Airport Car Rental Reviews (16)

Hello,I am writing to let it be confirmed that I have received a refund from the rental company for which I issued this complaint.  I accept that refund as closure to the matter [financially]."It is not only a matter of a financial refund that was and still remains the basis of my...

complaint.  The manner in which business operates and their customers are treated is simply unacceptable by even the lowest of standards.  I say this with the deepest of conviction as I have never been treated so poorly by any business in my 52 years of life.  Born in 1962 and growing up in the south and mid-west, I have been called the "N" word at businesses and left feeling more human [and acknowledged] than this experience.  I am surprised that a business such as this is allowed to operate or how the owners can boast that they have been in business for 15 years or more.  For me, I will recommend whenever I can that everyone stay as far from this place as possible.  It is insulting, humiliating, and degrading to find yourself in a position [in this day and age] to [have to] interact with such "unprofessional" people.  From the number of calls that are simply hung up when you ask for your money which is due, to the changing stories of policy depending on who answers the phone, to the unexplained and unwritten rules, this place is my number one pick for the worst business ever.[redacted]

Review: I rented a car from this joke of a dealership back on Oct 16, 2014 I was told that due to using a debit card they would place a $500 hold on my card that would be released when I brought car back. Car was returned on Monday Oct 20th we inspected car everything looked good they told me they would release hold and I would see in a about 3 business days. The company didn't just put a hold on my card they actually charged my card $500. I waited 5 days until Friday the 24th then called asking where my $500 was and why it wasn't back on my card. They told me it actually took about a week so they would process it by Monday the 27th. Still no money so I called and they said oh they process it Monday the 27th it will be in my acct the 28th. Called the 28th when no money still shows up in my acct. the lady then tells me that they only process these releases on the 1st and 15th of the month so I would have to wait. I got out my paperwork last night and read everything that said 3-5 days so I called again today now that it has been 10 days and she screamed at me and hung up on me, she is the assistant manager. I told her I wanted my money they cant just hold it indefinitely. She said shes going to wait 2-3 weeks now to see if I got a ticket or any fine. Every time I have called I get a different story. I went over this when I rented vehicle and when it was returned. If I had known how this would be I would have never gone through this company. I want my money back asap. Also They rented me a 9 year old car that was falling apart. It was dented, the seats were torn, the window had so much film I couldn't see out clearly, it was filthy and old. This place should not be in business!!!Desired Settlement: I want my $500 returned to my card! This was supposed to be a hold not a charge and was supposed to be returned within 3-5 business days!

Review: We rented a car for a week from this company. They had told us at the time of the rental that they would be taking out $500 as an assurance that we would return the car on top of the rental amount for the week of the rental. We returned the car on May 11th, two days early and it is now May 31st and the $500 that they promised would be returned to our bank account upon return of the vehicle has not been deposited back into our bank account. We have called this business numerous times, put on hold, told that our money would be in our bank "at the end of the day", "in two days", " at the end of the week". We understand that this is not a lot of money but it is our money. We paid for the week rental of the car and now they are essentially stealing from us. The manager is no longer taking our calls since they have caller ID and our number shows up as an 808 number. We have contacted the police but we have been told that this is a civil matter not crimminal. We have contacted our bank and hopefully will dispute the charge. This is completely unacceptable for a company to be doing this. I have never dealt with a company that would not give back money that is due to us.Desired Settlement: We want our $500 dollars back! They are no longer taking our phone calls and now are being rude every time we call them for OUR money!

