Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: In rebuttal to Mr [redacted] ’ (Air2U) response to my recent Revdex.com compliantI will also start by addressing each of the replies as stated in his document that I received 13FEBthrough the Revdex.com website The original air handler blower motor was diagnosed as being more expensive to replace than an entirely new Air HandlerI stated this originally and have no reason to disagreeThis was never a point of contention nor an accusation of any kind I stated that I wanted to replace both my HVAC units (outside compressors and inside air handlers)I stated this originally and have no reason to disagreeThis was never a point of contention nor an accusation of any kind The discussion of relocating both air handlers from their original location was initiated by me as they were blocking attic access and hindering maintenance efforts (i.efilter changes, etc.)This resulted in the original quoted price of approximately $13,(can’t exactly recall original price quote but it was approximately $lower than final cost) being raised to $15,which I paid and I also built the support structure Mr [redacted] specified would be required for the relocationThis is also not a real concern to me as it was a needed improvement that would allow me to more safely and effectively access my air handlersThis was never a point of contention nor an accusation of any kind Air2U did add new return and supply plenums but since my original complaint I have had HVAC contractors come out to try and finish the work and get my HVAC system running properly and have now been shown that Air2U built both return and supply plenums too small and reused my old air filter boxes which are also too small for the installed air handlers (reducing both return and supply air velocity and decreasing the overall efficiency of both air handler units)Dampered rings WERE originally installed on my ductwork despite what Mr [redacted] has statedHe apparently does not recall the conversation he and I had in front of my house after all old units were removed and we were discussing mold in old plenums and that’s when I asked about them and he stated they would be replaced as originally foundThis WAS NOT doneA couple days later I did call and informed Mr [redacted] one vent downstairs was erroneously connected to the upstairs air handlerThis was not originally configured this wayThis vent is directly over my couch and I know exactly when/how it worked prior to Air2U coming to my homeSimply put, Air2U accidentally hooked it to the wrong air handler, I called about it and they came back out to connect it to the correct oneUnfortunately his idea of fixing it was to run a new duct (a 12” I believe) to the correct air handler and then shove the old duct (a 10” I believe) into the new one and tape them togetherAgain restricting airflow from my new air handler Hot/cold spots were never discussed in regards to my old HVAC systemThe topic of hot/cold spots only came up when Air2U returned to fix the misrouted vent and that’s when I inquired about balancing the system so that all rooms would be equalMr [redacted] obviously don’t remember saying he would get me on his schedule in the next couple days to come back and that he would insert disks made out of plenum material with holes cut into them to restrict and balance the air flow to each room (not the proper way to balance a system but since he didn’t install dampers like he was supposed to it would be the cheapest way to balance the system)Home/HVAC design flaw was never mentioned until I had called a couple times complaining of home not heating to degrees when it was freezing outsideMr [redacted] states “we replaced each system like size for like size, the difference was from a straight cools system to a seer Trane heat pump system.” This is also NOT the caseI originally had a ton compressor and air handler (AC only) for the upstairs system and a ton compressor and air handler (AC only) for the downstairs systemAir2U installed a ton heat pump with a ton air handler for the upstairs and a ton heat pump and ton air handler for the upstairs systemI am currently being told by separate HVAC contractors that the ton heat pump and ton air handler setup is incompatible and I will need to replace the air handler for the system to run optimally without premature damage to my compressor and air handler and that this setup will never deliver the performance a matched ton to ton system would have I did call again around Christmas as it was freezing outside and I was having to run an electric heater to maintain a room temp of and the new heat pump was not doing the job it should beI had replaced the original A/C only thermostat after the initial install because Air2U didn’tThe new one was for heat pumps but apparently didn’t have an emergency heat option on it (it did however have an aux heat capability)Since I was not asking the thermostat to provide emergency heat this is of no relevanceMr [redacted] came out and blamed everything on the thermostatHe did replace the thermostat and did not charge me for itHe states “we stated during the install his straight A/C Thermostat wasn’t going to work with the heat pump system, but he didn’t feel like it was true” but one - why would