AJI Tires Reviews (2)

Review: I have an all-wheel drive vehicle and needed to purchase a complete set of tires. I called AJI Tires and asked for a quote on 4 tires. The tires offered to me were given as Michelin A Plus tires; but in fact, were Chinese manufactured. Fee of $410 was for tires, balancing and mounting. The day I took my vehicle by for the tires, I was told that [redacted], the man that I had previously talked with, had been fired, but I was assured that I would be taken care of and that the price of the tires would be the $410 that he had quoted. I left my vehicle and told the office person to call me if there were any problems. Wheel lug attachment was provided by me to replace a broken stud, which should have taken only minimal time to insert, but I was charged $100 for 2 hours of labor. Sometime during this process the ABS sensor was damaged or broken, for which I was also charged $35 for a replacement. My complaint is that the stud was a simple fix, but I was charged an extra $100, plus the $35 for a sensor broken by the mechanic. Finally I was misled about the manufacturer of the tires. I tried on 2 occasions to contact the owner, Mike Inscore, and left a message that there was a problem, but he did not return my calls.Desired Settlement: I would like to have a refund of at least $75 on the labor charge; $35 on a part that was damaged by the mechanic, and $100 for the misrepresented tires that were of less quality than I expected from Michelin tires.

Hello,

Mrs.

[redacted] came to our shop on Wednesday 07/08/2015 and spoke to [redacted]

about the tires she had ordered. At that time she was informed the

tires had not came in yet and that [redacted] was no longer with the

company. She informed [redacted] that she had ordered four "Michelin

A Plus" tires in the size of 215/70/R16 and that a wheel lug

stud on the front driverside of her 2012 Honda CR-V AWD

needed to be replaced. [redacted] informed her that she would have them

put on for her once they came in and would call her to let her know

when the vehicle was ready. Upon checking the orders for that day it

was

discovered that the tires ordered were A Plus not Michelin. At this

time [redacted] did contact Mrs. [redacted] to let her know that the tires

were not the brand that she expected. Mrs. [redacted] told [redacted] that

she still wanted the tires even though they were A Plus instead of

Michelin.

With

this particular vehicle in order to change a wheel lug stud the whole

spindle assembly must be removed. Pictured below is the setup for

this vehicle.

As

you can see in this picture there is no easy access to the wheel lug

stud and several parts must come off in order to gain access. This

process takes time since you do not want any parts to break during

the repairs. Mrs. [redacted] was only charged for two hours

of labor when in fact it took longer to get the wheel lug

stud

replaced. In the process the ABS Sensor(Wheel Speed Sensor) had to be

disconnected and it did break. However,

these sensors tend to become brittle as a result of fatigue from road

vibration and/or steering maneuvers. The

ABS Sensor(Wheel Speed Sensor)

broke

as a

result of normal wear on

this part. The

mechanic took every percaution possible to prevent any parts from

breaking. Unfortunately,

due to the ABS Sensor(Wheel

Speed Sensor)

being brittle it

breaking was unavoidable.

The

owner never recieved any calls or messages from Mrs. [redacted]. We are

not sure what number she was calling or where she got it. Her calls

were

not recived and that is why he never returned the calls.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

On 07-08-15, I did leave my vehicle at AJI, trusting that I would be treated fairly and honestly. I was told that I would be taken care of. At that time, I asked to be called if there where any problems. Around 3:00 that afternoon I was called and told that the tires were being put on, but the mechanic was having a little trouble getting the broken stud out. There was no mention of any additional fees. At 4:50, I called the shop and was told that the mechanic was still working on my vehicle. At that point, I told the representative that I was on my way to pick up my vehicle; "put on the tire, leave the stud alone." When I arrived at the shop with my co-worker, I was then informed that the tires were not "Michelin" (no manufacturer was given) and that the stud had been removed and that the tire was being put on as we spoke. I was also informed that I was being charged for 2 hours labor ($100) and the ABS sensor ($35). I was speechless and so was my co-worker, since she had recommended AJI.I was unable to download the picture submitted, but I still feel strongly that I was treated unfairly, and did not know until I researched the tires, that they were Chinese manufactured. Consumer Reports does not even recommend Chinese manufactured tires. The representative told me that the owner come in after shop hours. I found his phone number on his web page. I called [redacted] on two occasions and left one message that there was a problem. The calls are still on my cell phone (07-10-15).I am definitely not pleased with the owners response.

Response:

I do apologize for

any inconvenience however [redacted] did make 100% Mrs. [redacted] was aware

that the tires were not "Michelin" and were in fact "A Plus" before work

even began on the vehicle. She was given the option of us returning

the tires since they were not what she was expecting. She advised

[redacted] that it would be fine and to go ahead and put the tires on.

We will refund her for the broken part in the amount of $35.00 even

though it broke due to normal wear and tear on the part. However the

labor charges for replacing the stud are valid. We did not break the

stud, it was already broken when the vehicle was brought to us and we

had to tie up our bay for most of the day in order to fix her

vehicle. We were more than fair with her on the labor charges since

we actually worked on it for longer than she was charged for.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find it not to be what I anticipated, but will accept. I would also like to clarify that I know that the stud was broken else- where and never accused AJI of that. I also called a Honda Dealership and spoke with a technician. The conversation indicated that the stud replacement could take an hour and the ABS sensor should not have broken, because of the age and mileage of the vehicle. "Wear and tear" should not have been an issue at this point and time. I am not one to complain, but RIGHT IS RIGHT AND WRONG IS WRONG. I have no intention of visiting this establishment again and will not recommend it to anyone. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Review: On december 28th, I called aji tire to inquire about 2 used tires. Let me begin by stating all of our vehicles have had service at aji since they opened. The man on duty that day told me they had 2 used tires that were passable in quality for state inspection..he did mention they didnt match, but that was not an issue. I paid 30 dollars each for the tires, which was fine also. The issue is one of the tires is one I had them replace on a different vehicle that I had told them would no longer hold air. I did not expect to recieve a bad tire I disposed of 2 weeks prior. This tire was flat before I had gotten home. The other tire is dangerously knotted, and unusable. So I called to issue a complaint, and their response was..."10-4" then hung up on me. I do not appreciate them willing to sacrifice my safety for 60 bucks..I will not be doing buisness an with them again.Desired Settlement: I dont want tn anything more from aji tires.

Business

Response:

I do apologize for the inconvenience however, we would have been happy to take a look at the tires for the customer had he been willing to cooperate with us. When the customer called in to issue his complaint he was verbally abusive and the representative did disconnect the call. We dispose of any and all tires that are left with us due to leaks or defects and do not put them on another vehicle.
