Air Masters Inc. Reviews (4)

I would highly recommend this company to people The owner himself came out to our home to diagnose a problem we were having with our heating system It took him one hour to find AND fix the problem Even though MrStover knew we would not be doing any costly work through his company since we are only renters, he still took time out of his day to speak with us about things we needed to have our landlord do in order for our system to function more efficiently I believe he runs his business with honesty and integrityI would do business with this company again in the future, and I will definitely be recommending him to others as well

This company was contacted by the buyer for my house in Tulsa to check for gas leaks as allegedly found by the home inspector and not found by the company I hired to checkThe report from this company starts out saying that no leaks were found, but then mentioned checking for COleaks and recommending a new furnaceThe issue is with CO, NOT CO(Carbon monoxide vs carbon dioxide)
When I called to get a bid for something else the inspector found, I had a hard time getting through to the person answering the phone as to what I was wanting as she kept trying to sell me a new furnace
Would not use this company again and would not recommend them

Review: They put a heating system in and it doesn't work. They told me because it'ts to cold outDesired Settlement: so far none

Review: We have made numerous attempts to contact the owner, [redacted], and have spoken with [redacted], the office manager, on a number of occasions but have not heard from [redacted] for over eight months regarding the work he began and agreed to complete 17th months ago in January of 2012 for Brace Enterprises at our residence located at [redacted]. We know Air Masters believes that Brace Enterprises still owes them money and we believe Air Master's still owe us work. We want to have a conversation with them so we can figure out how to settle this amicably and resolve our obligations to each other. There were several items from the contract with Brace Enterprises that have not been completed, even after they were given ample notice and opportunity to complete. These have been completed by either Brace or ourselves, using other contractors, and Brace is deducting from what is owed to Air Masters , as we have paid others out of pocket for these costs. 1. DOB Inspection exception re HVAC steel dunnage. The expediter, [redacted], of Resolution Expediting, informed everyone that during the DOB inspection on 10/**/2012: "The plan examiner noted that the dunnage on the roof is rusting. He is not requiring replacement of dunnage however is suggesting replacement of dunnage." Brace Enterprises consulted with the expediter and the Architect, [redacted] (seeing as Air Masters would not return calls) and decided that the dunnage did not need to be replaced if the proper cleaning and protection was performed to the steel beams supporting the roof HVAC. The repairs cost $634.00. 2. Waterproofing of HVAC duct work. On 10/**/2012 a water leak came through the ceiling in the master bedroom and master bathroom. Brace immediately brought Riverside General Contractor on-site to perform any necessary repairs. They assessed that the exterior HVAC duct joints were not properly waterproofed and water was coming into the house through them when it rained. They performed waterproofing (KEMPER SYSTEM). They charged $1,500.00. 3. Fireplace: the fireplace was not working so we had [redacted] of [redacted] NY complete the job on 12/**/2012. They assessed that the green control box had been wired incorrectly and the remote control unit was plugged into the power inlet by mistake. They charged $244.97 to fix it. 4. Kitchen stove exhaust fan: originally we were planning on installing the recommended external wolf exhaust fan to go with the wolf range/grill/griddle and wolf hood we purchased. Air Masters convinced us to go with the Greenheck sidewall exhaust fan instead. First they failed to deliver it on-time (it arrived six weeks after we moved in) and after they installed it, it never worked properly. After notifying them of the problem and hearing back from them that you were too busy with Hurricane Sandy related work to complete our job we asked a Wolf authorized service organization, GA Service, to come do an assessment. See attached service invoice notes stating that the Greenheck was underpowered and needed to be replaced. We hired Pinnacle Home Improvement, Inc to remove the Greenheck, patch the external wall as well as to install the new Wolf blower that we purchased which included redoing the ductwork above the hood. They charged us $500 for the removal of the Greenheck, which Brace will charge to Air Masters, and we paid them directly for the installation of the Wolf blower. We will make the Greenheck available for Air Masters to pick up once we have resolved all open issues. Consequently, we have removed the entire line item of the blower from the contract with Air MAsters ($975) and charged them for the cost of removal (-$500) which would not have been incurred if they had completed the job themselves. 5. Air Masters failed to register the three HVAC units with Trane as is required to get the extended warranty. Luckily we were able to register the units ourselves with Trane a few days before we would not have been able to do it at all based on duration after installation date. There are several items that have still not been completed: 6. Electrostatic filters: they still have not installed the electrostatic filters that are in the contract. 7. We never received manuals for our system or instructions for care and maintenance of the system, including instructions on cleaning the filters, maintaining the Clean Effects Air Cleaner, etc. 8. There is a [redacted] that was never installed on the humidifier in the cellar unit so we are unable to adjust the settings appropriately. 9. In addition to the Heatilator remote control for the fireplace, there was supposed to be a wired on/off switch installed in the bookshelf. This was never completed so the only way we have to control the heatilator is the remote control which could be dangerous if the batteries die while it is on. 10. [redacted] repeatedly assured us that he would provide as-built drawings for the system as we discussed with him before selecting Air Masters for our project. At his request, we emailed blank plans to him several times in addition to giving them to him when he was on-site but never received as-builts. 11. They need to sign the Brace Enterprises, LLC “Subcontractor’s Final Payment Waiver and Release” to be signed and returned.Desired Settlement: If they do take care of the six unfinished items above, we will return the uninstalled Greenheck external blower to them and Brace will pay them $262.00 based on the accounting below: Original contract remainder $4,070 Dunnage repair / waterproofing -2,088 Fireplace installation -245 Remove delivery and installation of kitchen exhaust fan from contract -975 Removal of non-working greenheck fan -500 Total $262 At this point they simply will not return calls and we are only looking for an amicable way to resolve our obligations to each other.

Business

Response:

Dear [redacted]:

Attached please find a copy of the contract with [redacted]. Air Masters Inc. did not work directly for [redacted] or [redacted]. Unfortunatly they had a problem with their contractor and the job extended much longer then they had anticipated and are now trying to blame Air Masters for mistakes that were made by their contractor. Also money was left with the contractor to complete the following work:

1. Waterproofing on the roof was the responsibility of the contractor as laid out in our proposal.

2. They agreed on the kitchen exhaust fan so if they changed their minds about which fan they wanted they cannot back charge Air Masters. The electrician they hired did not wire it correctly resulting in the fan not working correctly.

3. The fireplace was wired wrong by their electrician. I also advised them to get the manufacturer's service technician to fix it. As slated in my contract Air Masters was not responsible for any electrical wiring.

4. We never said that we are doing as builts. That would have been an additional charge.

Air Masters left $4,000.00 for the homeowners’ to complete the work. At one point the contractor was non-existent. Air Masters did not want to work directly for the homeowner. The homeowner contacted us after Hurricane Sandy and at that point Air Masters was only doing work for the NYC Rapid Repair Program. We were the largest heating contractor working seven (7) days a week to get people back into their homes and [redacted] could not understand why we did not have the time to go back and address the contractors short falls. We owe nothing to the [redacted] or [redacted] at this time and wish them the best.

Sincerely,

[redacted] President
