Airzone Systems Reviews (1)

I "inherited" Ray, the owner of AirZone, when I purchased my 3-level condo in 2001. Ray had installed an American Standard heat pump for the previous owners, and it was still under warranty. So, Ray came out every March to clean and service the unit, nimbly climbing an extra-tall ladder to a metal-sloped roof and onto a flat pad (he never complained, but I saw how difficult it was).

Ray frequently commented that the attic, which contained the air handler, was excessively hot, reducing the efficiency of the air conditioning system for the 3rd floor. In fact, I moved to a 2nd floor bedroom most summers because it just wouldn't cool down enough by the time I went to bed.

After about 8 years of this, the old unit was showing wear, and Ray was determined to make my home livable. He researched insulation options that would cool the attic down, and recommended a local company that could remove all of the loose fill insulation on the attic floor, followed by the spraying of thick foam insulation on the ceiling and walls of the attic (the roof is copper). My own research found this to be a great solution, and well worth the three days of ensuing mess and noise.

The resulting "cool" space in the attic gave Ray the opportunity to install two separate air handlers -- one for the 3rd floor and one for the 1st/2nd floors, each with separate controls. This required some pretty inventive ductwork installation on Ray's part to bring ducts from the attic, down the vertical corner of the 3rd floor loft and into the floor where it could hook up with existing ductwork from an old in-ceiling heat pump. He removed the latter, added some additional vents on each floor, and arranged for the installation of sheetrock to hide the ductwork coming down from the attic to the ceiling of the 2nd floor.

Once all was complete, I ended up with two American Standard heat pumps (19 SEER), two-stage, whisper quiet systems. Between the proper insulation of the attic and the efficient heat pumps, keeping my condo at 75 degrees in the summer was effortless. Not only could I sleep in my 3rd floor bedroom again, but each of my monthly electric bills were halved compared to the prior year.

Ray made my condo into a comfortable home. Ray continues to service my two heat pumps each spring, and delights in telling me how cool the attic is. Needless to say, I enthusiastically recommend the services provided by Ray and AirZone.
