Thanks for the nice review. It was great meeting you....hi to all.

This adventure to the great outdoors is one I will never forget. I remember waking up in Seward, walking outside and I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't a dreaming.... sooo picturesque! The entire tour is filled with beautiful scenery and wildlife. Spike and his crew were great, he was so knowledgeable and they all were very helpful and punctual with the itinerary. I always recommend this to my friends and I look forward to doing it again!!

Thank you for your kind words. We are glad you had such a positive experience.

The Alaskan rv tour was one I always wanted to do. I am a widow and I walk with a cane and asked spike if that would be a problem and he said no. I knew from the beginning there would things I couldn’t do. I always say I can’t walk worth beans but can DRIVE. I took lots of cd to listen to while driving. I had a medical emergency as we were pulling out on the first trip. Spike had one of his workers -Sam- take me to emergency hospital and stay with me till we knew what was going on. I drove to larger hospital and was cleared to join back up with the group. I am so glad I did the tour. I am hoping to go on second tour in 2021 to see what I missed. .

You are a real trooper. Love to have you join us for another caravan your. We have a returning customer discount for you.

This was a trip of a lifetime. Spike & Roger are the best. I learned a lot about Alaska History, the natives, and all the animals. Would go again. Made a lot of great memories, and a couple of GOOD FRIENDS.

Thank you ***........hope to see ya'll up here again.

If you want the adventure of a lifetime take this tour. From the beginning of our tour in the quaint First Nation village of Hazelton BC to our final stop at beautiful Beluga Point AK, Spike, our tour guide, gave us an ongoing narration about the history, plant life, animals, birds, fish and how to travel as a group in a caravan.
With Spike's helpful and friendly support team of Roger his trained rv mechanic, our tail gunners, our own personal radios to keep everyone in touch, and his excellent maps and daily itineraries, we always felt secure and informed.
Highlights...meeting Michelle P the #1 female musher in Canada who has raced in both the Iditarod and Yukon Quest sled dog races and going for a sled dog ride. Free time... in Denali to do river rafting...Fairbanks to go to Chena Hot Springs...*** kayaking out in the wilds and enjoying a cold beer at the *** afterwards! Spike will take you places you would never find if you went to AK on your own. And the best part ... the new friends you make and the adventures and memories you will always share.

My tour with spike is by far one of the best tours i've even been on. by far 100% recommended for anyone to see alaska in a amazing way that you'll never see otherwise.

Alaskan Discovery RV Tours Response • Jan 24, 2020

Thanks, bring your kids.......

I took this tour in 2000 and again in 2006, had a great time both times and was able to learn and see a great deal of Alaska. It was a trip of a life time and I would recommend it to anyone. Everything was taken care of so all we had to do was enjoy the trip.

Thanks for the kind words........

PHENOMENAL adventure with Spike. This was our first RV tour in June of 2016 and have since done another RV tour and am still amazed of the tour Spike did. We are still friends with Spike and most of the folks we went on that tour with. Spike took us to many places we would never had seen any other way except for his tour. Spike has been doing this tour for 27 years and knows everybody in the Yukon and Alaska. We got to meet a number of the mushers from the Iditarod Race and even experience the race with the dogs in one of the summer camps.

Spike talks about everything for 36 days on the provided CB radios..., from the clouds, to the history of an area, to the type of foliage. Take in as much as you want. Having the tail-gunner plus a mechanic on the trip was a great thing. I assumed after this trip all others RV tours would automatically have this, but no this was not the case.

I whole heartily recommend anyone going to Alaska to do this via Spike's trip and not a cruise or another RV company!

Thank you so much the kind and supportive review. It means a lot to Roger and I.

If you are looking for an absolutely breathtaking fun filled trip with a fantastic guide who thinks of all the people who go on thinks of all his rv owners as family. We went and were scared to look away because we might miss something. You’ll see animals, plants, glaciers, whales, and if you are blessed you will see the northern lights.
Spikes Alaska rv caravan is all mapped out for you. You will always know where you are going and what you will be able to do.
We went halibut fishing and caught our limit. Such an amazing g experience.
Spike has lived in Alaska for quite some time and knows people and places you wouldn’t know about if you went on your own.
Give yourself the gift of going on one of two tours.
Thank you Spike and May God bless you.