I argue against a new thermostat and two – he replaced the upstairs thermostat with a new one and it was never discussedI assume it was part of the install cost of the systemWhat was my affinity for a year old thermostat to the downstairs system which was the same as the one upstairs that he replaced without mention or argument from me? The reason my new heat pumps were unable to put out enough heat to warm my home to degrees is that Mr [redacted] /Air2U DID NOT connect both sets of heat strips that supply aux heat when its below freezing outsideThis has also now been pointed out to me by separate HVAC contractorsI have to now pay for a new breaker and wiring for this to work properlyWhy did Air2U not point this out during the install? I did call Mr [redacted] again on New Year’s weekendAgain, it was below freezing outside and my HVAC had ran constantly for days hours a day and my home was below degreesI had no idea that when it was below freezing outside that a heat pump couldn’t provide the heat necessary and would rely on the heat strips to make up for the differenceAfter researching on the internet and that lack of knowledge on my part led me to text Mr [redacted] and admit I was wrong in my understandingAt that time (not knowing Air2U didn’t connect my heat strips correctly) I asked about pricing for more/bigger heat strips and cost and when he was going to come back and load balance my systemHe never once mentioned a cost to balance my system and honestly I would think that is part of an install – making sure the system is working and heating/cooling properlyI had now shut every vent in the downstairs and closed off all rooms, except the living room and kitchen/dining room and STILL the temperature was below degreesOn the New Year’s Day call Mr [redacted] stated he would come out in a couple days and try to figure out the issue – I explained it was cold and I needed an emergency visit sooner than a couple days and asked if he knew anyone who would do an emergency visitHe stated that was my problem but that HE/Air2U WOULD NOT pay for someone else to look at the system and we would discuss everything when he got thereI agreed that we would discuss it then and that was allNever did I make any threatening text messages or statementsThis is purely a ploy on Mr [redacted] ’ part to make it seem as if I’m “dangerous” and claim personal safety concernsAlso, when I finally DID get contact with Mr [redacted] again, he stated he didn’t have pricing for the heat strips, he was driving and there were sirens in the background of the call and I made the joke that “it sounds like you moving too fast” (that’s the threatening and offensive comment) at which point he stated he had done all the work at my home he was going to do, that he didn’t feel safe and he hung up Since Mr [redacted] (Air2U) has refused to come back to my home (“for his safety” – what a joke)and fix the issues that still exist I have had to contact a couple of other HVAC companies in the Boerne area to come and look at my system to try and get it in proper working orderI have been told now that there are multiple issues with my HVAC systemCurrently, I am being told I need to replace one of my month old air handlers to the proper size for the compressor as well as the other below listed items at a cost of approximately $ • Improper ductwork (wrong sizes) • Ductwork not routed properly (crimped – reducing airflow) & (larger ductwork shoved into smaller ductwork) • Dampers not installed to allow for management of air flow to rooms • Not enough return air source flow • Plenums are too small on both input and output sides of both air handlers • Current air filter boxes need to be replaced with proper sized ones (old filter boxes reinstalled) • Entire house needs to be air load balanced • Air2U reused both of my old air filter boxes which are too small for new systems • Did not hookup electricity to all heat strips in the new air handlers (I don’t need more or bigger heat strips – I need another breaker and wiring installed and connected to all installed heat strips so that they can work) • Heat strips that are connected come on and stay on during entire heat cycle (never go off) – improperly wired • ton compressor is connected to a ton air handler (receipt states I paid for a complete ton system) • Improper water drain pipe size and installation (runs level vs high to low) • No secondary water drain lines installed From this list of issues it would seem Mr [redacted] forgot to mention a couple things to me before starting the job and/or when he was finished taking my paymentHe did a sloppy job and figured I would be none the wiser till years later when things started to break down at which point he would be long gonePromised to come back to fix things and didn’tMr [redacted] skimped on parts, labor and materials and tried to get out quickHe never had any intention on doing the job correctly Regards, [redacted]

Good Morning, Air 2 U stands compliant we responded too. Thanks

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
In rebuttal to Mr. [redacted]’ (Air2U) response to my recent Revdex.com compliant. I will also start by addressing each of the replies as stated in his document that I received 13FEB18 through the Revdex.com website.
