unfair business practices, dishonest or misleading communications
On 6/13/19 I contacted Air Capital Waste about their services and charges. During this contact, I expressed my dissatisfaction with previous trash service providers who wanted to charge me to pick up their carts when I wanted to change services even though I was a customer in good standing with no balance due. They assured me that was not their practice. On 7/3/19 I paid for annual service from 6/25/19 through 5/26/20. This would cover the 95 gallon cart provided by Air Capital plus as many as 10 extra trash bags or 3 additional 30 gallon cans. During this service period, Air Capital merged with Waste Link. I received information offering a service renewal with the combined companies. There would be a % price increase if I renewed service. On 5/27 around 8:30 am I called Waste Link to explore whether the new company's services were similar or different from that of Air Capital. It was explained that overages beyond the 95 gallon cart would be limited to 10 trash bags or 1 30 gallon can. This meant that in addition to increased price I would receive less service. Based on that, I decided to explore other service options, which I found a better offer from a competitor. A half hour later, still 5/27, I called back to arrange termination of service prior to the renewal date and asked when they could pick up their cart. They said they'd pick up the cart on Monday 6/1/20. I said it was about half full and asked if I should dump the contents into my new cart to avoid further charges and was told no, it would be ok if it wasn't empty. For the next 24 hours I began to wonder if there would be a cart pickup charge now that the company ownership had changed. I called back on 5/28 9:30 am to get clarification. I was told there would be charges not only to pick up the empty cart but also if there was material in the cart. I said that Air Capital had assured me that there would be no cart pick up charge and Waste Link's response was that Air Capital's agreement meant nothing since they are under new ownership. I said that's not how a contract works. I was informed there was no negotiation available. I informed them I'd file a complaint and they said ok. While the work of filing this complaint is more than what it's worth to have paid the pick up charge, it's the principal of the business practice and rightness that is more important to me. It's *** owners of companies like this that have no sense of fair and right business practices, or customer service that taint customer trust and cast suspicion for future business engagements for customers. I hope Revdex.com will objectively review this because I believe this is their core function, to promote fair and right business practices and help businesses understand the value of integrity and service mindedness.

Desired Outcome

My cart will be empty and available at the curb for pick up by Friday morning 5/29. I expect for no charges to be assessed against my account for Waste Link to pick up their empty cart prior to the next billing date for my account.

The cart will be picked up for no charge. I'm sorry that we were unable to provide the service you required at a rate that was acceptable to you. We were forced to raise our rates due to increases in disposal fees. Customer asserting that I am a greedy owner is unfair. We purchased Air Capital's assets when they were no longer able to pay their bills. We received NO compensation for accounts like this customer who paid annually and whose payment was collected by our predecessor. In essence, I picked up this customer's trash for 7 mos. for free. I have addressed both areas mentioned and have adjusted our policies--we will now pick up cart and 3 cans (max weight 40lb each) and will only charge a cart pick up fee if customer quits before the end of their service period.

just to clarify, first it wasn't the rate increase I reacted to. It was the reduction of service with a rate increase, and I see you have now adjusted that. You didn't pick up my trash for free, ever. Second, you purchased a contract so you knew there were accounts that had paid annually and you accepted that for the purchase price you paid, which was probably depressed. I paid for the trash service, so no you did not pick up my trash for free. This is the second distasteful experience I've had with Waste Link so I hope you don't purchase my next service provider because you don't train your staff to know how to address issues like this prior to the customer filing a complaint. I'm satisfied with the outcome but it shouldn't have taken this extra effort on either of our parts to get to this.

They have the most unreliable trash service I have ever had the misfortune to experience. I am beginning to feel as if they have a book full of excuses as to why they don't come to pick up your trash on the designated days. On top of that, they will say they will come on an alternate day to pick up what they didnt pick up before but not ONCE have they showed up when they said they would to pick it up. They have no issue charging you for your whole month of service, paying for their weekly pick up, but don't even mention reimbursing you when they mix multiple pick ups. In the month of May, they picked up our trash one time but we still laid the full amount for a service they did not provide. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Literally pick any other trash company and they have to do a better job. If you live in a rural area and want regular trash service, this is not the place for you. Beware.

