 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  akron is claiming that they performed the inspetion on september 28 when my complaint was filed on september 18.  That is 10 days afer my complaint and my complaint was filed and about 2 weeks after the home was sold to someone else.  I have my canceled check dated august 21.  This means I made a mistake thinking I approached them on the 23.  I actually approached them on the 16th and I am sorry I got the date wrong.  Akron also claims that I declined to do my own pillars.  False.  In fact we said more than once we would do it because they were wrong about the property being too rocky.  In my complaint I said the inspection was performed but they backed out on the sale even though we had agreed on the Friday after our last meeting to make a final decision because their sale terms kept changing.  Akron is continuing to be dishonest so I am refusing their "resolution".

This is in response to complaint received on 10/6/2014 ID#[redacted].The customer was charged $195.00 to perform a site inspection for a potential mobile home purchase to be installed. The inspection was preformed on September 28th 2014. We received the check for the site inspection in the mail on...

September 23rd 2014. Inspection included 2.8 man hours and approximately 40 miles of travel. During the inspection it was determined by our foreman who has 15 years of experience that due to the proximity of a quarry there was a strong likelihood of hitting rock while digging for footers. If rock is hit additional man hours, equipment, and removal of the rock is required. This would incur additional costs. State and local codes require footers to be 2 foot in diameter and 36 inches deep. We advised the customer of the potential of unknown additional expense. The customer felt strong that no rock would be hit, however it is company policy to inform customers of unknown potential circumstances which would increase customer costs. We offered as an option that the customer could do their own footers to save possible additional cost, which they declined. Our procedure is to have a purchase agreement with the customer before we provide a footer print and the additional documents needed to apply for a building permit. Footer prints for a used home require an actual drawing with specific measurements for each home purchased. The monies collected from the customer were for a site inspection only as noted on customers check.Attached are copies from our file: 1. Copy of the check for site inspection. 2. Copy of note included with customer’s check. 3. Copy of inspection notesPlease advise us of any additional help we can provide. Thank you for your help in reaching a positive resolution. We take this very seriously as we strive for excellent customer relationships.SincerelyHelen L

Review: My husband and I approached Akron mobile homes looking to purchase a used single wide home on Saturday August 23. The following monday we attempted to contact Amanda, the sales person, and it took 3 days to reach her directly. Once in contact we told her that we wanted to buy the home and we wanted to discuss the terms of financing we had discussed during our previous visit. I was quoted 7% interest for 7 years and was happy. I then was asked to mail a check for 195$ to have their company come and inspect the property we wished to have the home placed on. The following Monday the inspection was performed and we were told it would be simple and that the required pillar plan would be sent to us asap so we could finish our permit application to our township. The next day I attempted to contact Amanda again and again it took 2 days to reach her directly. I was then informed by her that it would not be simple because our property is too rocky and it would cost extra to "blast" to do our pillars, which is not true, and when I told her this she became dismissive and told me our downpayment was now 7000$ instead of 5000-6000$. I reminded her that this was not what we had discussed and all she said was "oh" and that her mother was having doubts about financing us now. I ended up taking a day to think it over since the company wanted to change everything on us and during that time I found out that the 6000$ they wanted as a down payment was over 40% of the total cost of the home and the average downpaymentt is 16-20%, I double checked with a contractor friend of ours and he confirmed that pouring our pillars would be rather simple, and that Amanda had quoted me wrong on our monthly payments, were they to finance us. She told me 225$ when in fact it would be only 211$. The next day I called back to schedule a meeting face to face for the following Tuesday to go over everything one last time before we bought the home. The meeting was a train wreck. Amanda refused to pour the pillars, that was now our job, and she informed me that she didn't care what the national average was for a down payment. She said its "6000$ firm for you guys because you have no other options". Not true, I just happen to like to do business locally. She also told us that since they no longer wanted to finance us that our rates were now to be 9% rather then 7% and that we wouldn't get the pillar plans until we signed the contract. We told her we needed until the end of the week to think the new terms over and we would call her by Friday because we were not comfortable handing her 6000$ with the new terms without thinking them over. Amanda aggreed. On wednesday, since we still did not have the pillar plan, I called my township and they advised me to have them before submiting the permit application. On Thursday I called to ask again for the pillar plans we were promised at thevsite inspectio so we could continue to move forward and for a reciept for the 195$ they already had. 40 minutes or so later they called back and told me the home was sold. When I got Amanda on the phone she told me it was my fault that the home had been sold because I was taking too long and she wasn't going to hold the home "forever". When I reminded her that she was difficult to contact and wouldn't return my calls for days and agreed to give us until friday and again asked for my money back she told me I wasn't going to get my money, or my pillar palns, or a reciept and should they get another home in our price range in in the future she would call me first.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my 195$ back. They did perform the site inspection but sold the home out from under us and refused to provide the plans and a reciept to move forward.
