In regards to the letter I received regarding the complaint about the Ford Taurus Touch Screen not workingWe I will now state the facts and concerns I have over thisThe customer ordered a Windshield strip as we call it and it was installed as requestedNow the process involves cleaning of
the inside of the front windshield, which is no different than cleaning a windshield with glass cleaner, then the strip is applied with a spray of water on the tint then the tint in placed onto the windshield and the water is then squeegeed outNow during the process we lay towels down on the dash to absorb any excess water that may dripSo a day the customer calls me and says his touch screen face doesn't work and I told him to bring it down and let me take a look at itAfter seeing the position of the screen in the dash and then saying it had water spots that he has seen on it , well after looking at this I found no water spots, and water spots do not form from water being sprayed on the windshield that fall onto a dash, for a test please spray some water on your touch screen on your cell phone and then wipe them off, or on a computer screen and around the plastic bezel then wipe them off with a towel like we would, you will find that there will be no water spots, Water spots can form on a hood of a car when the sun beats on them after a period of time, that's how water spots develop but not on something that is completely dried off after the process is completeSecondly the customer then calls me and tells me to call the dealer because they had checked it out, well we called the dealer, the dealer tried to access his system through there computer and said that his module was badWe then asked the service dept rep that the customer if that could be from water and he said that if water got in there it would a ruined the whole screen and nothing would display, but that was not the case the display was working but the touch part was notThe dealer told us that you would have to pour a cup of water down the screen for something likely to happen to itThe customer stated that he had the dealer completely check it out , we then proceeded to call the same person back that we spoke to earlier and said they did not take the unit apart to look at it and see what was wrong with it, but again the dealer rep said that it couldn't be from waterWe do many cars with the same procedure and don't have any issuesSo I decided to investigate the matter further and what I found was a class action lawsuit filed against ford for problems with there touch system, I will attach the link and copy and paste some information hereAlso I pulled a diagram up of where the module was located and it is on the bottom and behind the radio where no water could have access to it, even the dealer rep said soAgain unless you pour a cup of water down it and then he said it was unlikely to happenNow I know for a fact our procedure could not harm this system in any way, and most likely this unit wasn't working when it came in as we would have no reason to even check out something like that, also the customer stated he didn't realize it wasn't working right away because he used his steering wheel controls to work the system and they worked it until he tried the touch screenSo after doing the research and finding out all the issues with the ford touchscreen problems, what the dealer explained to me, and where the module to run this is located we did not cause this problemIts possible a number of other things could have happened as far someone tried to put in a aftermarket radio or navigation system in the vehicle and screwed it up, or because of the known defects in there system it just went outNow this Taurus is a 6th generation ford vehicle so the design and parts are the same on these vehicles are the same from to as are the problems related to the Touch SystemSo there is no way that this is our fault and I we are not going to proceed any farther in this matterI believe this system was defective before the car came hereAnd now he claims the entire radio needs to be replaced , and when we talked to the dealer that he had us call he said it had a bad moduleThe dealer explained that water would have cause the display not to work and it was working. *** ** *** *** ** *** ***

***Also here is a link to the location of the parts in that system in which NOthe module is located behind the display head and enclosed in a plastic case which is located behind the dashAgain why the dealer said it would take a cup of water to be spilled on it directly to "maybe" have a problem, and then the display would short out but that was not the case., his touchscreen failed
***This is a link of a picture of the dash board and you can clearly see no way for water to get in there behind the unit
***Thank-You*** ***