Review: LOn Saturday 12/20/14, I rented a vehicle from Airport at [redacted]. San Diego [redacted]. I originally rented a [redacted] and I was going to keep it for one week, until 12/27/14. I was charged the $265/weekly rate and a $300 deposit was placed on my [redacted] Rewards credit card. I declined the vehicle damage waiver. I returned the Chevy the next day because I noticed that the tags were expired and one of the headlights was blown. I ended up taking a [redacted] off the lot. I returned the car on Saturday 12/27/14. [redacted] did the inspection and pointed out a small crack on the windshield that I hadn't noticed before. He said it wasn't there when I drove off with the car. He wanted me to sign a paper acknowledging that I caused it but I refused to sign. He said someone would be in contact. The next day 12/28/14 I went into the lot and spoke to the manager (forgot his name). He said he would get me an estimate by Monday 12/29/14 or Tuesday 12/30/14. He mentioned that since I'd used a credit card I had benefits and could probably file a claim with [redacted]. After not hearing from anyone I called Airport continuously with no success. Finally after getting tired of getting the run around I went into the lot AGAIN on 1/14/15. I discovered the windshield had already been fixed. By this point I'd already file a claim through [redacted]'s auto rental collision damage waiver program. At the lot, [redacted] had me talk to an employee, [redacted] aka [redacted] via telephone. I explained the list of items I needed to submit to [redacted]. She said she'd email me the documents. Later that afternoon she emailed me the documents but she did not include the actual invoice for the fixed windshield! On 1/28/15 she said she'd send the invoice that day but as of today she still hasn't sent it! All I got was a quote for $339.44 from a dealership and a letter from the car rental agency requesting payment of $404.44 for the damage and labor. I have been getting the run around, hung up on, and nothing but rudeness!Desired Settlement: Airport car rental agency has fraudulently charged my credit card $300 which was the deposit and it was unauthorized! I have tried working with them by calling them, emailing them, and trying to be reasonable but one can only take so much. I am tired of getting hung up on and tired of getting the run around. All I want is all of the documentation that I've requested, in a timely and efficient manner, so that I complete the claim process through [redacted]. I believe Airport simply wants to keep my deposit and have nothing else to do with me because that would be a lot easier for them. At this point, it's about the principle of the matter. I plan to pursue this matter in court if this isn't resolved soon! Just send me the documents I requested so you can be paid by [redacted] and I can get my $300 back!

Review: On December 26", the car did not start then after 100 calls the company answered and told me to take the car to Pep Boys, the car did not function, they said to come back for it on the following Monday, after deciding to taking it to San Diego, upon arriving we were received in an unwillingly manner and they did us the “favor” of exchanging the car for a more “newer” vehicle 2002, when they rented me a “2003”, I asked to speak to the manager and at all times I was denied to speak to the manager, they would constantly hang up on me over the phone or they plain would not answer, I am very frustrated with them. It's been since January 1” and they still have not returned the $388 reimbursement that I asked for, $91 dollars, supposedly they've done so already and it has been more than a week and my bank statement does not reflect a reimbursement, I’ve lost more money and went through a lot of displeasure because of their fault, my vacation that so much sacrifice to saved has turned into the worst. [redacted] always acted rude and ill mannered.Desired Settlement: A fair reimbursement, $388 of the deposit, $16 spent at Pep Boys and for the two days I did not use the car $37.5 x 2 =75

Review: Went to this car rental place on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 and the only car that they had was a beat up (with dents & scrathches) 2008 Chevy Aveo. It was not the car that I reserved online and after I drove the car for a day or two I attempted to turn on the air conditioning and it did not work so I called the car Rental place and they told me to come get a car that had air but it was 6:00 p.m. and they were closing so I had to get it on the 3rd day. When I arrived to get a different rental car they told me that they only had a 2000 Toyota Corola with bigger dents that the first car (a wreck) and the air was working on the car lot but after driving it for an hour it quit working. When I was at the rental place I was told that they don't open until 9:00 a.m every morning and I explained to them that my flight leaves at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday,July 28, 2015 and the company stated they would not be able to take me to the airport and that I would have to get a shuttle bus down the street from them and pay $35. I brought the car back and turned it in. Then I walked to another more established Car Rental place and rented a car so I would be able to get to the airport. Now I have a $500 charge on my credit card for what I don't know since they already charged me $108 for the car rental. I've called and they keep giving me the run-a-round and I still have the extra $500 charge on my credit card.Desired Settlement: I would like the $500 charge taken off my credit card

Review: After renting a 15 passenger van on Sunday morning (12/8/13) at 11 am, just before worship service, to take church members to Los Angeles immediately after 11:30 am worship service. The van was reserved on 11/11/13 and there were plenty of time for Airport Car Rental, Inc. to inspect their van before Dec. 8th.