We have been trying to get ahold of them to pay the bill and we call the lady gave out our account information to a stranger didn't even ask for our names or anything mind you this is my husbands account. Then I asked to speak to a manager and she straight up said no your not allowed to speak to our managers as your mad and I don't allow that. And I said let me talk to a manager as if I was a new customer and she said oh well they are in a meeting so your not allowed to talk to them.
Then there was like 2 weeks in a row that the trash people didn't even come pick up our neighborhood trash at all.

Desired Outcome

They can refund some of our money. As the lady did tell someone she was adding stuff to our bill.

When someone calls and identifies themselves as the account holders spouse they can get some information but they cannot make changes to the account or change the name on the account without the account holder asking us to do so. And yes the 3 managers have been in meetings/training for about 3-4 hours per day the past few weeks learning about new software that we are going to utilize. I have looked at the GPS that is on the truck that runs that route and the truck had stopped at every address that was active and in good standing on that route all the way back to ***. The spouse whose name is on the account has since called in and closed the account with a zero balance, no money owed and no refund due.

Failed to pickup trash. when I cancelled service they picked up the dumpster and left the trash in my my driveway then charged me $*** fee.
We have used Waste Link as our trash service provider for well over a year now. We were told they would pick up on Friday of each week and we had not had any issues until recently. I have always paid my invoices in a timely manner. Over the past few months, however, they might pick up on Friday or it might be Saturday. We're very conscientious about getting our trash out and do not like to leave our dumpster sitting out at the curb for days. For *** pickup, we put our dumpster to the curb on Thursday night ***. By Monday, ***, they still had not picked up and we began calling them. The young girl I first spoke to was *** but they finally came and picked up the trash. Within a few days, I called and cancelled service. I was paid up until the pickup on ***. I was told that after the trash was picked up to just leave the dumpster out and someone would pick it up. That's not what happened. The trash was not picked up first and when the person came and picked up the dumpster, they decided to leave the trash in our driveway. This was unwarranted and very unprofessional. We were not home at the time, but we have security cameras and were able to view this happen. We did not call and complain because we just wanted to be finished with this company. We do not condone poor quality service from any company but we feel that taking our business elsewhere and passing the information to friends and family is enough because companies like this usually don't care. On ***, we received a bill from Waste Link for a $*** cancellation fee. I called them at that point and told the same *** young girl to send someone to pick up the trash that they left in our drive way. I told her that they are the ones who broke the agreement by failing to pick up the trash as agreed but if they sent someone to pick up the trash I would gladly pay the $*** just to be rid of them. I told her I planned to complain to Revdex.com and City of ***. Nobody came to pick up the trash and nobody called me back. On *** I attempted to log in online to pay the $*** because I didn't want that to come back on me but I was not able to log in. Instead I received a message that the account was in collections. I have a very low tolerance for companies who treat customers as if they are doing us a favor. I will tell anyone and everyone who will listen what an awful experience we had with this company. After reading the reviews on ***, I'm not the first. I just wish I had read the reviews before I decided to use them for our trash service. When and if the management from Waste Link calls me back to resolve this issue, I will pay them the $*** they feel I owe them. However, I feel that they owe me a trash pick up and an apology because they are the ones who "cancelled" service by not picking up as scheduled.

Waste Link at this time was operating 8 routes, in the 2nd week of *** we had to drivers leave us. One just came in and said he was done the other left his truck parked on the street and called his wife to come get him, we were unaware of this until late in the day and spent the next few days playing catch up. Thru the rest of *** and the start of *** we were missing 25% of our route drivers due to the drivers quitting without notice. This put a serious strain on our customer service in the field for several weeks as we rapidly tried to find and train new employees, in that time frame our customer service was not where it should be. The customer did cancel and our new employee that picked up the container was not aware he was to take all the trash. The $*** charge is being removed from the account, our cart has been removed. It was all mistakes on our part and apologize for the poor service this customer had received.

I have used this company's service for nearly a year now. I have had no issues. They are always dependable and their equipment is always in good condition and clean. I am proud to have Waste Link service my waste needs and for my neighbors to see them working on my behalf.
After having over paid for years to another company, I changed to Waste Link beginning in 2017. I notified the previous company to pick up my bin and was expected to pay $. I couldn't believe it ! After being a loyal customer for years and paying on time they expected me to pay to have my bin picked up.
