Review: Hello - I live in a condominium which I have purchased. AKAM Associates is the manager in charge of my building. I have a long (documented) history of this management company harassing me and unilaterally billing me for charges with no explanation usually months later without any other prior notice. When I try to deal with the company directly they always find some method by which not to rectify the problem & I have paid it off just for peace of mind to the tune of thousands of dollars. The latest fine I received was on my September HOA bill with no explanation. The fine was for $1,000.00. I was given no reason for the violation and had to contact the management company to find out the cause. I assumed the cause might be from a notice I received in the mail regarding smoking - I managed to disprove this was the case as I had proof that I was out of town in Hawaii at the time. Later, the management company sent me a picture of an umbrella resting in front of my door from June ** and said the violation was actually for that. I do not recognize the umbrella nor do I think it appropriate for a management company to try to force a resident to pay $1,000 for leaving an umbrella in front of the door at some unknown time with no proof of who left the umbrella there. Moreover, once again, I had proof I was actually not in town. It seems that AKAM is determined to find obscure means by which to fine me and they have been doing so for some time. I want this company to know that it does not have some kind of federal mandate to "penalize" condominium owners with no proof and also on a strange billing schedule that makes addressing the actual issue nearly impossible. I am now left with the unsavory situation of trying to "disprove" I left an umbrella in front of my front door months ago when I have no recollection of doing so or pay $1,000. Would the Revdex.com please shed light on this travesty and help me to resolve this horrible situation? Thank you. Best Regards, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I require AKAM to stop their predatory billing practices. If there is to be a fine, I want to be notified right away with an explanation and proof of how I was in violation. It cannot be months later. I want AKAM to fix the current mess in billing and issue me a formal apology and manifesto that they will not be behaving poorly again.

Review: I was injured on Saturday night by the driveway gate that slammed into my head, did not stop and continued to hit my nose and arm. I reported it to the doorman immediately. I went to my apartment to drop off my dog and when the pain didn't go away sought medical treatment. I emailed the building manager this morning. He TOLD me I had received a "glancing hit" and that the gate was in his opinion adequate and working fine. No concern for my injury or the possibility that the gate is unsafe. I called AKAM to report and have left messages (they don't appear to think I am worthy of an immediate response).

My concern is for the unprofessional and inhumane behaviour demonstrated by ** the building manager.

Here is the email he sent me: [redacted], The doormen did report the incident. I am very sorry to hear that you had the issue. They also said that you initially refused any medical treatment and then later went across the street to City Med. As for the mechanism, I just went out and checked it. It was working correctly. Before the arm starts to come down, it beeps five times, and then beeps the entire time that it is coming down. The lights flash as well. I certainly understand that you might not see the flashing lights above you when the arm is coming down, but the beep is loud enough to be heard at the freight entrance of the building which is about 60 feet away. The arm does go back up when it hits something solid such as a car in the driveway, but apparently yours was a glancing hit which didn’t send the arm back up. **Desired Settlement: Change our building manager to someone who cares and is respectful of humans!

I am assuming that the building will look into the issue of the gate and my injury.
