This customer first arrived at our dealership on May 12, to examine and then test drive one of our pre-owned vehicles for sale, a Roadtrek motor homeAfter a thorough demonstration, an offer to purchase and an RV loan application from the customer was accepted however at that time the sales manager was informed by the customer that completion of the sale was not possible because everything hinged on whether or not he (the customer) could successfully borrow the necessary down payment from his employerHe informed our staff that he would make an important telephone call and then let us knowAfter making a phone call and before leaving the dealership, he told the salesperson that his attempt to borrow the required down payment was unsuccessful and that he would try to come back again if and when he had the down payment to complete the transactionAt that time our salesperson recommended the customer leave a refundable deposit to hold the vehicle and begin the loan submittal process but instead was told by the customer that he would take his chances and if the subject vehicle was sold to someone else it would be okay At that time no further attempt to complete the transaction or hold the vehicle was made by the dealershipFour days later on May 16, the customer came back to the dealership with a bank cashier's check in the amount of $12, and was informed specifically by the salesperson and the sales manager on duty that his loan application would be sent to the bank(s) and we would contact him with results or if we had any further questions within a few daysUnfortunately after several attempts, the dealership was unable to secure acceptable financing for this customer and the original cashier's deposit check was returned to him immediately
