If you need car service in Shrewsbury, go to Meineke in Shrewsbury. My check engine light came on. I asked them to check it out and it turned out it was a bad gas cap. the owner was straight up with me that they could fix the issue (charge me for the cap and labor) or I could just drive over to the local Auto parts and pick up the cap for way cheaper. He told me what to get and boom. Saved me money.

Short story: I went to Meineke in Shrewsbury for state inspection and brake check. Inspection not done; they lost my registration and tried to rip me o on brakes.

Long story: I went to this Meineke early January 2017 for my annual state inspection and a brake check. The manager asked for payment for the inspection up front, and I paid in cash. I told him I would be unavailable to answer the phone for an hour during the time they were going to do the checks (I had a prior commitment), but that I would have voicemail and call back as soon as possible. Sure enough, during the hour I was unavailable, he called and left a voicemail telling me my brakes and rotors needed to be changed right away, that the cost was around $1250 but he could do it for $978.43. Before I had the chance to call back, he called again, and I told him I wasn't ready to do it today. He said I'd waited too long and that I was taking a chance, and that he was giving me a pretty good discount. I told him I wasn't ready and would go pick up my car.
When I got there, he rst handed me the wrong car keys. I asked about the inspection, since he had not mentioned it at all, and he said they couldn't do it because the VIN did not match the plates when scanned. He insisted it was an [redacted] problem and that I needed to go to the [redacted] to resolve that. So I asked for a refund for the inspection, and he said I hadn't paid him. I replied that I'd paid in cash and that he'd asked for payment up front, at which point he remembered and gave me the refund. I then asked for my registration back. He couldn't nd it, and asked another guy where it might be; he didn't know either. It was lost. In fairness, the manager did say that if I got charged by the [redacted] for a new copy, he'd take care of it.
I asked for an itemized quote with all the parts for my brake repair. He gave me one without any prices, but they were for front and rear rotors and ceramic pads (I have a Hyundai Elantra, not a sports car). I went to the [redacted] who could not gure out the issue either because all the numbers matched. I checked the VIN physically on my car and it matched too. All this time wasted because of Meineke's incompetence.
I went to a dierent, local auto repair shop a couple of weeks later. They did the inspection without any problems (because I was able to watch them do it this time, my guess is that the difference was in simply changing the category from PAN to PAV because I have a vanity plate). They also told me my front brakes were ne and my rear brake pads and rotors should be changed but it wasn't urgent. Completely opposite of the scare tactics Meineke tried to use. I gave them my business and they changed my rear brakes and rotors for a much more reasonable price.

Review: I have a contract with a company called total protect. I was having a problem with my air conditioning and they sent a service company to repair as it was under contract. I was told it was not covered and was routine service. the Coils needed to be cleaned. My wife who was there at the time was told it was a big job to clean the coils because of there location. The estimate was for between $800 and $1000 dollars. When my wife told me I said well if that is what it cost we have no choice. So I called total protect. Because it was during a very ot spell the original company could not come out so Total protect called another contractor who said they would clean all 4 coils for $600 dollars cash only. I agreed. When they came the worker named [redacted] Demanded his $600 cash despite the fact that the air conditioning was still not working and he only spent a little over an hour cleaning the coils. I told [redacted] the airconditioner was still not working and could not understand how it was possible for him to clean 4 coils when the the other company had said it would take 6 to 8 hours for the cleaning. That is why they were charging so much. [redacted] then becamse violent and assulted me in front of my family. I called Total protect and they told me to pay him they would send a second company to check the work. So I paid [redacted] 600 dollars cash. Total protect sent another company to check the work. Only 2 coils had been cleaned. Air rite wanted proff so pictures of the uncleaned coils were taken and submitted to air rite and Total prorect. I was told repeatedlly I would receive a partial refund of $300 dollars for the 2 coils that wee not cleaned . It has been a month and a half and I still have not beeen reimbursed. When I call the [redacted] he simply hangs up on me. Thank you for you help in this matter. I can be reached at ###-###-#### to answer any questions. Thank you

Review: we use this company from our home warranty company.. when we bought the house the unit was old and worn,, it stopped working and we called this company and Vincent came out to help us.. after inspecting the system he said that we needed a new system.. we purchased one which cost over $6400.00.. so this year we have been using the system and it hasn't been performing like it should with regards to air or heat.. I called [redacted] and when they came out they said that the unit was installed WRONG, the base of the unit is a different size from the coil unit.. (which means they altered it). [redacted] said that what they had left us with was and is a safety hazard which can leak out carbon monoxide. We have called Vincent to come out and tell us what the heck is going on and no reply from him or anybody else at this company.. I am so at a lost as to what to do because we just don't have that type of money to be giving away for out home.. We desperately need help and answers.Desired Settlement: either to replace the unit and fix it PROPERLY OR refund the money..

Review: We had several bad experiences with Air Rite Heating and Cooling. Our two outdoor units were cleaned two days prior to Air Rite Cooling and Heating, however , we were told by the technician that it needed to be cleaned again and the condenser unit would need to be replaced. Trusting that the company was ethical, we agreed to the services for $500.00 (which is excessive for a cleaning). Once the condenser unit arrived on [redacted] as confirmed with the business and insurance company, we scheduled an appointment for 2:00PM on Sunday, [redacted] They did not arrive at our home until 7:00PM after multiple phone calls and excuses, stating that they thought we were supposed to call to confirm the 2:00PM appointment, and it was a "misunderstanding". They also said the new condenser was not received even though the business and insurance company confirmed it was delivered. At that point, about 5:00 PM, they told us they were in White Plains, which is about less than 20 minutes from our house. They also told us they did not want to come until the sun went down even though the initial appointment was made for 2:00PM. We thought the $500.00 we had already paid would count against the $646.00 total that Air Rite told us we owed them the second time they came to service our unit (the $500.00 was for cleaning the unit). According to the Air Rite technicians, this new $646.00 charge was also to clean the unit unit insided. The service provider refused to come to our home until we had the full amount in cash and was very rude and unable to communicate. Every time we had a specific question, he became visibly and audibly frustrated, often snapping, and once hanging up on me after a disagreement. We were told that the procedure would take approximately 2.5 hours, which from 7:00 PM, would have been 9:30PM. It wasn't until 11:45PM that the service was complete. At that point, my son went to ask one technician what he was doing and what was taking so long. He yelled at my son, using strong profanities and ignoring his question, saying that my son scared him by sneaking up behind him. He continued to use profane language, and as my son asked him to stop being rude, the technician replied, "You don't control my mouth." He proceeded into his van and left, without a single acknowledgement or explanation of what he was doing.Desired Settlement: We want the double-charges refunded for cleaning the outdoor units multiple times.
