when work is orderedI guess the old saying that no good deed goes unpunished is more true that we wanted to believe
