Review: Failure to do promised repair. Did not show up after repeated promises. Company should change name to A & J Unreliable.Desired Settlement: Had another company take care of repair the same day I called them.

We did Mr. [redacted] roof in 1999. A & J Reliable at that time offered a 10 yr workmanship on new complete work as a courtesy to our customers. Mr. [redacted] called in for assistance with a sheathing nail that was causing an issue at his home. Our Rep went there on 9/**/13, evaluated the situation, understood what was needed to be done. Our Rep let Mr. [redacted] know since he was a past customer and even though his warranty had expired 4 years ago that we would do this repair at no charge. In addition that no one was needed to be home and we would leave a doorknocker (how we let customers know we were there). He was told that the job would be done the week of 9/**. It's horrible the customer felt this way even though the week was not over and the service was for free.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I believe the rep was actually here on Tuesday Sept. **th. He told me the repair would be taken care of by the end of the week, which would have been by Friday the **th. On Monday the **th, since no repairs were attempted by the **th, I called the office and was told that it would be done that day. It never happened. On Tuesday, Oct. [redacted], I again called the rep on his cell phone, and was again told that the repairs would be done by the "end of the day". Once again, nobody showed up. Although I originally called to get an estimate for the needed repair, and did expect to be charged for the work, I was surprised to hear that there would be no charge, an empty promise. I have since called another contractor who sent a repair person to my home within 2 hours of my initial call, and completed the necessary repair immediately. That's what I would call a reliable company.

At this point A & J Reliable is unsure how to resolve this issue with Mr. [redacted]. As a company it's embarrassing we have arrived at this point and can't find a solution. We work hard to meet the needs of all of our customers, if there was money to be returned.. we would have. If we caused the problem he was having,... we would do right by the customer take full responsibility and do whatever it takes to resolve it. In this particular situation there wasn't a contract or an obligation. We just tried to help.

Review: A & J Reliable placed a new roof on my home in the beginning of November 2014. When I received the initial estimate for the work to be done I was told by [redacted], that the cost to do the repair would come with a 10 year warranty for labor and 25 year warranty for the materials. The new roof was completed within two days on November *, 2014.

On April *, 2015 a number of the shingles came detached from the roof due to high winds. On April [redacted] I called the main office and two workers came out to my home to replace/repair the shingles within a week. However when they arrived they did not have any drip edge to complete the repairs. I was told by one of the workers that he would speak with [redacted] about the missing drip edge and come back within the next week and complete the work. Weeks went by without anyone coming out to complete the work or calling me with a new date when the repairs would be complete. I called the main office on May [redacted] and was told someone would call me back. I called again after not receiving a response on May [redacted]. I was told "[redacted]" needed to prepare a work order. I called again on June [redacted] and spoke with [redacted]. He told me the repairs would be done by Saturday June [redacted]. After a week and no one coming to complete the repairs I called [redacted] on June [redacted] and June [redacted]. Both times I left messages on his voice mail. Neither message has been returned.Desired Settlement: I would like the company to honor their word and have someone come out to complete the repairs as they indicated they would.

We will have our crew out tomorrow July [redacted] to complete needed repairs on the left side gable area. Review: I purchased 11 Gorell windows from A&J Reliable in the [redacted] of 2010. I noticed during the winter of 2012/2013 that one of the small windows, of the combination units, in my living room was failing!. Around [redacted] of 2013, I contacted Gorell by e-mail and was told that the company had reorganized and no longer would honor my guarantee. I then called A&J and talked to "[redacted]" and he assured me that I would be able to get the window repaired and he would talked care of it. I have called time and time again and finally in late[redacted], I went to the Spring Valley address and talked to "[redacted]" who assured me he would find out what was going on. I finally talked to [redacted] in early [redacted] and they were going to talk/meet with the Gorell Rep and they would order window. Well. it now [redacted], 2013 and I still have not had the window replaced or heard from A&J. I have called Spring Valley number and only an answering machine, have left messages, I called Ridgewood NJ number and again just machine answers, did not leave message. I am totally frustrated. What do I do next?Desired Settlement: Replace my failed window.
