Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:When the original technician came out, he did connect his gauges to my system and he specifically said that aside from the defrost control board, everything else was working perfectly The original technician quoted $to replace a $part that took me minutes to change myself When his supervisor came out he quoted $300-$to add refrigerant This company is doing everything they could to get $out of me Regards, [redacted]

We are disappointed that Mr*** is not satisfied with the service that AirCo has providedWe provide great service at a great valueOur technician followed the proper procedures in diagnosing the poorly performing heat pump systemThe defrost control board had failedHe took all of the
proper steps to test all of the functions and verify that the defrost control was not performing as designedA defrost controller performs several functions to properly do its jobUpon review with the technician, we have determined that the diagnosis is correctOur Technical Services Manager verified this personally when he was on siteAt Mr*** request our Technical Services Manager made a visit, at no chargeHe discovered that the refrigerant level in the system is low, alsoBoth of these problems can imitate the otherBoth will cause poor performance of the heating systemAnd, both of them can exist at the same timeThe diagnosis of the system was not continued to discover that there was a problem in addition to the bad defrost controllerWhen a system has a low refrigerant level, it is impossible to know exactly how much low it isThe amount can only be precisely determined by running the system with gauges in place and adding refrigerant until the pressure and temperature readings are exactly correct according to the specifications for the particular heat pumpWhile the refrigerant is being added, it is being weighedOnce the desired level is reached, the precise weight is known alsoOnce we know the exact weight, we will also know the exact priceAny estimate of the amount of refrigerant needed before this process is done, is just that, an estimateWe will always estimate on the high side, providing a worst case priceThe actual price will nearly always be lowerSince Mr*** was not satisfied that we had done a correct diagnosis, we have refunded the amount that he paidWe will not be able to refund the cost of the part that Mr*** purchased from a different supplierIf he had purchased it from AirCo we could have refunded the full priceThe diagnosis is correct, Mr*** declined the repairWe respect his prerogative to do soThat is the purpose of informing clients in advance of doing repairs what the cost of those repairs will beAs you can see, a great deal of expertise is required to properly diagnose, replace parts, verify and adjust refrigerant levels and test a heat pump systemAs verified by our thousands of satisfied customers, our prices are fair and service is more than satisfactory

I am rejecting this response because:When the original technician came out, he did connect his gauges to my system and he specifically said that aside from the defrost control board, everything else was working perfectly.  The original technician quoted $485 to replace a $40 part that took me 5 minutes to change myself.  When his supervisor came out he quoted $300-$400 to add refrigerant.  This company is doing everything they could to get $400 out of me.
