Airbase Carpet and Tile Mart Reviews (4)

We had a very expensive floor installed which buckled within 30 days after installation. Installer said we had a moisture issue under our house, so we had our crawlspace encapsulated. However, a moisture reading was done when they installed the flooring, and it was fine, also our subflooring had no evidence of moisture. Several contractors have looked at our floor and have all agreed that it was installed properly. The original installer was to come back and repair the floor, but has completely avoided us. It has been almost a year, Airbase will do absolutely nothing to help us, and now we have the expense of having our floor redone due to the negligence of the company.

On 1/25/14 [redacted] put down a deposit to have his beach house measured for a tile backsplash. An installer measured the area, and our customer service office quoted a total of $111.4.50. The quote covered providing the product and installing it. The customer agreed to this price and the...

installation was scheduled for 4/ 12/14.
[redacted] had previously had tile installed at a different address and requested that same installer for this installation. However , the original installer refused to work with this customer again due to their excessive demands and their touching and altering his work when he was out to lunch,.
Therefore, we scheduled this beach house installation with a different installer, [redacted].[redacted] has over fifteen years experience installing tile and is more than qualified to do the installation. [redacted] was sent to the home on 4/12/14 to install the tile backsplash. [redacted] had the same p[redacted]lems with this customer as the installer that did their first job .They touched and moved his tile placement when he went to lunch. Despite his issues with the customer, he was able to install all of the tile. The edges of the installation were to be finished with a coordinating color caulk. Unfortunately, our warehouse loaded [redacted] with the incorrect color caulk for this job. [redacted] explained this to the customer and left the backsp1ash complete except the caulking of the edge. He planned on retoming at a convenient time for the [redacted]'s to trim the edge with caulk. [redacted] took pictures of the installation to show our installation manager, [redacted], that the job was 99%.complete. It
just needed the caulking to finish the edge. The pictures will show the job only needed the edges caulked to be completed.
[redacted] spoke with [redacted] on the phone on 4/14/14 to schedule [redacted] to complete the caulking. Due to the customer's busy work schedule, they decided on 5/3/14 to complete the caulking. [redacted] thought the first installer would have done a better job and demanded we send him to complete the caulking instead of [redacted]. [redacted] informed [redacted] that [redacted] has to complete the job he started, and inviewing the picture of the backsplash, he thought it looked great. [redacted] still insisted we send the first installer and eventually hung up on [redacted]. Because of this, the installation was never scheduled to be finished.
After this, [redacted] received all communication via email and fax only from the . customer. They were very inconsiderate, and insisted we replace the entire job. [redacted] tried to go to the home himself to inspect backsplash, but it kept getting pushed off by the customer. [redacted] wanted to inspect the backsplash himself to make sure all complaints would be taken care of when the installer went out to finish the job . Due to the customer's busy work schedule and health issues, it was very hard to coordinate a time to do this. Despite our efforts to complete the installation, which was 99% complete, the customer demanded we no longer communicate with them or it would be considered harassment. At this point there was nothing we could do to try and complete the installation. The customer needs to allow an installer to complete the job to.their satisfaction.
We have been inbusiness over 47 years and it is imperative that we continue to take care of our customers. We are very concerned that we have not been able to finish the installation and make Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] happy. We are willing to send out a tile professional to finish the job at the [redacted]'s earliest convenience. Per the customer's request, jt will not be [redacted],but it will be someone who is neat and organized

The vinyl flooring was scratched when installed. The company refused to fix it. Refused to help us in any way. Paid top dollar and highly dissatisfied. Kevin K. was no help at all. Very upsetting the company does not stand by the work.

Review: We both purchased tile & supplies and we hired Airbase Carpet & Tile to install a tile backsplash in our kitchen. The work is a disgrace. Tile is crooked, grout lines are uneven and the two corners are a mess of too much grout. We have complained to their Install Manager [redacted] who is arguemenative and his only interest is that we "pay his installer". My husband and I both work Monday-Saturday. We agreed on a date of Saturday, 5/3 and we took off work to be there. He agreed to have an installer there on 5/3, then a week before denied having made the appointment. My husbands was there and no one from Airbase showed up. He's insisting on another date (5/10) even though we have told him repeatedly that we work Monday-Saturday. We've sent him photos which he says "he cannt open". Our home was uninhabitable after Super Storm Sandy and the tile backsplash is the last work we need to have completed. We are driving 90 minutes each way from our job & full time home to meet installers that do not show up.

We need this work corrected and completed as contracted, neatly and professionally, so we can pay and move on.Desired Settlement: Send a "professional" installer such as [redacted] (who did beautiful work for us before) to repair/replace and finish this tile work. Credit us $50. per each one-way trip for travel expense 5/3 and new repair date. Send professional installer with all materials; tiles, thin-set, adhesive, quick-set, grout, caulk etc.. We do not want Robert the installer who with the help of his girlfriend, did such a poor quality job the first time.

This needs to be done quickly as we have been told by another tile company that the longer you wait to remove and replace tile the more damage you will do to your sheetrock. Since the house has all new sheetrock, we are not looking to need to replace that again.