After loading the van with church members and getting on the road to LA, it was discovered that the middle seat was lose and the women were moving back & forth at every stop and take off. Since it was too late to return the van, we proceeded with MUCH CAUTION! It was also discovered that over half of the seat belts DID NOT worked.

Monday morning before returning the van videos and photos were taken along with recording the vin and license plate numbers. During my inspection just before returning the van it was discovered that the seat did NOT have even one bolt in it. All of the bolts were missing from the entire seat which presented a much worse danger than previously thought.

All of this was reported to Airport Car Rental when the van was returned. They never accepted responsibility, never apologized and worst of all never said that they were going to fix the problem. In fact, they blamed me for removing all of the bolts, on my knees in my suit on Sunday Morning. This company has total disregard for human safety.Desired Settlement: That Airport Car Rental stop their unethical business practices and not rent that death trap of a van anymore.

Review: WE rented a car from Carrental.com In San Diego. Aplus Tuck & Car rental Inc (2008 India street San Diego,CA 92101 phone # ###-###-####)provided the car. The car was a Toyota Corolla (. The car had over 200000 miles.) Hub cap was missing break light did not work. Steering wheel was peeling. Airbag did not work. Front light did not work. We told the gentlemen that this car is dangerous we need an other car. He offered an other car and as soon as we started the car" service engine light" came up. WE asked for an other car he got upset and told us that these 2 cars are his best. We could not reach carrentals.com ( no phone number not listed). It was late we had no option. The owner also was rather rude telling us that he is holding up his business. He left us in the middle of the lot to drive to Pet boys to get a a light. He came back 30 minutes later replaced the front light but not the break light. When we asked what happens if the car breaks down he said there is always a Pet boys on the road. When we started driving the exhaust fume came into the passenger area so we had to drive with windows down. When it rained we could not drive the Windshield wiper did not work. How can a vehicle like this be on the road??? How a rental company can rent such an unsafe car ??? How a business like this can operate ????? We live in Pennsylvania a car like this will never pass inspection. This company is endangering life of the passengers and people on the road.Desired Settlement: The best outcome would be to monitor this company to make sure they use safe vehicles and these kind of cars would not be rented anymore. These cars should not be on the road. We also would like him to refund our money

In response to the above complaint Mr. [redacted] rented a vehicle from us for one week for the amount of $89.00 plus taxes. When he arrived to our office after been picked up from the SD Airport we had two vehicles available both of them were 2006 and 2007 Toyota Corolla's. He decided to rent our 2006 Toyota Corolla upon doing the inspection of the vehicle Mr. [redacted] noticed that one of the lights were not working the sales agent gave him two options either get the other Corolla or wait about 15 to 20 to have the light fix. Mr. [redacted] decided to wait for the new light bulb to get changed. We explained to Mr. [redacted] that we only carry "used quality cars" this is the reason he got the price of $89.00 for one week instead of $200.00 per week as the other rental companies that have new vehicles. We also told him that if he did not feel comfortable with renting our vehicle he did not have to rent it. It was his decision to rent it. After he left with the vehicle we never heard from him until 03/01/14 when he returned the vehicle. We have real simple policy if you are not happy with our vehicle bring it back and we will give you a different one. Upon return of the vehicle he did not notified us of any issues with the vehicle and proceeded with closing the contract and gave him a ride back to the SD airport. We are unable to refund Mr.[redacted] any monies at this time. This are facts pertaining to this compliant to the best of my knowledge. Thank you for your understanding.

Review: I booked a reservation through carrentals.com for July 23-25th. My travels plans changed last minute so I needed to change my reservation. I called them repeatedly on July 16th between the hours of 7-8:30 PM to revise the reservation and get a shuttle with no answer. I was forced to book another car rental company last minute at $130 per day when I was expecting to pay $76 for my entire trip.

I called again on July 23rd at 8:09 prior to my reserved time with no answer. I was finally able to get through to them at 8:58 on the 24th and they were not in the office so they could not tell me about order. They called me back to tell me that they were going to charge me $25 since I did not pick up my rental.

I do not deserve to pay this charge because of their lack in customer support.Desired Settlement: I want reimubursed for the $25 fee.

