The water heater quit working and I placed a claim with the insurance company on Sunday night. On Monday I got call from Air&Water Factor that a plumber will come to my house on Tuesday. Didn't take much time to the plumber to figure out what was wrong with the heater and he was on phone with the insurance company. It turned out the heater was still under manufacturer's warranty so Daniel was again on the phone speaking with AO Smith and at the end he got authorization for replacement of the heater. He drove to the nearest dealer of AO Smith with the old heater and brought back brand new one that was lead free. Then he installed the new heater and voila we had hot water again. My wife was especially happy that we didn't have to wait another day without hot water.

Review: I had problems with my AC not cooling in the Spring/Summer of 2014. I found Air Factor's phone number on [redacted] website. A technician came, looked @ everything for a long time, used some colorant in order to find if my AC had a leak. He came back a few days later and declared -although he had to refill the AC with coolant- that there was NO leak. He said that perhaps the technician from another Company who came in 2013 let the coolant out by accident: I learned yesterday that is not possible. This year, I had no AC and decided to call another contractor. A technician came yesterday 4/28, took AC apart and showed me pictures he had taken with his phone. There was coolant all over -except where needed- as his "leak tester" had shown. He refilled the AC, the cost of that will be deducted from the cost of a new AC, so I can be "cool" until the new one is installed. Someone from that company -Howard Air- is coming Friday 5/1 to give me a precise estimate. Needless to say I am quite unhappy (to say the least) with Air Factor who did not find the leak BECAUSE the technician didn't look far enough! The coolant he had put in lasted until 8/24/14 when I left for Europe; upon my return on 10/12/14 I no longer needed AC so it just kept on leaking coolant without my being able to notice the fact that I was not able to cool my home until this past week or so, when I tried and the AC kept running but NOT doing its job the temp stayed for a couple of hours @ 79/80 degrees...the only profit was for [redacted]! To make a long story short, I wrote a check for over $500 for no reason! I feel like I was had as the technician from Air Factor should have found the leak that was already there! I will certainly never recommend that company to anyone!Desired Settlement: I would appreciate a partial refund from this company as I believe the work performed was incomplete -even though it took a long time- as the leak that was obviously there was not found. The technician obviously misdiagnose WHY the AC was cooling my home. He used the colorant but then probably should have dug deeper to find what the matter really was. Over $500 is a lot of money to pay for a problem that was not detected nor fixed! I am willing to pay the cost of the coolant and the time it took the technician to fill the AC with it...the rest of his time was just frosting on the cake and I am not willing to pay for it!

Review: Hired company to repair A/C unit for my investment property. I have asked them to provide me with W-9 so I can file 1099 with [redacted]. This is required by [redacted] and due by January 31st which requires me to send 1099 to all independent contractors that provide service for anything that is $600 or more. They are not providing me with the required W-9 so I can file the necessary papers with [redacted]. Not sure why they are not providing it unless they are trying to hide income from [redacted] because they do not want me to report the amount to [redacted].

I had other issue with the repair they did but will not go into it. All I want is to get the W9 form so I can file 1099's on time.Desired Settlement: I want the required W-9 form they are supposed to provide for work done

On October 17, 2014 [redacted] Factor came to my house to perform a tune up on my AC to get it ready for Winter. When the technician was finished, he had a list of items wrong with my unit. One of the many items he felt I should take care of was my capacitor that he explained could go out at any moment.(Recommended it runs at 60, mine was running at 6.4) He explained it could go out tomorrow, in a week, month, etc. but it should get replaced. Total cost to replace it was $238.16. I told him I would wait at this time. Thank you for letting me know and it is something we will take care of. I signed off on the paperwork and he went back onto my roof to close everything up. The next thing I know he comes back down telling me it went out and my AC is not working! He also told me that he wouldn't be able to get the part until Monday (It's now 5:00pm on Friday) I was dumbfounded, couldn't believe what had just happened and was trying to figure out what to do all weekend being I am 8 months pregnant and have 2 small boys at home.
I sent a request to my home warranty to have someone come check and fix my AC. On Monday, a different company came to fix my AC. When this company came he went on the roof, was up there for less than 10 minutes, came down and asked if someone had recently been out. I briefly explained to him that I had someone come out for a tune up to get it ready for Winter. He told me that the POWER WAS SHUT OFF FROM THE DISCONNECT TO THE UNIT!!!! I couldn't believe that I suffered all weekend with no AC and it was all because the previous Tech turned it OFF! I couldn't believe it. He went back up to check and make sure everything else was ok and it was. $60 later all he had to do was simply turn the power back on.
I called and talked to the owner of [redacted] and[redacted] and explained what happened. He was polite and apologetic, but was defending his tech. He was trying to explain that he may have turned it off so it wouldn't burn out and I would have more of an expense to replace it. I understood his argument but it didn't make sense. Why wouldn't the tech have told me that HE turned it off? Why would the tech try and sell me a capacitor for $238 that wouldn't be in til Monday if he just simply turned it off.
We pretty much agreed to disagree and he did offer to send me a check to cover the $60 I was out of pocket for the other company to come and turn the power back on.
Being a loyal customer to Air Factor for the past 12 years. (Had 2 units replaced and numerous service calls) I was extremely disappointed and felt that I was taken for.
