We have received and reviewed the complaint on the subject propertyAll the time references are correct to the best of my knowledgeHowever, we maintain that the complaint is fallacious because, as we explained on two separate visits to the site, the water appears to have entered the building at the point of an ice dam at the roof edge, behind the gutter. This winter season brought a record number of ice dam situations and subsequent water damage in buildings all over the northeastThe complaint stated that the water entered the wall cavities through holes that we had drilled in the outside sheathing; that would be virtually impossible since water does not flow uphillWe sent two representatives from our company (including one of the owners) to the house, and they discovered that someone had already removed the plaster and the insulation from the wall sections in questionWe also observed, and took pictures of, the two exposed bays as well as the ice dam on the roof/gutter with the water and ice backing up at the top of the gutter and running down the fascia, soffit and sidingThis is further evidence that the water found its way into the house at a level above the holes drilled two to three feet below. The work we performed on this building was done in compliance with the [redacted] , which Conservation Services Group delivers on behalf of the consumersCSG has inspected and accepted the work, and we respectfully suggest that the homeowners file a claim with their insurance company as a remedy for this unfortunate occurrence

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. Please add your rejection comments below. Please find Attached the pictures of the leakage from the insulation points starting on the week of February 14th....as you can see, the leaks are at the exact drill points from the insulation company. If the ice dams are a causing factor, why would the soaked areas be at the same locations?Removal of the wet/soaked insulation materials and wall (afterwards) is irrelevant....but if you must know, it was necessary due to the bad odor and mold risk. I have a 1 year old toddler that sleeps in that bedroom and his safety was a major factor.

A couple of weeks after I contacted Revdex.com, the owner of Air Tight Weatherization called me and asked about the issue.  After I described it to him, he apologized and seemed genuinely concerned about the lack of communication.  Shortly after that call, [redacted] called to apologize and set up a...

time to come to the house.  He arrived with two crew members, who went onto the roof to check the installation of the vent.  They found it to be properly installed and talked about the problem.  Basically, [redacted] said that he hadn't intended to mislead me but the mushroom vents can leak if the wind conditions are just right, as they were for many of the snow storms we had last winter.  Unfortunately, that's blood under the bridge, but I would not have installed the vents if he had made that clear before installation. [redacted] offered to send a crew to take up the part of the attic floor where the leak occurred to make sure there was no mold or mildew damage.  Although it took a while for that to happen, it did happen, and there was no damage.  So the matter has been resolved.  During the entire process, I was again struck by how pleasant all the people at Weatherization are--[redacted] and each of the several crew members whom I met.  I wish there were a solution to the problem the vents pose, but it seems that we will have to use plastic containers to catch the snow (or rain) that blows in during future storms. I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does satisfy my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint #[redacted].