Review: On August 3, 2013, I rented a vehicle from the company's India Street location. They allowed me to pay what I believe was $25 in cash opposed to credit because it would be easier for them to process. They required me to provide my credit card but did not mention they would charge my account $300 as a hold. I brought the car back that same day. Days later I noticed that they indeed had used my debit card to deduct $300 from my account. I waited until the following week and the charge still had not been lifted. I contacted the business a total of four times. On every occasion they stated that my money would be refunded. Today is August 20th and I still have not received my money back. At this point, I do not believe this company has any intention of returning my money and they are basically stealing from me.Desired Settlement: I would appreciate my security deposit refunded asap. I would also hope that this business be investigated further as I've read a few other reviews and many have had the same experience that I have had.

Thank you. My complaint has finally been resolved. The business refunded my $300 albeit nearly 1 month later. I would hope this business would change its practices and policies in the future.

Review: There were 3 problems about my situation.

1. This car which I rented was faulty.

- This car has been launched on 2000. The oil started to leak without any accidents or collisions.

2. The registration of the care was expired on Oct, 2015.

- They rented this car to me illegally.

3. They didn't do anything to follow up.

- I did pay for the tow car. They didn't offer an alternative rental car, give any response to me even though I tried to call them lots of times.

I rented a mini van, Toyota Sienna, in this company on Dec 24th for 5 days. However, it was faulty.

When we were on the way to go to Grand Canyon, on the highway 40 between Yucca and Kingman, this car suddenly started to stop on the high way because the oil was leaking without any accidents or collisions. Fortunately, there was no car around us and I could park safely the car on the shoulder. It didn't work at all after parking it. When I tried to call this company to help me out, the thing that they let me know is just to call towing car and bring the car to the repair shop. I wanted to make sure whether they'll compensate all costs followed by towing and repairing before the car was towed away, But after that, they started to escape my calls or requests until NOW.

Moreover, when I was waiting for towing car, a patrol let me know that the registration of this car was expired on Oct, 2015. I realized why they didn't want me to make an insurance for this car when I rented the car.

I should change all plans for the trip. I called towing car, rented a new car paid by myself and stayed in unexpected place. After I came back to San Diego, Even though I tried to talk to them lots of times, they just escaped me and didn't do anything for compensating. The only thing I could do was to request for bank not to transfer rental deposit to the rental company.

For these reasons, I believe that I should receive refunds about all things from this company.Desired Settlement: I'd like to desire to get refunds regarding occurred all extra expenses from this company.

1. Rental fee : $650

2. Gas : $120.12

3. Rental Deposit : $600

4. Hotel fee : $112

5. New rental fee : $684.47 (from Bullhead city to San Diego)

Total : $2166.59

+ Mental damages

They advertised a car 10 years newer when I made the reservation then when I showed up to pick up the car everything in their lot was a clunker...

If I cancelled I still got charged and it was to late to make a reservation somewhere else at a decent price.

Then they charged me more for the car then the reservation because I wanted a car that ran.

Then when I tried to return the car they were never available during their advertised hours so I could return it forcing me to pay for days I did not want. I tried calling their numbers and was meet with rude and disrespectful comments and hung up on. Renting here will ruin your day and your vacation. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND RENT SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Review: I rented a car on 1/4/16 from this business at their [redacted] location and they wanted a $300 deposit for the car. I had to use 2 different cards for this. $200 on my card and $100 on my daughters card. I have not received to this day my deposit back. I have called 3 different times and each time I call I get a different answer. When I rented the car the man at the desk and I had a conversation where he said it would take 3-5 business days for the deposit to come back to us. When I checked my account the money was not returned. I called on 1/7/16 and a different man told me they only do returns on Fridays. He ask what kind of card I used and I let him know they were both debit cards. He then confirmed it would be Friday the 8th. I asked why I was not told that and he apologized and told me when should have been told the policy. I checked again on Monday the 11th and there was no money in my account. I called again today the 15th at 10:06am because I still have not seen any money and I was told I would be called back. I never received a call so I called again at 12:52pm. I was put on the phone with the man that first helped me, I asked where my money was and before I could say anything else he yelled at me and told me the money was going to be returned today the 15th. I tried to ask why I was told the money would come to me on the 8th and he just hung up on me. Furthermore, the car he gave us was a disaster. The blinkers did not work, which is unsafe and you could not travel over 60 miles per hour without the car making noise and shaking. Very dangerous when I have very small children in the car.Desired Settlement: I want my $300 back today! $200 of it is mine and $100 of it is my daughters. I want them to give me cash instead of trying to put it back on our cards. It has been 11 days since I have rented the car.