Thanks so much for the kind review....hi to all....spile

Our trips with Alaskan Discovery RV Tours have been an enormous blessing and have enriched our lives and enabled us to make great lasting friendships with other RVers! Spike, the tour company owner, not only narrates the tours, but infuses us with his enthusiasm and love for The Last Frontier. He informed us of not only the historical sites, but also the flora and fauna and local customs.....he´s even an expert meteorologist and geologist, plus a warm, kind person who wants to please. His love for Alaska and the Yukon Territory & the amazing people who populate these rugged regions is contagious and you can feel that he sincerely wants to share what he has discovered over his many years in these fascinating areas. Our first tour with Spike was in June 2008 and our most recent trip was in July/August 2018. We discovered each season has sensational sights and landscapes and recommend both tours to get the full impact of the amazing contrasts and variations of that land of the Midnight Sun & Northern Lights. We also felt very safe and secure with Roger accompanying the tour as mechanic and general trouble shooter - his patience and good nature enabled everyone to feel relaxed and well cared for. Also the tail gunners were so friendly and willing to show us the ropes. We loved each local tour and were grateful for the van service for those of us without tow cars. We discovered so many intriguing places, shops and people we would have never encountered on our own. We so enjoyed meeting Michelle the musher and vicariously live through her exciting adventures on the Iditarod and Yukon Quest dogsled races, following her online, but also hope to join her on the Iditarod intro tour coming up in March. We thank Spike and his team for our "trips" of a lifetime!

Wow, thanks ***.........hope to see you and your husband again soon......maybe at our yearly RV Rally in Tampa.

I have been on the trip several times and have always had a wonderful time. I was told in the beginning that our dogs would be walked when we were on a tour and the dogs were in the RV, Roger always saw that they were walked and given a treat. I never expected anyone to walk them any other time. The trips I have taken were wonderful and informative. We have made lifelong friends that we have meet on the tours.everything about the trip was great. we wee happy to have free days so we could rest and continue and enjoy the rest of the trip without being tired. My husband and I were 100% pleased with everything. We are planning on another trip next year as we love Alaska so much. It is truly a trip of a lifetime.if you are thinking about it don’t delay do it while you can. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Hi, I see you signed up to go again in 2020 summer tour one........great, see you soon.

Our Alaskan trip was absolutely amazing. Spikes knowledge is truly out of this world. Spike makes us feel as though we are traveling with our family and dearest friends.
Spike makes sure he keeps faith with him with every breath he takes. I love going to church and thought I would miss hearing Gods word but Spike makes sure we always had blessings before all meals and a group service for all denominations, this to me was so special.

Alaskan Discovery RV Tours Response • Jan 21, 2020

It's always fun to see you and hope to see you as tailgunners soon.

I agree with Linda H. We were on the first tour 2019. The itinerary listed on the website and sent to us was not the same as the one that we were given daily. We planned two fights to the National Parks and we missed events that we would like to have attended because of this shift in the itinerary. We went with Spike on the Iditarod trip and I used this time to plan vets to take care of our dogs while we were on these over night flights. When Spike heard this, he told me that Roger would take care of them as dog sitting is part of the package. I cancelled the vet arrangements. Roger became irritated that he had to take care of our dogs and told us that this was not part of his job. The tail gunner came to my husband and in front of other people told him that we had better give Roger a big tip because we were abusing the dog sitting part of the trip- it was only to be used when the group was on a group outing. I did not sleep for three days as I was so upset. We spent way too much time in some locations and not enough time in others. Since we do not tow, we were left with no means to get into town to got to see things, A group of us asked if we could use the van to go into town and were told by Roger that that was not the intent of the van. Museums and places were listed on the itinerary and we were never taken there. There were no organized evening activities unless members of the group organized them (e.g., party at one site organized by a two couples. That is it!) I am not talking about the ones clearly marked as optional. AND WORSE OF ALL THE DENALI TRANSPORTATION NOT ! The itinerary clearly tells us we are going to tour Denali. We were put on the transportation bus. The driver told us over and over that the bus was to transport us to the various stops. He could not narrate the ride. If someone asked questions, he could answer them but he could not talk to us about what we were seeing. We were put on the afternoon bus (tailgunners went on the morning bus) when there were no animals out as it was too hot. Morning group did see some. No reason we could have been put on early busses as we were there two days.
I leaned a great deal but also heard a great deal of anger from my fellow travelers about the wasted time and lack of activities. One person wanted to leave when we were in the Yukon Territory still as she felt she and her husband could have gone to Europe for what they spent on this trip to sit around waiting for our next trip.
I loved the trip to see the dogs and ride on the sled. However, when Michelle came to the dinner with us, she did the exact same presentation and showed the exact same slide show that we had seen at the dog kennel. Come on. I felt that this was a complete money grab as was the stop at the Jade Mine and the fur store in Anchorage. While Spike did say that he did not benefit from our stops - as do other companies - I was behind him in line for lunch at one stop and he did not pay for his food as we all had to.

