Alan's Auto Network Reviews (3)

After viewing on Alan's Auto Network's website the 2005 Chrysler 300C, I was very interested in purchasing the car. In December of 2015, I went in and spoke to [redacted], the salesman. I did take the car out for a test drive, this was during the day and with heavy traffic.I noticed that the stereo that was advertised on their website, was missing. I mentioned this to [redacted] and he simply assured me that if I wanted the car he'd put it in later. So I gave my down payment and was assured I'd get that stereo installed. He also gave me a paper where he assured me that the car had been inspected and that everything checked out OK.On the first night I drove the car, I was barely able to notice that the headlight switches did not work. Then, I had problems with the headlights going on and off often or just one headlight going off. Then the breaks were horrible! I sent [redacted] a text requesting this be repaired, he assured me they would repair the issues. I still have the texts. They fixed the breaks, however, they have continued to insist that the lights are OK. They are not! The switches don't work and I continue to have issues with them going off often when driving. I have taken the car in twice and this has not been fixed. Also, [redacted] had a cheaper stereo installed, not what was advertised. I have no idea who kept the better stereo. I have also had to put in nearly $1,000.00 in repairs after being assured the car was inspected and checked out OK. The skipper also came off, because it didn't even have the appropriate amount of bolts/screws in place. This is unacceptable! I am a paying customer and I am being insulted when I am taking in $1,000.00 of my hard earned money into Alan's Auto Network every month to pay off this car as soon as possible, I do not deserve this type of treatment. I have expressed my genuine concern to [redacted] about the headlights going off on the road and me possibly being pulled over, because they haven't worked since day one (something I could only tell at night time).Product_Or_Service: CarDesired SettlementThe headlights/switches have not been fixed after 2 attempts with this business. I want to take the car to a shop of my choice and whatever I am charged, I want it discounted from what I currently owe.I want the stereo that was advertised to be installed, I am not happy with the cheaper one. A fair adjustment would be appreciated, I was assured the car was inspected and have had too many problems with it and spent nearly $1,000.00 in repairs. Business Response He purchased this vehicle on 11/30/15. We have worked with him to try to make him happy. There never was a particular stereo promised or advertised. The Ad merely says AM/FM radio. We installed an AM/FM radio with a CD player. An upgrade from our Ad. We purchased the car without a stereo, so there never was a "better" stereo as he states. The Boston Acoustic Speakers were standard and never touched. We replaced the brakes as promised. This is a non-issue.We checked the lights twice and did not see a problem either time. As he says in his complaint, he could only tell this problem at NIGHT. We were never able to check the lights at night. We would be more than willing to schedule a time with him when it is dark so that we can resolve this problem. We have absolutely no idea what a skipper is, so we can't really respond on this issue. He mentions that he has had $1000 done in repairs, but does not say what kind of repairs he had done.We have been very accommodating to this customer. He has been in to make his payments, but has not mentioned these issues to us at all since we fixed the brakes and checked the lights twice. This is a used vehicle and we are more than willing to repair any issue that is required by law or that can be dangerous when driving. We do have a copy of the Ad we ran that shows only an AM/FM radio was advertised. If you need that, we would be happy to mail it to you.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)First, I would like to clarify that the light switches do not even work. This is something that has been brought to their attention. So how is it that they come to the conclusion that the lights are "OK" and with no issue?Exactly! Only at night time, which is when I found out for the first time that I couldn't even turn lights on or off, because the switches don't work. I gave my down payment during the day, I found out about the lights the first night I had it. After the first time they checked it, they removed the "screen" where air comes out from the AC, right above the light switches and didn't even bother to put it back in place (they may have even broken it). There are no real professional mechanics working there, otherwise they would have already been able to fix the issue. The car was absolutely advertised with a totally different stereo than what I ultimately received. The stereo in the pictures of the car on their website was one with a screen, they only had some cheap black [redacted] stereo installed at the end. Had I seen that horrible stereo in the advertisement on their http://10.100.14.34/ebindr/images/icons16x/redact-multi.pngsite, I would have never gone in. What I ultimately received does make it false advertising. Ofcourse, now they can edit anything how they want and come up with a totally different description