Albertson Funeral Home

My Mother passed away on March 16th 2015. Me and my brother while we were at the funeral home paid them to have the headstone ( which had already been purchased by my mother) engraved with the date of death and also I ordered a piece of memory glass from a brochure that the funeral home had. I had previously gotten one when my father had passed away. The memory glass and stand together was over 400.00 and the engraving of the headstone was 300.00. I was told that they would ship her ashes to the company (Memory Glass) the following day and that they would contact the man who engraves the headstone the following day as well. Every month I checked to see if the headstone had been finished yet and I called the funeral home several times in the last 8 months inquiring about the memory glass and was told that sometimes it takes a while and that the man who is suppose to engrave the headstone had another one to do before ours. On October 1st my brother who is executor of the will called the funeral home inquiring the same information and was given the brush off as well. Since these things were already paid for he told them he was going to contact an attorney. Yesterday I called the company who makes the memory glass and was told that they received my mothers ashes on october 7th. I believe that they had fraudulently taken our money and only when threatened did what they were paid to do. The memory glass company told me that it takes four weeks from time received to the time shipped and it has been 8 months.Desired SettlementSince this is the only funeral home in this town I do not want to see anyone else be taken advantage of in their time of grief. Thank goodness we had a record of purchase or we may not have been able to get them to honor the contract.I question wether or not since it has been so long that it was actually my mothers ashes in the piece. The leftover ash will be with my order- if there is a way to know for sure-I would out of principal. Wondering ruins the point of having it to begin with.
