Review: Contacted Albertson electric for a warranty issue on a new Generac generator. They said they would come out to see what warranty repair was needed. They said they needed a valid credit card in case it was not a warranty issue. They advised if it was covered by the warranty the credit card would not be charged. Their technician came to my home and looked at the generator and said it was a product defect and would be covered by the warranty, he needed to order a controller to fix the problem. An hour after the technician left, a woman called from Albertson and said they want to charge my credit card $1250.00 to cover parts and labor. I told them do not charge my credit card that this is covered by my warranty by Generac and they should be collecting from them. I spoke to Generac and they confirmed my unit is under warranty and that they pay the dealer directly for any repairs. When I again spoke with Albertson electric and told them what Generac advised, they insisted to be paid first and said when Generac paid them, they would refund my money. I told them that is not what you told me on the phone before coming out, in fact you said the card will not be charged if it is a warranty issue. I had Generac call them and the girl from Generac told me this is the first time she ever heard a dealer pulling something like this. She gave me another dealer in my area who came out and fixed the problem with no out of pocket charge to me. As an added note, Albertson electric said the problem was a bad controller and the part was $850.00 There was nothing wrong with the controller, the problem was a loose wire in the harness that was easily fixed. When I received my credit card statement I saw Albertson electric charged my credit card for $400.00 I did not authorize this charge and specifically told them not to.Desired Settlement: They should not be lying to customers just to get their credit card numbers.