for the car. I will gladly give you a summary of the repairs I had to get done on this car after being told it had been inspected and that everything checked out "OK":1.) Crankshift Position Sensor. With parts and labor $166.05.2.) Thermostat. With parts and labor $121.33.3.) Cooling System Fluid Flush. The fluid was in desperate need of a flush and new fluid added. $166.21.4.) Power Steering Hose. With parts and labor $150.41. This too was in horrible condition. Add $122.62 for the power steering fluid flush that it also needed along with the $101.00 to inspect the car and we get a total of $885.09 (taxes included). You see, the main reason that I am so upset is because [redacted] handed me a paper telling me that the car has been inspected and that everything checked out "A-OK". I had peace of mind, but then suddenly it's one problem after another and there is absolutely no way that this car could have been inspected if I have already had all these problems. First it was the breaks, then the lights along with the switches not working. Then, the car would die on me in the middle of the road, until I put in nearly $1,000.00 to get it working again. No way this car was inspected!I decided not to mention any other problems to them, after I noticed that they couldn't even fix the lights and to top it off broke the screen where the air from the AC comes out and didn't even bother to fix it. So how could I trust such incompetent "mechanics" to look into more complex problems? I fully understand that it is a used car, but to be assured it was inspected and everything checked out OK when it's clearly not (I have a receipt of these repairs I had to pay for) is absolutely unacceptable! It is bad business practice to lie to a paying customer in this way and to top it off not really give the customer what has been advertised. As far as the "Skipper" is concerned, that is what they called it at Palomino's Auto Shop when I had to pay to have them cut off what was hanging, because it didn't even have the proper bolts/screws and it just came off in the middle of the road and it dragged. They clarified that in fact it was not properly installed and that it didn't have everything it needed to keep it in place. This is over $10,000.00 that I will end up paying to Alan's Auto Network. I am not shopping for an outfit here and if they want to get away with this, then be it. All I am asking is that I receive the stereo that was advertised and that they let me take the car to a shop of my choice and get the lights fixed and whatever I pay for that to be adjusted to what I currently owe. I do not feel comfortable taking the car in to guys that claim to be mechanics and end up breaking car parts. Final Business Response This customer is way off base with his facts. First of all the pictures that were on the internet showing the dash of the vehicle very clearly show an empty hole where the stereo should be. Again, we purchased the vehicle without a stereo. When he test drove it, there was NO stereo in the car. We have pictures from the advertisement and also the gentleman that takes our pictures to advertise that can testify that the car did not have a stereo in it when he took the pictures and posted them. The stereo we installed is an upgrade of the description in the advertisement. There was absolutely no false advertising! I'm not sure what "horrible" stereo he thought was pictured in our advertisement now, but for the record, NO stereo was pictured in the advertisement for this vehicle. He previously said that "the stereo pictured in our ad was the stereo he wants, somebody took it out". AGAIN - NO stereo was pictured for this vehicle. First he wants it now it's horrible - which is it??? We will not compromise on the stereo. The lights are a different issue. Our salesman has been corresponding regularly with him and has mentioned time and time again to bring the car in. We are more than willing and able to fix the lights situation. We may have to keep it over night to check it out thoroughly and solve the problem....as he says, you can really only tell at night. The problem with the lights appears to have started shortly after purchase, but may have progressively gotten worse. We will fix this problem, but he has to bring the car in to us. He is continuing texts with our salesman, but still has not brought the car in so we can check it out. Electrical problems can be difficult to resolve and do take time. He was never told the lights are OK and with no issue. He was told that a problem could not be found at that time and that it will take further investigation and to let us know if the problem persists. He has told us the problem is persisting, but has not brought the vehicle in yet.As I stated before, this is a used vehicle. We check each and every vehicle before it is put on the lot for sale and we check off each item as required by law. We cannot guarantee that things won't go wrong after the purchase. We still don't have any idea what he is talking about regarding the "screen" nor the "skipper". I take exception to him calling our mechanic incompetent. If he didn't want to bring other problems to our attention, then that's his problem. We are willing to work with him, but he needs to change his attitude and work with us. We cannot fix a vehicle if we don't have the vehicle in our possession to see what's wrong.