+1

It would have been helpful to know prior to the trip that events listed on the itinerary as included are typically just pointed out while you drive by. This is similar to a cruise ship vacation. You caravan to locations, but activities at those locations are at your expense and on your own.

Alaskan Discovery RV Tours Response • Dec 06, 2019

Yes, as we are driving in a Caravan we do a two-way radio narration on sights we pass as we drive between stops and to the days destination. when we arrive to the destination: ALL EVENTS, TOURS, ATTRACTIONS AND ENTERTAINMENT WE ATTEND ARE PREPAID IN THE TOUR COST. Note, as with all tour companies your free time is available for you to shop and see tours or attractions you personally find interesting. you can do those on your own on your own time and expense not included in the tour. There are three "not included events" available to customers that is stated on our website as a suggestion of things to do on your own. The three stated on the "tour itinerary page" on our website are whale watching, Yukon boat tour and Halibut fishing. They are not for everyone as the use of boats do not agree with some. We recommend those who are interested take advantage of these events on their free time. By visiting our website, www.rvalaskatours.com and clicking on "Tour Itinerary" you can see all the tours included in the Caravan tour and the three we recommend you may want to do on your own. We are the only Caravan company that hands out 2-way radios to all customers. We are able to talk as we drive and expand on the history, geology and points of interest as we drive by areas with no stopping available for a talk. It's a continuous narration for the whole 3000 mile Caravan adventure. Under the tour itinerary page can be seen all the tours and events with their costs that are included in your tour price. Thank you for this opportunity to make concise statements on our tour activities and what is provided by us.

Spike shares his vast knowledge and love for Alaska and Alaska Natives! Throughout our tour we receive facts about Alaska’s history, geography, plants, animals and celebrities. Spike’s detailed maps and itineraries guide us as a group or on our own at all of our stops. He brings in special guest speakers to enhance our journey and includes stops we could never have found on our own. Spike’s peaceful demeanor and concern for our safety including our pets is evident in his careful planning and guidance. He and his staff provide everything with smiles! We highly recommend Alaska Discovery RV Tours, LTD

Before signing up with Alaskan Discovery we interviewed like companies. We couldn't be happier with our choice after our experience with Spike and his support team! They are professional, personable, incredibly organized and knowledgeable of the history, geography, flora and fauna of BC, the Yukon and Alaska. Spikes narrative along the road by radio and the stops was very interesting. He arranged lectures by people living very different ways than us in the lower 48!
As a group of RVers we were taught how to safely and politely be a convoy.
There were times the team helped out strangers along our path, impressive!
We would highly recommend Alaskan Discovery to anyone seeking adventure in BC, the Yukon and Alaska!

My wife, sister and I joined Alaska Discovery RV Tours for the second 2019 adventure and it has exceeded our high expectations. “Spike” who leads the tour is a wealth of knowledge with 27 years of guiding RV caravans like ours. We each received radios for our coaches that allowed us to hear an ongoing narration of our trip and ask questions as we travelled in our RV caravan. Roger, a certified RV mechanic, travelled with us but more importantly he went out of his way to help us and others, in any way possible. Ex. While touring on what always seems to be “remote” highway a cross country bicyclist had just taken a minor tumble off the edge of the road. Roger stopped to offer aid and later stopped to offer assistance to a broken down semi. Our “tail gunners” Kent and Trisha couldn’t have been any more hospitable. Sam, the ever present 5th member of the team, did whatever was necessary to aid your experience with a smile on his face. As an avid hiker Sam offered to accompany me on some of his favorite hikes that turned out to be highlights of the trip for me. In summary, these are the words that best capture our experience with Alaska RV Adventures: Professional, Thorough, Prepared for Contingencies and above all a positive attitude that permeated the entire tour group leading to new lasting friendships as we toured Canada and Alaska.
