Air Exchange Family A/C & Heating Reviews (1)

Review: My 82 year old grandmother's air conditioner went out. After a recommendation of a friend who initially contacted Air Exchange Family A/C & Heating LLC they came out to repair her a/c. On, July 13th they showed up and after a diagnostic said that the motor was bad so he would have to replace that to see what else was wrong. He said there was a leak in the a-coil and that it was out of freon. He recommended that we replace the whole system, for a couple grand. That was out of my grandmother's budget so the decision was made to make some repairs to get her running. He was adding a little freon at a time due to the leak. My grandmother said she wanted him to fill it up so he did. She wrote a check for $650 on 7/13 for the motor, freon, and labor. Afterwards I contacted a home warranty service to make sure there would be no additional out of pocket costs.

On 8/29 her a/c stopping working again and since Air Exchange Family A/C & Heating LLC never stating anything about warranting their work, we contacted the home warranty service. They sent a repair man who stated that the motor was burned out and he would have to replace it. He also mentioned that it may have been installed incorrectly. I contacted Air Exchange Family A/C & Heating LLC to inform them of the issue and they said they would come by. I told him that I already had a repair man there. Air Exchange Family A/C & Heating LLC came by spoke with the repair man from the home warranty service and the repair man told him that he replaced the motor and threw the old motor in the garbage. The repair man from Air Exchange Family A/C & Heating LLC got the bad motor and offered to send my grandmother a check for the $60 deductible for the service call.

I believe that my grandmother was overcharged in the first place but that service should have come with some type of warranty. If a brand new motor needs to be replaced in less than 60 days there is something wrong. Also, if you are a trained professional why would you put 6 lbs of freon in an a/c system that you know has a leak.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the repair of the motor on 7/13. The motor burned out for whatever reason, but it went out in less than 60 days. Additionally, they have the original part for return or replacement.