I bought my 2005 Ford Five Hundred Limited from Alan's Auto Network over 3 months ago and I have already paid off the car. A bill of sale was written up that I would be given stock rims and tires because I didn't like what was on the car and Alan told me I would receive new rims and tires when I bought the vehicle. I have repeatedly called and stopped by asking for Alan and to have him call me for over 3 months asking when I would receive what the deal was on the bill of sale. Only once have I received a phone call back from Alan and nothing was resolved because they were searching still searching for the tires. After month two, I was told they had the rims so I went by to see them and take them with me, they were used and a little scratched but at that point I didn't care because I just wanted to be done with this place and for them to hurry and get to tires now. But I was told I couldn't take them and would have to wait for the tires, who had to be put on by "their guy". I am still being told they are waiting for the tires to come in "their guys" shop and the tires are hard to find in that size. So I decided to call four different tire shops in Reno and each one had the tire I need in multiple different brands. At this point I think I deserve brand new tires and rims. Especially after spending over $3,000 rebuilding my transmission because it started acting up the evening I bought it. Which I made them aware of and they failed to remember when I brought it up last time I was there. Yet I took it to him that same week I bought it and he took it to another "friends shop" for a transmission flush. I couldn't even find the shop at the address they gave me so makes me extremely skeptical that anything was ever looked at or done.Desired SettlementI think after having to go out of my way to go Alan's Auto Network to get an explanation (at least 5 times) and calling more times than I can remember with only one returned over the course of 3 1/2 months on top of the transmission issues, I deserve the money to take my car myself and purchase new rims and tires on my own.Business Response When this customer purchased the vehicle 3 months ago, he was told we would replace the serpentine belt and rear brakes. We also said we would replace the wheels with stock wheels. The repairs were done at his convenience and we started our search for "stock" wheels - not always an easy task. We have been working with him to get this resolved. We were able to acquire the rims fairly quickly, but were unable to get good quality used tires. When we exhausted all our sources, we decided to purchase new tires for him. He kept insisting he wanted to take the rims, buy tires, have them installed on his car and wanted us to reimburse him. We do not work that way. We have our sources and our systems we follow. We also wanted to make sure we retained the rims and tires that were already on the car. This process is vital to our business. He got very angry when we wouldn't turn the rims over to him. When we got the new tires, we advised him (around the 3rd of June) to come in around the 6th or 7th to put them on his car. He said he couldn't because his parents were in town, but he would call us. We hadn't heard from him until this Revdex.com complaint. On 6/21/16, we again called him to ask him to bring the car in to put the tires and rims on his car. He said he was too busy right now, but would try to come in on Saturday, the 25th. We need to schedule appointments to have work done - the attitude of "try to make it" doesn't allow for scheduling. He has been unreasonable and not working with us every since we wouldn't let him take the rims himself. The ball is again in his court to come in and get this taken care of.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)On Friday June 3, 2016, I left my vehicle at Alan's Auto Network. I had rented a car and left my vehicle there until the following Monday June 6, 2016. If you had the tires ready as you state you did, why were they not put on when the car was left at your dealership for 4 days? Either you are a liar or had my car under you care for 4 days without an employee telling you. Also was up there with my father on June 6, 2016 to talk to Alan. I was once again told, he isn't here. Why does he need to be there for me to get tires and rims that ready and only need to be put on?

