Albert P Wylie Funeral Home Reviews (%countItem)

Good Afternoon
The viewing was not was not a normal viewing (Samuel *** ).
1st thing 1st, the family was not allowed to park on the parking lot. They made us park on the street and walk to the funeral home.
2nd thing, they had *** name wrong on the cover and his blanket.
3rd We have a family Barber that was not allowed to cut Mr *** hair, the owner was very nasty and would not allow it

Next date May 29th
Of course during covid19 only 10 of us was allowed to enter the funeral home, I do understand this, however, what I don't understand is how this funeral home charges the same fee's for half a funeral.

Desired Outcome

To recoup and recover a payment adjustment, I strongly feel like funeral homes should not be charging the full cost for funerals, My family was not covid19 positive. The cost that was included for cutting the deceases hair, we have a barber and he was not allowed to cut hair. Over all this was very poor and we requested a Director the day of the Funeral and was told none was available I plan to file many more complaints with the Maryland Attorney Generals office as well

RE: COMPLAINT ACTIVITY REPORT Case *** (Samuel ***)

Dear Ms.,
Thank you for the opportunity to address this matter. We apologize for our late response. The initial complaint went
to the wrong address. Please find our response below. Thank you.

Wylie Funeral Homes P.A. Response:
We would first like to thank Ms. and her family for allowing us to take their loved one, Mr. the last
mile of the way. With heavy hearts we can imagine but could not possibly understand the pain of burying a loved one
during a global pandemic. Nothing was as any of us would have wanted it to be to celebrate Mr. in the way we
were accustomed prior to Covid. We are continuously praying for their comfort.
1. Due to the global coronavirus pandemic and the mandated state guidelines put in place by Governor Hogan,
we restricted access to our parking lot. The restriction was to ensure that could comply with the Governor's
order of no more than 10 people in the building, including staff, at a time. We would not be in compliance
with the order without restricting access to the parking lot. That policy was in effect throughout phase one of
the state's lockdown.

2. The throw blanket for the casket was given as a gift from our funeral home to the family; it was not requested
or paid for. Prior to gifting the blanket to the family, we asked what they would like to have embroidered on
it and they requested, "Samuel *** Unfortunately, our printer omitted the first name, "Samuel,"
and the throw blanket read, "***" We had it corrected and remade at no charge and the
family returned to the funeral home to retrieve the throw blanket.
3. Due to the global coronavirus pandemic and the mandated state guidelines put in place by Governor Hogan,
and to protect the health and safety of our staff, we restrict access to our workspaces. Only staff were/are
currently allowed in our preparation spaces; we could not accommodate the family's request to have their
own barber enter our workspace to provide barbering services to Mr. The barbering service for Mr.
*** was provided by one of our staff members, which would be the usual process. It is rare that a family
requests to use their own stylist/barber, but under normal circumstances we would have no problem
coordinating those services.
Regarding Ms. desired resolution, Wylie Funeral Homes, P.A. provided the services to the *** family as
outlined in our contract. Our service charges are the same regardless of if a celebration of life service is attended by 1
or 1000 loved ones. Regarding the throw blanket, we corrected the name and replaced the gift given to the ***
family. We thank you for the opportunity to respond. Please let us know if you need any additional information.
Sincerely,

Crystal ***