1. The original air handler blower motor was diagnosed as being more expensive to replace than an entirely new Air Handler. I stated this originally and have no reason to disagree. This was never a point of contention nor an accusation of any kind.
2. I stated that I wanted to replace both my HVAC units (2 outside compressors and 2 inside air handlers). I stated this originally and have no reason to disagree. This was never a point of contention nor an accusation of any kind.
3. The discussion of relocating both air handlers from their original location was initiated by me as they were blocking attic access and hindering maintenance efforts (i.e. filter changes, etc.). This resulted in the original quoted price of approximately $13,800 (can’t exactly recall original price quote but it was approximately $1500 lower than final cost) being raised to $15,300 which I paid and I also built the support structure Mr. [redacted] specified would be required for the relocation. This is also not a real concern to me as it was a needed improvement that would allow me to more safely and effectively access my air handlers. This was never a point of contention nor an accusation of any kind.
4. Air2U did add new return and supply plenums but since my original complaint I have had 2 HVAC contractors come out to try and finish the work and get my HVAC system running properly and have now been shown that Air2U built both return and supply plenums too small and reused my old air filter boxes which are also too small for the installed air handlers (reducing both return and supply air velocity and decreasing the overall efficiency of both air handler units). Dampered rings WERE originally installed on my ductwork despite what Mr. [redacted] has stated. He apparently does not recall the conversation he and I had in front of my house after all old units were removed and we were discussing mold in old plenums and that’s when I asked about them and he stated they would be replaced as originally found. This WAS NOT done. A couple days later I did call and informed Mr. [redacted] one vent downstairs was erroneously connected to the upstairs air handler. This was not originally configured this way. This vent is directly over my couch and I know exactly when/how it worked prior to Air2U coming to my home. Simply put, Air2U accidentally hooked it to the wrong air handler, I called about it and they came back out to connect it to the correct one. Unfortunately his idea of fixing it was to run a new duct (a 12” I believe) to the correct air handler and then shove the old duct (a 10” I believe) into the new one and tape them together. Again restricting airflow from my new air handler.
5. Hot/cold spots were never discussed in regards to my old HVAC system. The topic of hot/cold spots only came up when Air2U returned to fix the misrouted vent and that’s when I inquired about balancing the system so that all rooms would be equal. Mr. [redacted] obviously don’t remember saying he would get me on his schedule in the next couple days to come back and that he would insert disks made out of plenum material with holes cut into them to restrict and balance the air flow to each room (not the proper way to balance a system but since he didn’t install dampers like he was supposed to it would be the cheapest way to balance the system). Home/HVAC design flaw was never mentioned until I had called a couple times complaining of home not heating to 70 degrees when it was freezing outside. Mr. [redacted] states “we replaced each system like size for like size, the difference was from a straight cools system to a 16 seer Trane heat pump system.” This is also NOT the case. I originally had a 3 ton compressor and air handler (AC only) for the upstairs system and a 4 ton compressor and air handler (AC only) for the downstairs system. Air2U installed a 3 ton heat pump with a 3.5 ton air handler for the upstairs and a 4 ton heat pump and 3.5 ton air handler for the upstairs system. I am currently being told by 2 separate HVAC contractors that the 4 ton heat pump and 3.5 ton air handler setup is incompatible and I will need to replace the air handler for the system to run optimally without premature damage to my compressor and air handler and that this setup will never deliver the performance a matched 4 ton to 4 ton system would have.