When buying a car from Alan's, car could never pass smog, wanting my down payment back, will not give it back, holding checks illegally. Bought one car from them, had to put money into tires, alignment, and shocks. Was told that car was maintained well. Went to buy another car from them, two cars later and still same issue. Tires, tune up, alignment will not pass smog. Wanting to walk away from deal because car is not worth it. Will not return down payment, says I am violation of contract, and holding my checks for two months now. One phone call he says I am responsible for taxes and commission to his sales men. I am a retired soldier with 22 years of active service and have never been treated this bad by a car dealer. Desired SettlementAll I want is my checks back that he is holding. I shouldn't have to pay his sales men or taxes for faulty equipment. I just want to walk away and take my money somewhere else.Business Response The 1st car he bought on 1/10/14 passed smog just fine and he has never complained about it. Says he loves the car. The 2nd car he bought on 4/8/14 (after changing his mind 3 times on which car he wanted) also passed smog with no problem. He never voiced any complaints about the car. We asked him numerous times if he was sure about the car and if he was ok with 2 car payments. He said he was ok with everything. On 4/30/14 he brought the car back and said he could no longer afford it because his mother-in-law passed away and they were stuck with the medical bills. HE NEVER VOICED ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CAR! After 3 weeks of driving it around, when down payment was due and 1 week away from 1st payment due, he brings it back with that story. At that point he signed a voluntary surrender form, which deems him responsible for the total amount of the contract. He was advised that this will be reported to the Credit Bureau as a repossession. We have proof of smog checks and signed Voluntary Surrender Form if you need them. If the first car was a problem, why would he come back to buy another car from us just 3 months later?????? If his mother-in-law passed away he probably acquired her car which prompted him to tell you one story and tell us another one. If you need any further information, just let us know.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The 1st car, 2004 Chevy Tahoe, yes I been Okay with it. When first bought the wipers did not work, he did fix them when I brought it back the next day. It took him almost a 4 to 6 weeks to fix the back which works when it want too. Every time we take it on a trip the engine light comes on. I did take it in the first time when this happen and was told to go to Auto Zone to get the part I needed. Now this car needs a brake job. I did look at many cars at his lot looking for a second car, 2004 VW Jetta could not pass smog, I put over $250 in tires, fixed the radio, and finally just got tired of putting money in a car that could not pass smog, and this car is now on a lot over on Well Ave I believe. We did take a Ford Explorer from him that same day. On the way home the engine light was flashing and it started to miss fire. I could not get it to start again once I got it home, so being a good customer, buying a car as is; I bought the parts and gave it a tune up. It ran fine after that. Same car needed tires which I did price. That is when my mother-in law went to the Hospital. I do have the Death certificate to prove this, on April 21, 2014 at 7:40AM; we were by her bed side. In questioned about her car, 1995 Town and Country, driver door falls off sealed shut with strap, floor boards rusted, wheel Barings bad, Auto door for ramp works 70% of the time, paint peeling, and I do not have title to junk it. When signing the paperwork for surrender, I was told by his sales men, so they didn't have to wait 10 days to resale car while waving his hand over it. Not at any time did he say I was responsible for the contract and it was up to Allan what needed to be done. Next time I will read paperwork. I did get a hold of the owner a month later; First conversation did not go well. Second conversation I was told that he did talk to his sales men and he told him that I told him I wanted to make this right which is correct. I was told to pay the fees and sales men and this will be done. The contract price came out to be $1329.29, which we agreed to pay $1500. I would not have a problem paying if this dealership would stop testing my integrity. To say I told them one story and you another is wrong. I served 22 years of active duty, E-7 Senior NCO, never in my life have I been treated this way by a dealership. He still has my checks which I plan on going to get today on 6/12/2014, to finally resolve this issue in a professional way. Final Business Response Per conversations with [redacted], it was agreed that we were to shred the checks. He knows they are shredded and all is taken care of. We have resolved the problem. If you need anything else, please let me know.Final Consumer Response Hello,I have spoken with Alan's auto and have come up with a solution. I have had my check shredded and will pick them up ASAP. This issue has been resolved and thanks you for your Assistance.[redacted]