Review: I rented a 2001 Chrysler Prism from them for 2 weeks. I paid $740. w/ $500 cash deposit. I initially wanted to put the deposit on my debit card but, was strongly encouraged "it will take months for that to be credited back to your card. You're better off leaving a cash deposit." I was never told nor is it on the contract that there would be a delay in getting my $ returned or that it would be a check. The car was due at 9:00 am on Thursday 6/13/13. I brought it back on Weds. afternoon. Also, at no time was I told no smoking in the vehicle. This was a 12 year old 157319 miles very much used car. The ash tray was dirty. There were burn holes in the back seat. The headliner was torn up. I was told I'd receive my check in the mail w/ $40-$100 removed. Today is Friday, no check! This business has underhanded practices! I will never go back there. I want my $. They're crooks!Desired Settlement: I want my $500 I've paid them more than enough for the car they rented me. They have no right to withhold my deposit from me!

To whom it may concern;

Review: I rented a car for two weeks from this rental agency. I have returned the vehicle and was told I would receive my $300 deposit by the 1st of February 2015; I have not received anything. I have called the agency from my cell phone numerous time today and I have been hung up on each time. I called from my phone at work and I mysteriously received an answering machine in which I left a message. I would like to know what is going on exactly as they have not returned my phone call.Desired Settlement: There were already problems with the car (dents, check engine light, etc) in which I was told not to worry about (and this was noted on the body info sheet at the rental agency). I have a witness to that as well. I would just like my deposit back.

Review: "I rented a car at 3:45 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 with a cash deposit of $360.00 as I had lost my bank issued ATM and Budget and others won't rent without a major card or ATM with your name impressed and haven been issued by the bank. At 4:30 PM on Wednesday, I called after returning from the funeral that I attended in Indio to advise that I would be returning the car within the hour. To my shock, and employee [[redacted]] advises me that the car was due at 9:00 AM [i.e. roughly 17 hours after I picked it up] and that I was being charged $50.00 for a late fee, $70.00 [for an additional day], plus $140.00 for the extra mileage over the allowed 100 miles and finally $60.00 for the original "overnight" rental. For a total of $330.00 for the 1996 Honda Civic for the total of 27 hours rental.I took the car back immediately. [redacted] confirmed all that he had said on the phone. It was 5:05 PM. I left the car and ask for a detailed receipt and the balance of the deposit to be returned. [redacted] advised that if I gave him a credit card that it would refund me $39.00.I have called everyday since then trying to get resolution from [redacted] [manager] or [redacted] and neither seems to be available. I have spoken with female employee that advises that neither [redacted] nor [redacted] are in but the neither has the authority to refund a deposit. [redacted] was advised at the time of the rental that I would be traveling to Indio to attend a funeral to begin at 9:00 AM. Why would he have not said them that unless you return the car the minute we open it is late and we will charge you for another full day and a late fee? I would never have rented the car. Why would anyone rent with such rules and undisclosed details and complete nonsense? $330.00 for basically a one-day rental of a an 18 year car with 292,000 miles?Today, the latest claim is that no deposits are returned except for the 1st and the 15th.Desired Settlement: I rented the car for $60.00 for one full day. [24 hours]. Even with that, I was late getting back from the funeral by 1.5 hours so I suppose that late fee is in order but not reasonable. [$50.00]. The extra mileage cost was not disclosed but [OK] I cannot argue this. I drove 240 miles there and back. My deposit in cash was $360.00$360.00 Deposit -60.00 Rental [Regular] -50.00 Late Fee-140.00 Extra Mileage------------------------$110.00 Refund Due