6. I did call again around Christmas as it was freezing outside and I was having to run an electric heater to maintain a room temp of 70 and the new heat pump was not doing the job it should be. I had replaced the original A/C only thermostat after the initial install because Air2U didn’t. The new one was for heat pumps but apparently didn’t have an emergency heat option on it (it did however have an aux heat capability). Since I was not asking the thermostat to provide emergency heat this is of no relevance. Mr. [redacted] came out and blamed everything on the thermostat. He did replace the thermostat and did not charge me for it. He states “we stated during the install his straight A/C Thermostat wasn’t going to work with the heat pump system, but he didn’t feel like it was true” but one - why would I argue against a new thermostat and two – he replaced the upstairs thermostat with a new one and it was never discussed. I assume it was part of the install cost of the system. What was my affinity for a 10 year old thermostat to the downstairs system which was the same as the one upstairs that he replaced without mention or argument from me? The reason my new heat pumps were unable to put out enough heat to warm my home to 70 degrees is that Mr. [redacted]/Air2U DID NOT connect both sets of heat strips that supply aux heat when its below freezing outside. This has also now been pointed out to me by 2 separate HVAC contractors. I have to now pay for a new breaker and wiring for this to work properly. Why did Air2U not point this out during the install?
7. I did call Mr. [redacted] again on New Year’s weekend. Again, it was below freezing outside and my HVAC had ran constantly for 3 days 24 hours a day and my home was below 70 degrees. I had no idea that when it was below freezing outside that a heat pump couldn’t provide the heat necessary and would rely on the heat strips to make up for the difference. After researching on the internet and that lack of knowledge on my part led me to text Mr. [redacted] and admit I was wrong in my understanding. At that time (not knowing Air2U didn’t connect my heat strips correctly) I asked about pricing for more/bigger heat strips and cost and when he was going to come back and load balance my system. He never once mentioned a cost to balance my system and honestly I would think that is part of an install – making sure the system is working and heating/cooling properly. I had now shut every vent in the downstairs and closed off all rooms, except the living room and kitchen/dining room and STILL the temperature was below 70 degrees. On the New Year’s Day call Mr. [redacted] stated he would come out in a couple days and try to figure out the issue – I explained it was cold and I needed an emergency visit sooner than a couple days and asked if he knew anyone who would do an emergency visit. He stated that was my problem but that HE/Air2U WOULD NOT pay for someone else to look at the system and we would discuss everything when he got there. I agreed that we would discuss it then and that was all. Never did I make any threatening text messages or statements. This is purely a ploy on Mr. [redacted]’ part to make it seem as if I’m “dangerous” and claim personal safety concerns. Also, when I finally DID get contact with Mr. [redacted] again, he stated he didn’t have pricing for the heat strips, he was driving and there were sirens in the background of the call and I made the joke that “it sounds like you moving too fast” (that’s the threatening and offensive comment) at which point he stated he had done all the work at my home he was going to do, that he didn’t feel safe and he hung up.
Since Mr. [redacted] (Air2U) has refused to come back to my home (“for his safety” – what a joke)and fix the issues that still exist I have had to contact a couple of other HVAC companies in the Boerne area to come and look at my system to try and get it in proper working order. I have been told now that there are multiple issues with my HVAC system. Currently, I am being told I need to replace one of my 5 month old air handlers to the proper size for the compressor as well as the other below listed items at a cost of approximately $8700.00.
• Improper ductwork (wrong sizes)
• Ductwork not routed properly (crimped – reducing airflow) & (larger ductwork shoved into smaller ductwork)
• Dampers not installed to allow for management of air flow to rooms
• Not enough return air source flow
• Plenums are too small on both input and output sides of both air handlers
• Current air filter boxes need to be replaced with proper sized ones (old filter boxes reinstalled)
• Entire house needs to be air load balanced
• Air2U reused both of my old air filter boxes which are too small for new systems
• Did not hookup electricity to all heat strips in the new air handlers (I don’t need more or bigger heat strips – I need another breaker and wiring installed and connected to all installed heat strips so that they can work).
