AJs Auto Clinic Reviews (1)

Review: I took my car to AJ's auto clinic to have the motor replaced. The mechanic told me the motor he would be using to replace my engine with. Was coming from Japan, but is stored in a warehouse in Texas. I asked [redacted], the mechanic what he was going to do with my original motor. He said that he had to send it back to the company, so that he wouldn't charged for the core charge.A few weeks after having my car back. I noticed that my car ran slower and rougher than before. I found out that it was burning excessive amounts of oil and consuming an excessive amount of gas also. About two weeks later, the engine started to make irregular tapping noises. So I brought it back to the mechanic. Later that week I went on craiglist to browse for parts for my car. I saw a post of a 350z engine for sale. In this post, there was a picture of my motor with my car in the background. The poster also claimed my car in the background to be his. All the info posted about the motor was false.I called back the mechanic a couple weeks after bringing my car to him. To ask the about the company that [redacted] had bought the motor from. The name of the company he gave me was K.Y. Nobi. Then he told me that the company doesnt actually order the motors and that they are just a subsidiary. I researched the company online. To find that the company doesn't exist.Everytime I ask fred what is the status of my car. He keeps telling me the motor has not arrived yet from the company. Finally [redacted] said, that he is just going to get a motor from the junk yard. But is still charging me $1500 for the labor, on top of the $4800 I already paid him for the previous engine replacement job.Desired Settlement: I want [redacted] to give me a full refund of all the money I gave him and my original motor back into my car, the way it was before I brought it to him. Or pay for the full cost of what needs to be done to my car at a different Auto shop, including towing and any other fees.

Business

Response:

In late December, early January, Mr. [redacted] inquired about an engine for his 03 Nissan 350Z. At that time I searched for prices with out seeing the car, I called four different suppliers: Soken Trade Corp, Japan Engine Inc., M&P Trade Inc., and Nippon Motors Inc., I found three engines. I gave him a price at the time which was around $5000 installed. The customer actually brought his car in late January for me to look at. There was not much wrong with his engine and I made this clear to him. He shrugged his shoulders and raised his arms and said, "I want another engine". February 20th he brought his car in. I asked him what was wrong with it. He said it was burning a little oil. I told him that is the nature of this engine, even the Infinity G35s burn oil. He replied, "replace it with a used engine" he was well aware that there is no labor warranty with anything used, when I called the four suppliers to order the engine they were sold out and not sure of when they would get another one. So I found an alternative, Allied Auto Wrecking, they were willing to give me a 6 month warranty on the engine. So I ordered it and installed it. It was a good running engine however, it burned excessive oil. He came back in July to replace the engine again. I honored the warranty on the engine however, it was clear that there was no labor warranty. Allied sent down four engines, the last one was good, the other three had issues. After he picked up the car he did not at all communicate with me to let me know how things were with the car. He had a balance of over $400 which he was supposed to pay by September 1st. September 12th he came in to pay the balance. I asked him how the engine the present engine was and he said "so far so good". As far as the towing is concerned. He has not had his car registered since March so he needed it towed. As far as the original engine, since there wasn't much wrong with it, it was a last minute decision to keep it and pay the core charge. My daughter drives the same car and my son reminded me of her driving habits, I agreed, paid the core charge and kept it. Sometime in April my daughter told me she wanted to get rid of her car. So I had no used for the engine. Since it was a difficult engine to find I figured I'd just sell it. I don't understand why he is complaining about the fact I kept the engine. He never asked to take the engine or pay the core charge on it. I did nothing illegal or immoral. If he had simply communicated with me the Revdex.com would not be involved nor would there be any serious issues.