• Heat strips that are connected come on and stay on during entire heat cycle (never go off) – improperly wired.
• 4 ton compressor is connected to a 3.5 ton air handler (receipt states I paid for a complete 4 ton system)
• Improper water drain pipe size and installation (runs level vs high to low)
• No secondary water drain lines installed
From this list of issues it would seem Mr. [redacted] forgot to mention a couple things to me before starting the job and/or when he was finished taking my payment. He did a sloppy job and figured I would be none the wiser till years later when things started to break down at which point he would be long gone. Promised to come back to fix things and didn’t. Mr. [redacted] skimped on parts, labor and materials and tried to get out quick. He never had any intention on doing the job correctly.

AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING                                             LIC# TACLB00043024EComplaint ID # [redacted]               ...

Per the complaint made against Air 2 U, we are replying to each line in the order as complaint was made. 1. The Air Handler blow motor would have been more expensive then replacing the entire Air Handler. 2. Mr. [redacted] want to replace his straight A/C system over to Heat Pump system do to High Electric Bills they had last winter. 3. After discussing with Mr. [redacted] that the Air Handlers were too close to the attic access he agreed to have Air 2 U move the Air Handlers. Before moving to another location, he agreed on the location the Air Handlers would be moved.4. Air 2 U added new return and supply plenums also sealed supply and return ducts that were done prior to replacing the ductwork. Ductwork that was replaced didn’t have dampers at all there were rings around the collars which were old collars; collars are no longer made that way. Ductwork was put back to each system as originally found. Two days later Mr. [redacted] called in to say he felt air coming through the downstairs unit when thermostat was not calling for air downstairs. Air 2 U went out and rechecked the ductwork and noticed how the ducts were originally connected was incorrect and Air 2 U corrected the problem. This problem was more noticeable with the new higher rated system.5. Prior to doing any work Air 2 U always asks customers about any HOT or COLD spots, Mr. [redacted] said yes, in his office and movie room located downstairs. I stated to Mr. [redacted] that it was a design issue, we replaced each system like size for like size, the difference was from a straight cools system to a 16 seer Trane heat pump system per Mr. [redacted]’s request. 6. Received another call From Mr. [redacted] stating that the downstairs system was not working went out checked thermostat, as we stated during the install his straight A/C Thermostat wasn’t going to work with the heat pump system, but he didn’t feel like it was true, to showed him that this was the case Air 2 U replaced thermostat at no charge to Mr. [redacted]; showed him that system was heating well with no issues. 7. Received a call again from Mr. [redacted], he was trying to tell me how he felt the heat pump system was supposed to operate. I explained to Mr. [redacted] that the heat pump system does not operate the way he was explaining. He texted me stating that I was correct. Somewhere within the text message received from Mr. [redacted] he stated we’ll see about it once I come out, because the system wasn’t working well. After several phone conversations with Mr. [redacted] his text message seemed threating with the verbiage of we’ll see once I come to his home. At that point I didn’t feel comfortable at all,  we blocked his number Mr. [redacted] called again but from a different number and I stated that I was on another project and didn’t have pricing for larger heat kit for the downstairs system Mr. [redacted] made a joke out of it, then I stated to him that I wasn’t coming back to his house at this point Mr. [redacted] made another re[redacted] that I felt was offensive and threating. I hung up the phone then blocked that number also. Finally, Air 2 U will not be paying for any dampers because system didn’t have them to begin with; also load balance cost was not part of the job. Air 2 U would have done a balance for charge to correct hot and cold spots which Mr. [redacted] did not want to pay for from the beginning. Air 2 U will not provide service to the Mr. [redacted] residence.[redacted] CONTACT [redacted]Regulated by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation P.O.
